My Self-Proclaimed Brother Regrets After My Marriage Chapter 1

I was picked up by Rylan Lloyd, and everyone knew that I loved him uncontrollably.

When his one true love, Madeline Yates, was injured, I donated blood to her until I was completely exhausted.

When he and Madeline were having sex, I provided them with condoms.

When Madeline returned from abroad, he made me wait for him in the snow for three hours wearing only a thin dress, and I ended up getting pneumonia and falling into a coma.

Upon waking, I had lost my memory and stared blankly at Rylan, who stood by my hospital bed with a frosty stare.

"Who are you?"

His icy demeanor suddenly softened as he touched my head and said, "I'm your brother."

Rylan then called my long-time rival, Aydan Baxter, claiming he was my fiancé.

Later, as he wished, I married Aydan, and Rylan regretted it...

With sharp pains piercing my lungs, I struggled to open my eyes, barely making out a tall figure standing by the bed.

The figure slowly bent down, and a face with striking features gradually became clear.

Seeing me awake, Rylan impatiently questioned, "Tessa Hewitt, is acting like this really worth it? Are you risking your life just to get me to come see you? You ruined the end of Madeline's concert. Do you know what a mess you've caused?"

His barrage of questions left me confused, and my head throbbed even more.

"I don't know you," I said in a hoarse voice, my hand fumbling towards the call button by the bed. "Please leave immediately, or I'll call for help."

Rylan sneered, his eyes filled with disdain, "Are you pretending to have amnesia? Isn't that old-fashioned?"

"I don't understand what you're saying." I finally pressed the button, and the sharp sound of the bell shattered the stagnant air in the hospital room. "Nurse! Someone is harassing me here!"

The piercing sound tore through the stillness of the room.

Rylan's face froze in surprise, seemingly unprepared for my action.

As the nurse's hurried footsteps approached, anger and some complex emotions were intensely struggling in his eyes.

Ultimately, his hand gently rested on the top of my head.

"I'm your brother."

"My brother?" I repeated instinctively, my voice hoarse.

Rylan's hand paused slightly on my head, his tone deliberately softened, "Yes, I'm here. Don't be afraid."

I blinked blankly, feeling no sense that he was my brother.

But the arriving nurse confirmed his claim as my guardian.

At this moment, the hospital room door opened, and a man with a distinguished and refined demeanor walked in.

He was handsome, with a calm and composed demeanor, and his well-tailored suit accentuated his strong shoulders.

Strangely, despite having no memory, the sight of him eased my tense nerves slightly.

Before he could speak, Rylan introduced, "Tessa, this is Aydan, your fiancé."

"My Fiancé?" I suddenly looked up at Aydan, my eyes wide with shock.

I woke up to find that I not only had an older brother, but also a fiancé?

Although Aydan was exceptionally handsome, the pace was far too rapid...

Aydan's reaction was even more pronounced.

He turned sharply to Rylan, frowned, "Who is her fiancé? Rylan, stop making random connections."

Well, my fiancé was not into me.

Rylan crossed his arms, confident, "She has amnesia."

Upon hearing this, Aydan's previous impatience and rejection subsided significantly, and a complex emotion flickered in his eyes.

It wasn't sympathy or concern but rather... amusement and curiosity.

"Alright then," Aydan stepped forward, extending his hand to me, "Come home with me."

Still in a daze, I handed my weak hand over to his hand almost without thinking.

"Tessa!" Rylan's face darkened instantly as he raised his hand, forcefully pressing my other shoulder down, pushing my half-risen body back onto the bed, "You're not married yet! She has to come home with me."

Aydan didn't release my hand. Instead, he tightened his grip.

He stepped forward, confronting Rylan, "Rylan. What she needs now is rest, not arguments."

Rylan's gaze, cold and piercing, fell upon our clasped hands.

The atmosphere instantly became tense.

Just when I thought the standoff would continue, Aydan suddenly released my hand.

Then, without warning, he bent down and, with remarkable agility, slipped his arms under my knees and across my back.

Under Rylan's shocked gaze, he lifted me steadily from the hospital bed.

"What are you doing!" Rylan roared.

"Taking her to the car," Aydan replied calmly.

"Aydan! Put her down!"

"Meet me at the hospital entrance." Aydan didn't stop.

I was held securely in his arms, feeling the steady beat of his heart-a stark contrast to the explosive anger radiating from Rylan.

Aydan carried me all the way to the hospital entrance, gently placing me in the back seat.

He even carefully tucked my stray bangs behind my ear. "Get some rest."

With that, he straightened up and nodded slightly at Rylan, who had caught up with us. "I'll leave her to you, Rylan."

Then he turned and walked away.

Rylan stood there, watching Aydan's departing figure, his gaze was so intense it seemed to burn with anger.

Finally, he slammed the car door and settled into the driver's seat.

The car drove for over half an hour before stopping in front of a grand mansion.

He led me to the second floor, pushing open a bedroom door. "This is your room. Get some rest. I'm going to pick up Madeline."

I didn't react at all to his display of affection because I saw that the room was filled with designer clothes, jewelry, and bags-all things I loved.

Any doubts I had about Rylan's identity faded significantly.

It seemed I really was his sister. My family was actually this wealthy.

Seeing my lack of response, Rylan's eyes flashed with irritation.

In the past, whenever I heard him mention Madeline, I would get teary-eyed and throw a tantrum, never as calm and detached as I was now.

This made him rather frustrated.

He frowned. "Did you hear me?"

I glanced up at him, oblivious to his emotional shift, my mind filled with thoughts about my fiancé. Casually, I said, "I heard you. Could you arrange for me to meet Aydan? I'd like to get to know him better."

As soon as the words left my mouth, Rylan's expression turned stormy.

He stared intently at me, as if struggling to suppress something, and finally, through gritted teeth, said, "I don't have time!"

With that, he stormed out, slamming the door behind him.

I shrugged, not caring about his anger at all.

Downstairs, the servants greeted me respectfully.

"Miss, would you like something to eat? Mr. Lloyd instructed us to make chicken soup for you."

"Sure," I replied cheerfully, taking a seat at the dining table.

Looking at the exquisite soup brought by the servant, my appetite improved considerably.

I had only taken a couple of sips when Rylan returned, accompanied by a woman with a gentle demeanor.

She must be Rylan's girlfriend.

As soon as Madeline entered, she saw me and looped her arm through his. "Rylan, sorry for the trouble."

Rylan looked down at her, his voice gentle in a way I had never heard before. "As long as you're fine. How did you end up in the pool at the party? You didn't catch a chill, did you?"

My spoon paused as I noticed Madeline's dress was soaked.

She shook her head slightly, but her gaze inadvertently landed on my nutritional food.

"I'm just a little cold. I can't seem to warm up at all. A hot soup would help." As she spoke, she kept her eyes fixed on my bowl.

Following her gaze, Rylan spoke to me without hesitation. "Tessa, give her your food. She fell into the pool and needs to eat it to recover."

I was stunned.

Wasn't this soup specially prepared for me, his recently discharged sister?

Yet now, just because Madeline mentioned she was cold, he wanted me to give it to her?

They weren't even married yet, and he wanted me to give my things to his girlfriend?

I frowned.

Madeline quickly tugged at Rylan's arm, feigning reluctance. "Don't be like that, Rylan. This was prepared for Tessa. She's just out of the hospital and needs it more. I can endure. It's no big deal."

"You don't need to endure it." Rylan frowned, signaling the servant, "Take it over."

The servant dared not refuse and moved forward to take the bowl.

I pressed my hand against the rim, looking up at him, speaking each word clearly, "You had this made for me."

Rylan's expression darkened, his eyes filled with impatience.

"Tessa, how can you be so insensitive? Madeline isn't feeling well. Isn't it right to let her have it? It's just a bowl of soup. You don't need to endure it. Why are you taking this so seriously?"

"You're right, Rylan." I stared into his eyes, which held undisguised annoyance, and sneered. "I don't need to take it so seriously."

The next second, I suddenly raised my hand and, without hesitation, violently swept the entire bowl of soup onto the floor!

I woke up on silk sheets that smelled of expensive cedar and cold sandalwood, a world away from my cramped apartment in Brooklyn. Beside me lay Ezra Gardner—my boss, the billionaire CEO of Gardner Holdings, and the man who could end my career with a snap of his fingers. He didn’t offer an apology for the night before; instead, he looked at me with terrifying clarity and proposed a cold, calculated business arrangement. "Marriage. It stabilizes the board and solves the PR crisis before it begins." He dressed me in archival Chanel and sent me home in his Maybach, but my life was already falling apart. My boyfriend, Irving, claimed he had passed out early, yet his location data placed him at my best friend’s apartment until three in the morning. When I tried to run, I realized Ezra was already ten steps ahead, tracking my movements and uncovering the secret I’d spent twenty years hiding: my connection to the powerful Senator Grimes. I was trapped between a CEO who treated me like a line item on a quarterly report and a boyfriend who had been using me while sleeping with my closest friend. I felt like a pawn in a game I didn't understand, wondering why a man like Ezra would walk up forty flights of stairs on a broken leg just to make sure I was safe. "Showtime, Mrs. Gardner." Standing on the red carpet in a gown that cost more than my life, I watched my cheating ex-boyfriend’s face turn pale as Ezra claimed me in front of the world. I wasn't just an assistant anymore; I was a weapon, and it was time to burn their world down.

I stood at my mother’s open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest’s voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone—he brought Charla with him. He claimed she’d had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.
