Chapter 1 A Mischance And A Mess
I walked briskly out of the hotel lobby after I finished helping my Head of Department drop off the papers he had forgotten at the office and picked up some extra ones from him. I walked with the intensity of a child late for school as I made my way down the stairs without even looking down, completely buried in my thoughts, when I missed a step. I tripped and was falling onto a man who was about to climb up the stairs and he could have caught me, but instead, he shifted out of the way and with vigorous force, I came crashing down to the ground. The documents flew out of my hand and scattered around me like autumn leaves in the wind.
He observed the scene before him with a subtle smirk. He chose not to extend a helping hand, enjoying the sight of me groaning in pain and embarrassment. It was as if he found amusement in watching me fall. I looked up, ready to express my annoyance, but before I could say anything, he walked off without saying a word
I muttered to myself, "wow, how rude and heartless can someone be? What kind of person just watches someone fall and does nothing?"
Feeling indignant, I got up from the ground and knelt to gather my documents. The man overhearing my remark, stopped in his tracks and turned back to face me.
"Heartless? That's quite an assumption to make."
"Well, your actions speak volumes. You didn't even bother to apologize!" I said irritatedly as I stood up to him.
"Apologies are overrated, don't you think?" He responded nonchalantly as his guards tried to step in but he dismissed them.

"What do you possibly mean by that?" Jessica asked. She has been arguing in front of the courthouse over the phone for the last ten minutes.
Today was her wedding day. She and her high school sweetheart Burke were supposed to meet up here by ten thirty am to have their wedding.
"Burke it is ten forty-five am, where are you?" she asked her voice shaky.
"Jessica I won't be coming today," Burke said.
"What do you mean by that? We are to get married today" she said again. This time she felt something got trickling down her eyes. She sniffled to drive away the tears so her makeup doesn't get ruined.
"Jessica I don't think I love you enough to want to get married to you and live together in the same house," he said. She felt her heart sank.
They had been planning the wedding together ever since he popped the question. He knew of her dream to get married and live in a house that had a yard for the kids to play in. He had no house with a yard but they planned to get one.

Chapter 1 A ball and a letter
In the pride of England, the clouds were dark and it was about to rain. But a little boy ran through the streets, his eyes fixed on the grand home of the Sinclair family. His feet pounded the cobblestone road as he rushed towards the door, a letter clutched tightly in his hand. It was addressed to Lady Elizabeth, the daughter of the wealthy merchant.
As the boy arrived, he was greeted by the butler who led him to the drawing-room where Elizabeth was sitting. Her strawberry blonde hair was pinned back, her dress immaculate, and her posture regal. She was everything the boy had imagined a lady to be.
"Excuse me, milady," the boy said, panting. "I have a letter for you."
There were two letters, Elizabeth took one and her sister took the other letter from the boy and thanked him before dismissing him. She opened the letter, her curiosity piqued. It was an invitation to a ball hosted by the Earl of Ashworth, one of the most prominent nobles in London. Elizabeth had heard of him but had never met him. She was excited at the prospect of attending his ball and meeting new people.
With a smile on her face, Elizabeth asked her maid to prepare her for the ball. She knew that it was going to be an eventful night, and she was eager to make the most of it. Little did she know, that night would be the start of a journey that would change her life forever.

Chapter 1 Two Million Dollars For A Baby Boy
"Miss, Madame had said that you can get two million dollars if you have a baby boy and five hundred thousand if you have a baby girl." The old lady said softly.
"Okay." Nancy Ning nodded.
She had no other choice, did she? Her mother was already in desperate need for someone to pay off her hospital bills, and she knew for a fact that her father, Clark Ning, would never shoulder any part of the bills, because he didn't care it at all.
Nancy Ning was angry about that, so she didn't want to beg him to give her some just to shoulder off the few debts. Thus, she tried to turn to her boyfriend, Caspar Yue, for help only to find that he'd been sleeping with her half-sister, Fannie Ning.
Desperate times could only bring desperate measures.
Nancy Ning could only sneer, stomping off.
Lightning strike in the clouds above, the skies thundered in reply. Soon enough, rain drops smashed down onto the pavements as her thin clothes were now considered drenched by the rain.

Chapter 1 A Night Of Drunken Mistake
Feeling as though she was on fire, Sheila Jones ached for some kind of relief. It was as if she'd taken a swan dive right into a pool of molten lava.
A man's firm chest pushed against her, and she arched her back in response, whispering, "Niko, how could you forget me? I miss the days when you still loved me."
Hearing the name "Niko," the man's eyes narrowed just a smidgen, and he pressed against her even more intensely.
"Hmm..."
As the first light of dawn crept through the window, Sheila shifted, and her hand met a searing chest. Blinking her eyes open, she saw a strikingly handsome face.
"Hey! Who are you? Why are you in my bed? What happened?"
Confirming she wasn't stuck in some weird dream, Sheila realized she was naked under the covers and let out a shriek.

Chapter 1 Ending A Marriage.
"Here's the divorce agreement, Philip. I've already signed it. Please give it to Carlos Huo."
It was difficult for Debbie Nian to work up the nerve to hand the agreement that would end her marriage to Philip Zhuo, the Huo family's steward.
Sighing in resignation, Philip Zhuo went over the document and noticed clauses that made him frown. He looked at the girl sharply and bellowed, "Debbie!" Incredulous, he asked, "Do you realize how stupid this is? I can understand if you want to divorce Mr. Huo. After all, you haven't seen the man for the past three years. But why aren't you asking for any money?"
At 20, Debbie Nian was an undergraduate. Her father died and she didn't know who her mother was. In Philip Zhuo's opinion, she shouldn't want a divorce, let alone get out of the marriage without any money.
Debbie Nian scratched the back of her head in embarrassment. She was well aware that Philip Zhuo always treated her as a daughter, so she had no plans to keep anything from him. "I... I want to drop out of school," she stammered.
"What? Why do you suddenly want to leave school? What happened? Are you being bullied?" The steward's eyes widened in astonishment.

Chapter 1 No.1
Sofia’s POV
“Sit, Sofia,” Father murmured as he gestured towards the seat positioned before himself and mum, I sank into it gracefully and thanked him before he continued.
My heart was already beating fast, it had started racing wildly since the moment our housekeeper came to my room to inform me that my parents would like to have a word with me this very instant. A part of me already kinda figured out why they had summoned me, I’ve been dreading this particular ‘talk’ since the day I turned eighteen, two months ago.
“Do you know why I had you summoned?” Father asked and I shook my head immediately, silently praying it wasn’t going to end up being what I was already starting to think it was. Father picked up his whiskey filled glass and took a sip before returning it back to the table. My mother was seated beside him with a blank face as usual, her hair was pinned on her hair neatly and tightly, a single strand wouldn’t be able to slip out until she took out the pin herself.
“You’re eighteen years already, Sofia.” My father started to say and I felt my heart sink into my stomach with a drop, what he was about to say was already pretty obvious.

Chapter 1 PROLOGUE
Sitting on a plush bed in the middle of a grey painted room, my reflection in the black TV on the wall showed a petite girl clad in a skimpy night dress that could barely cover her ass.
A wine bottle sat idly by on the round glass table that was beside the long sofa which was placed to the side of the room.
I stared blankly at the tightly closed door for a while before I heard the familiar sound of the lock opening and two bulky men walked in soon after and left the door open as they stood before me.
"To increase the thrill, you get it?" One of them explained the open door as his eyes wandered all over me with a perverse look in his eyes.
They looked well off, young and handsome, and the watches on their wrists told me they were wealthy too.
I smiled at them as I met their eyes and slowly dragged myself to the edge of the bed with my long legs in front, giving them a full view.
The already short dress rode up at the front, but I quickly stood up after just flashing them a little.
"You are not just beautiful, but also seem to know what you are supposed to do, I like that, a beauty with brains," the other one complemented as his hands loosened the buckle of his belt and he started to undress, with his friend doing the same.

Chapter 1 THE PLOT
Kassidy's POV:
"Get away from me you good-for-nothing bitch!" he shouted, and as I turned to run, he grabbed me by the arm and pulled me close. I struggled to get away, but his grip was too strong. He drew back his leg and kicked me, and I fell to the floor with a thud. I curled up, trying to protect myself from his blows, but they kept coming. I could hear him yelling obscenities at me, but I couldn't make out the words over the ringing in my ears. I was helpless, and I knew there was no escape.
I lay there on the floor, dazed and in pain, I thought about how I had ended up here. It all began a few years ago when my mother decided to get married to him because she didn't want me to grow up without a father figure. I never thought I needed a father, because the love my mum gave me was greater than anything that I could imagine. Everything turned upside down the moment she got married to this man, who made things difficult for both of us. Of course, men like him were always the pleasant ones, wanting to be everything in the beginning for the woman so she could let her guard down. My mother innocently thought he was going to be the best father for me. But that was the mistake she made.
"Get the fuck up!" He kicked me again on my aching rib causing me to groan in pain.
"Please... please stop," I begged, signaling to him. But he wasn't about to relent. He moved towards me and pulled me by the hair. "Ahhh," I screamed, tears stinging my eyes.
