After enduring brutal IVF injections entirely alone to protect her husband's fragile ego about his infertility, Evelyn finally received a positive pregnancy test. But when she rushed to his Wall Street office to share the news, she found him kneeling on the floor, tenderly icing a microscopic scratch on his ex-girlfriend Gigi's ankle. Gigi had snooped through Evelyn's bathroom, found her old fertility drugs, and casually left them on his desk. Chadwick threw the pill bottle at Evelyn's feet, mocking her for being a barren liar and accusing her of faking a pregnancy just to guilt-trip him. When Gigi deliberately threw herself onto the lobby floor, he roared at Evelyn in front of fifty employees, calling his own wife a vicious monster. He even used her dying mother's cancer treatment to blackmail Evelyn into dropping the divorce for the sake of his corporate image. That night, just as Evelyn prepared a candlelit dinner to show him the official lab report, he abandoned her to rush to the ER because Gigi claimed she was in a horrific car accident. Evelyn followed him, only to watch him fiercely holding Gigi over a tiny paper cut, treating his ex like fragile glass. She finally realized that her years of silent sacrifice and the tiny life growing inside her meant absolutely nothing to him. As paparazzi swarmed the hospital to broadcast his affair, Chadwick's billionaire rival stepped up and shielded Evelyn from the cameras. "Are you finally ready to dissolve the prenuptial agreement?" This time, Evelyn didn't hesitate. She was ready to destroy them both.

The Unwanted Wife And Her Secret Pregnancy Chapter 1

Evelyn sat on the edge of the cold examination table.

The crinkling of the sterile paper beneath her thighs was the only sound in the room. Her palms sweat profusely, sticking to the smooth leather of her Birkin bag. She stared at the sterile white door. Her heart hammered against her ribs, a frantic, heavy rhythm that made it hard to draw a full breath.

The brass handle turned. Nurse Diaz pushed the door open, holding a crisp white medical folder against her chest.

The nurse flashed a warm, knowing smile. She walked forward and handed the folder directly to Evelyn.

Evelyn's fingers trembled as she took the cardboard. She opened the folder. Her eyes immediately locked onto the bolded hCG levels printed in black ink.

Positive. Four weeks pregnant.

A single tear of pure, unadulterated relief slid down Evelyn's cheek. It dripped off her jaw and landed on the paper. She pressed a trembling hand over her flat stomach. The heat of her own palm seeped through her silk blouse. It felt entirely surreal.

Nurse Diaz gently touched her shoulder.

"Congratulations, Mrs. Christensen."

"Thank you," Evelyn whispered. Her throat was tight, choked with the weight of a two-year nightmare finally ending.

She stared at the numbers. The crushing weight of hiding Chadwick's low sperm count diagnosis from his ruthless Wall Street family pressed against the back of her mind. She remembered the brutal IVF hormone injections. The sharp needles piercing her bruised stomach in the dead of night. She had endured it entirely alone to protect his fragile alpha-male ego.

"You can schedule your first official ultrasound at the front desk," Nurse Diaz said, stepping back.

Evelyn nodded. She carefully folded the lab report and slipped it into the inner pocket of her Birkin bag.

She stepped out of the consultation room and walked down the quiet, carpeted clinic hallway. The air smelled of rubbing alcohol and expensive air freshener.

Her cell phone buzzed relentlessly inside her bag.

She pulled it out. The screen lit up with her mother's name: Patricia Miller.

Evelyn answered the call. She couldn't keep the massive smile off her face.

"Did the clinic visit bring any good news?" Patricia asked immediately, her voice thin and raspy.

Evelyn hesitated. She touched the leather of her bag where the paper rested. She absolutely had to tell Chadwick face-to-face first. He needed to see the proof.

"It was just a routine vitamin check, Mom," Evelyn lied smoothly.

Patricia sighed heavily. The sound crackled through the speaker.

"We need to finalize the guest list for the century wedding ceremony," Patricia said, pivoting the conversation. "This public display is critical. It cements your place in the Christensen family before my health fails completely. You need that security, Evie."

"Chadwick is fully committed to the ceremony," Evelyn said, her voice steady. "Don't worry."

They ended the call. Evelyn stood in the hallway. She opened the Instagram app to distract herself from the lingering pressure of her mother's words.

The algorithm instantly loaded a new post at the very top of her feed.

It was a post from Gigi. Chadwick's notorious first love. The ultimate white swan of their social circle.

The photo displayed Gigi's manicured hand holding a signed divorce decree. The caption read: New Beginnings.

Evelyn's breath caught in her throat. A wave of cold dread washed over her joy, freezing the blood in her veins. Her stomach dropped.

She frantically shoved the phone into her pocket. She rushed out of the clinic doors and practically threw herself into the back of her waiting town car.

"Wall Street," Evelyn ordered her driver, Mitch. "Now."
