f an hour later, as I made my way down the unfamiliar road I had chosen, I could not stop my heart from pounding with so much excitement. Maybe it was the adrenaline running through my veins or the fear of my father's wrath if he manages to catch me or maybe, it was both but either way, I kept running, hoping for some sort of miracle. As I sprinted down the path, I could hear my footsteps echoing against the pavement as I got farther away from the castle. The night was dead silent. Only the distant howl of the winding could be heard as it danced through the trees, creating some sort of rustling sound. Suddenly, the silence was shattered by the unmistakable roar of an engine, growling louder and closer with each passing second. I whipped around to see a black sleek car emerge from a bend in the road, its headlights blinding in the darkness. The engine roared menacingly as the vehicle accelerated, barreling towards me from behind. For a second, I stood frozen on the spot, petrified. My brain screamed at me, begging me to move but my feet refused to obey. My eyes were fixed on the car hurtling towards me. I took a small step back, again and again till I stepped on my gown and fell to the floor, twisting my ankle. Panic surged through me as I quickly got up and desperately tried to outrun the speeding vehicle. I was going to defy whatever law in physics that said I couldn't outrun a speeding vehicle and maybe, just maybe, I would have done it but I wasn't running, I was limping. The sound of screeching tires filled the air as the car fought to come to a halt, and my heart leaped into my throat when the car maneuvered its way around me, a cloud of dust billowing up around us. I was forced to come to a stop as the car came to a halt mere feet in front of me, now filling the air with the smell of burning rubber. I stood frozen in the glare of the headlig
