All my life, I was told one thing: Never leave the mountain. No reason. No explanation. Just strict silence-as if the truth was a curse waiting to break. I am Keera Lovebird: A wolf who couldn't shift. A daughter of a legendary bloodline I could not awaken. I am cherished by my clan... and hated for the same reason. And then betrayal pushed me off a cliff and into a world I was never meant to see, leading me into Avari's High School for the supernatural-where monsters hide in daylight. There, I met Nicholas Black-the charming school hunk who is nothing but a mask for a cold hunter hiding a deadly transformation. Our fates collide. Our pasts unravel. And the truth breaks open like a blood-red moon: I am the last Lovebird. I am the hunted key. I am the doom of an ancient monster... or its final meal. When the Blood Moon rises, I must choose- revenge, redemption... or death.

TALES OF KEERA, THE BLOOD MOON CHOSEN Chapter 1 EIGHTEENTH CEREMONY...FAIL!

(Keera's POV)

*Put your hand on the crystal and close your hands, draw out the beast that resides in you from within, only then can you be called a werewolf, the noble beasts of the seven kingdoms.*

The voice echoed as I stood alone in the dark tent, my only source of light was the shining crystal mounted on the altar. This was not my first attempt, in fact, this was my eighteenth time in this tent, desperately trying to force out the 'soul' within me.

I took a deep breath and flexed my hands, cracking every bone in my fingers and wrists, which helped calm my anxious heart. Removing all thoughts from my mind, I made my way to the altar placing my hands on the orb.

The electric sensation crept suddenly to my fingers, numbing my entire body, but my heart was strangely at ease. It felt as if I was pulled to a calm island and all I needed to do was force the entity that resides in there to come out.

"Hello," I tried to communicate but I could not even speak before a force dragged me out of the Island.

"What the heck?" I screamed at the person at the back, my face scrunched up like a rag.

"Are you stupid? You are seriously bleeding and you are still holding on? You are not ready Keera." Mason scolded me while wiping out the blood from my nose. That was when it occurred to me that I was actually bleeding.

My face fell faster than a crashing plane, and before I could comprehend, I ran off, ignoring Mason's calls behind me.

"How long? I have been waiting desperately to clock 18 so I can summon my wolf, I'm 18 now and suddenly can't shift like every normal wolf. Everyone in my age have already summoned their wolf, what is this?" I cried out, my eyes swollen beyond recognition.

"Why are they so miserable? It's so frustrating." I shouted punching a rock with full force. The rock flew with speed and almost crashed into a delicate and petite girl of my age.

"No," I closed my eyes and held my hands on my head, my entire body shivering with fear.

"Are you done? You crybaby. Apart from whining and crying, what actually do you do all day?" A cold childish voice sounded.

"Eh," my mouth stood agape as I tried to comprehend how a girl that was almost 50miles could reach me in a millisecond.

"What?" The girl raised her eyebrows at me, staring at me like I was a fool. Her arrogance came as a shock to me. No matter how everyone treats me, no one usually shows their hatred so openly due to my mother's status.

"Do you know who I am?" I asked, rapidly regaining my composure.

"Of course I know, who does not know who you are? You are Keera, the daughter of the purest wolf, Viva Lovebird. You are the waste that cannot get her wolf out at age eighteen, the entitled brat who believes her life is miserable even when you literally have the entire wolf clan at your beck and call, that miserable being, isn't that you?"

"I know you, you are Alana right?" My smile instantly brought back the memory of who the girl was. I met her in the last foggy hunt, she won then. She became my once in a while talking friend since then. But each time I don't seem to recognize her at sight.

"Yes, you're right. Alana, the storm wolf, the chosen one of brute strength." She replied, grining.

"I wish that rock had smashed your head." I hissed and walked past Alana.

The chosen one of brute strength? So what? She is just a storm wolf, the lowest wolf of the Clan, no matter how much she tries, she can never get rid of her bloodline limitations. She can't be compared to me even when I'm a wannabe wolf with just some animalistic strength. I am way better.

This was my confidence! No matter how much I fail to awaken my wolf, as the only surviving Lovebird, the purest bloodline of the wolf tribe, I am already destined to be far more competent than any wolf.

"It could even be possible that I am facing such setbacks because of how unique my blood is?" I tried to make myself happy as I proceeded to the square.

(Alana's POV)

"What a waste of space." I could not help but utter. "How can someone be so shameless? She has no power at all, absolutely no physical strength and yet she tries to feel on top of the world? A total closer on every count."

Her arrogance poseed me off to no end, and in this maze battle, I will make sure she understands just what kind of loser she is.

(THE FOGGY HUNT)

The foggy Hunt, an annual celebration held after every awakening ceremony. The younglings will be left in a foggy forest, and they must find their way out of the foggy forest. The purpose is to teach the newly transformed wolves how to use their transformation to their own advantage.

"You may now begin." Without wasting much time, the governor blew the whistle. Immediately, the entire wolf boys began to transform into full-fledged wolves, some could only transform halfway, but one, one unique person standing out like a sore thumb... KEERA.

What is Keera doing here?

"Seriously, what are you doing here? Are you not tired of this hunt?"

We both asked no one in particular, just staring at each other dead in the eyes.

"Loser" I muttered as I sped past Keera.

"You damned storm wolf", I could hear Keera's furious roar from afar as she struggled to even run after my shadow. It was honestly so laughable, my curiosity arose, I was curious to see how long she would last trying to win without a wolf.

"It has been three hours, she should be tired and stopped by now." I paused and turned around surprised to see Keera swinging her entire weight forward, her face pale with fear while the demon ran after her trying to catch up with her.

"Careful!" I warned. I don't even know why I care.

I ran towards her and roared at the shadow behind her. A greul, a devilish creature of the ant that feeds on emotions and fear.

"Run and do not look back, just run straight, the fog will reveal itself," I shouted, transforming into a white colored wolf with grey strips all over. My fangs extended, and my long nails looked to rip the devilish being apart.

Luckily I did, but hewwwhhh!

I fell to my back, greedily gasping for air, because I lay dead the mangled body of the greul.

"I'd better start running", I exclaim, shooting up from the floor and running, despite my gait. As I came out of the fog, I could hear the loud cheers of the clansmen, even the elders, who are rarely seen, were excitedly talking.

"What? Did something good happen?" I have won the foggy hunt more than thrice and I have never seen this amount of jubilation."

"What happened? Why the cheer?" I quickly held a passing wolf.

"Are you deaf? The loser girl, Keera, actually worked the foggy hunt, and she has just been engaged to the son of thunder, Mason." The wolf explained, saliva pouring everywhere.

"This is so frustrating, she is a pure wolf, and Mason is the son of thunder wolf, can't they let us ordinary wolves breathe ohh?"

SMASH!

I could not think, I did not want to think, not, not.. MASON!

I WILL NOT ALLOW IT!

"No, this is a mistake! A wolfless, overweight werewolf can't be my mate." His words hit me hard. Alpha Bran of the Moonlight Pack doesn't even hesitate as he says it, his voice clear enough for everyone to hear. Whispers rise from the crowd almost immediately, spreading fast like wildfire. Disbelief. Judgment. Some don't even bother to lower their voices. No one tries to stop him. No one questions him. Not when it's their Alpha speaking. But I won't let them see how much it hurts. I won't give him that satisfaction. I square my shoulders and force a smile that feels like it might crack my face. "Well, Bran, I guess the Moon Goddess has a sense of humor after all," I say, ignoring the pain running through me. "Too bad she didn't give you one." Silence falls just as quickly as the whispers started. No one expects me to talk back. Not to him. Not to the Alpha. Bran's eyes turn red with anger, the faint glow of his wolf showing through. A warning. A reminder of who he is and who I am not. But I hold my ground. "Talia," he starts, his tone lower now, more dangerous, but I cut him off before he can continue. He is going to reject me anyway. There's no point letting him drag it out. "Don't worry, Bran," I say. "I'm sure there's some loophole you can find to get out of this. After all, you can't have someone like me ruining your perfect reputation, right?" A few gasps echo from the crowd. Wolves shift uneasily. Speaking to the Alpha like this is not just bold-it's wrong in every way the pack believes in. But I don't stop. The air feels tight, heavy with tension. For a moment, I see something shift in his eyes-uncertainty, maybe even conflict. The bond is there. I can feel it pulling at me. And I wonder if he feels it too. He turns away from me like I don't matter. "This conversation is over, Talia. You should leave." Just like that. No formal rejection. Just dismissal. It feels like something inside me cracks, but I don't show it. I won't give him or anyone else the chance to see me break. Not here. Not in front of wolves who already see me as less. I nod, keeping my head high, even though my chest feels tight. Then I turn and walk away, each step steady, even when it feels like I might fall apart at any second. Talia, a wolfless wolf in her pack has been a mocking object in her Pack just because she's fat, wolfless and eats like a glutton. Her situation turned worse when the Moon Goddess decided to give her Alpha Bran, their Pack 's Alpha as a mate. He rejected her on the spot. What would be Talia's fate after the rejection? Let's see.

As I lay on the floor of our manor, bleeding out from a ruptured ectopic pregnancy, I used my last ounce of strength to call my husband, Cole. I begged him for help, my vision blurring. But the only thing I heard was the clinking of champagne glasses and his mistress's giggle in the background. "Stop the drama, June," Cole snapped, his voice cold. "We're about to go on stage. Don't call again." He hung up, leaving me to die alone on the Persian rug while he accepted an award with another woman on his arm. I woke up in the hospital days later. My baby was gone. They had removed my fallopian tube. Cole finally arrived, smelling of expensive scotch and his mistress's perfume. He didn't hug me. He didn't cry. Instead, he leaned over my hospital bed, pressing his knee into the mattress until my fresh stitches tore open and bled. "You embarrassed me by calling an ambulance," he hissed. "My mistress, Alycia, says you're faking it. Clean yourself up." He left me bleeding again to go announce a $10 million donation to Alycia's "groundbreaking" medical research. I stared at the TV screen, numb. The research Alycia was taking credit for? It was mine. I wrote that patent years ago under a pseudonym. They thought I was just a poor, orphan housewife who needed Cole's money to survive. They had no idea I was actually a billionaire scientist hiding my identity. I pulled the IV needle out of my arm. A drop of blood fell onto the divorce papers I had been hiding. I didn't wipe it off. I signed my name right over it. Then I walked into the bank, reactivated my dormant account with $128 million, and bought the penthouse directly overlooking Cole's house. The mourning widow is dead. The avenger is born.

I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.
