My Mr. Soldier Chapter 1 Betray

In a huge, dark blue-hued bedroom of a suburban villa, a scene about an R-rated play was unfolding, creating an ambiguous atmosphere in the entire room.

Cherry Shen had just returned from a business trip. She had exited from the airport and then hailed a taxi.

While in the vehicle, Cherry Shen gazed at the scenery outside the window, and a smile appeared on her face. At this very moment, she was feeling so excited. All she wanted to do was meet the man she had loved so deeply all along.

Cherry Shen pulled out the spare key John Ye had given her and opened the villa's door.

As soon as Cherry Shen entered the house, she heard a strange voice. It sounded like a woman's voice. Pushing open the door, the sight of her sister, Jean Shen, lying naked on top of John Ye greeted her.

"What is this? I can't believe my boyfriend is having sex with my sister!"

Standing in the doorway, Cherry Shen felt angry. She screamed, "John Ye, Jean Shen!"

Cherry Shen's voice brought their intimate act to an abrupt halt.

John Ye tensed at the sight of the incomparable wrath on her beautiful face. His heartbeat too quickened. He immediately picked up his clothes, which were lying on the ground, and put them on hastily.

Jean Shen was still in bed, pulling the quilt around her body to cover it up. But in her heart, she was cursing Cherry Shen. 'This bitch is definitely my nemesis. How dare she come here and sabotage my plans!'

John Ye put on his clothes, went to Cherry Shen and, nervously, explained, "Cherry, you are misunderstanding this. It is not what..."

But before John could finish his sentence, Cherry Shen raised her hand and slapped him across his face.

"John Ye, I will not let you touch me! You can now go find another woman. I am breaking up with you!" With these words, Cherry Shen turned and left, holding back her tears. She despaired at this deep insult and hurt.

Gazing at her receding figure, John Ye's heart was filled with anguish. He had never imagined that he would fail to resist temptation, and this will result in his beloved leaving him.

It was midnight. In the bar, neon lights shone all over the hall.

Cherry Shen was sitting in a chair in front of the bar counter. She was holding the wine that her friend Emily Xia had sent to her. She gulped it down and emptied the cup.

Emily Xia felt sad, watching her friend Cherry Shen drowning herself in alcohol. But she was at a loss for words that would comfort her. During their university years, this earnest senior could get down on one knee to express his dedication to Cherry Shen. But now, he has lived in society for so long, that his core values must also have changed. As for Jean Shen, her heart had always been filled with envy, while her enmity towards Cherry Shen had never decreased.

Cherry Shen was highly intoxicated. Staring at the last drop of wine in the cup, she said to Emily Xia, "Emily, do you think there is something I owe the world? Why did it have to be Jean Shen with John Ye? Why?"

Emily Xia moved her lips, but eventually said nothing.

"Interesting." Cherry Shen laughed softly, her eyes filled with pain, hatred and helplessness. "John Ye, you son of bitch! Jean Shen, I hate you!"

And with these words, Cherry Shen drank the last drop of wine in the cup.

It was already early morning. In the bar, Emily Xia looked at Cherry Shen who was lying on the bar counter, completely drunk. She wanted to take her to the hotel across the street. But she was on duty and couldn't just leave. She could only ask her colleague's help in taking Cherry Shen to the hotel, so that Cherry could rest.

Cherry Shen was taken to the hotel by Emily Xia's colleague. Fueled by alcohol, Cherry Shen insisted that she could find the room on her own. So Emily's colleague left her by the elevator and departed.

Cherry Shen staggered out of the elevator, looking for Room 522. However, when she reached Room 521, she saw that the door was already open. Without thinking further, she murmured to herself, "That's it. The service staff must have opened the door for me!"

And then she entered the room.

Cherry Shen walked around the hotel room, gazing at the huge white bed with a white sheet and quilt on it. It exuded a sense of comfort.

She was soon overcome by drowsiness. Cherry Chen's brain stopped thinking, and she did not even notice the sound of water coming from the bathroom. Walking to the bed, she lay down, closed her eyes and was soon in deep slumber.

The man in the bathroom had bronze skin and a muscular frame. His entire body conveyed that he had received professional training. Water flowed down his perfectly-sculpted face, which appeared to be permanently aloof.

Jackson Chu turned off the shower and the sound of running water stopped abruptly. He took the towel next to him and dried his hair. He then tied the towel around his waist and got out of the bathroom.

When Jackson Chu reached the bed, he winced with surprise at what he saw.

When did this woman come into the room? Had this five-star hotel sent her to him as a present, since he was a VIP member here?

Jackson Chu slowly approached the bed, gazing at the woman on the bed. There was a faint smell of alcohol coming from the woman. Her face had no makeup on it, and that made her look fresh. Her unruly hair reflected her natural beauty, as did her delicate face which was not extraordinarily beautiful but still attractive.

Jackson Chu found himself staring uncontrollably at the woman on the bed. Though her slender figure was not voluptuous, her presence was irresistibly attractive.

Unexpectedly, a girl cropped up in his mind. Her simplicity, sweet smile and cute face had been always in his mind for more than 10 years. There was a sadness behind Jackson Chu's eyes. "Where are you? Are you happy?"

He turned his attention back to the woman on the bed. Jackson Chu felt uncomfortable. Damn, he had now become enamored to one more girl, in addition to the first one!

Jackson Chu reasoned that this woman had neither an attractive face nor an enchanting body. In fact, nothing about her interested him. However, his feelings eventually triumphed over reason, and this started a game of self-torture within him.

I spent three years playing the role of a submissive, small-town wife for Evertt Baker, trading my true identity for a quiet life in a Manhattan penthouse. I thought my devotion would be enough to build a real home, but I was just a placeholder in his grand design. The illusion shattered at 2 AM when Evertt walked in smelling of Chanel No. 5—the signature scent of his mistress, Adda. Without a word of apology, he dropped divorce papers on the table, demanding I sign them immediately so he could finally be with the woman he truly loved. He looked at me with pure disgust, flicking a five-million-dollar check toward me as if he were paying off an incompetent employee. He told me it was more money than anyone from my "trailer park" background would ever see and ordered me to hurry because Adda was waiting in the car downstairs. He didn't care that I had spent years nursing him through illness and tolerating his family’s insults; he only cared about his own convenience. The sheer arrogance of his payout and the blatant disrespect of bringing his mistress to our home was the final blow. I realized that the man I loved never actually saw me, only the submissive shadow I had forced myself to become. I signed the papers with a fluid scrawl he didn't bother to check, then I fed his millions into the office shredder. I pulled a hidden, encrypted device from a kitchen drawer and dialed a number I hadn't called in three years. "Brother," I said, my voice finally steady. "Come get me. The game is over." Evertt thought he was discarding a penniless nobody, but he was about to find out that he had just declared war on the Stafford empire.

I was sitting in the Presidential Suite of The Pierre, wearing a Vera Wang gown worth more than most people earn in a decade. It was supposed to be the wedding of the century, the final move to merge two of Manhattan's most powerful empires. Then my phone buzzed. It was an Instagram Story from my fiancé, Jameson. He was at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris with a caption that read: "Fuck the chains. Chasing freedom." He hadn't just gotten cold feet; he had abandoned me at the altar to run across the world. My father didn't come in to comfort me. He burst through the door roaring about a lost acquisition deal, telling me the Holland Group would strip our family for parts if the ceremony didn't happen by noon. My stepmother wailed about us becoming the laughingstock of the Upper East Side. The Holland PR director even suggested I fake a "panic attack" to make myself look weak and sympathetic to save their stock price. Then Jameson’s sleazy cousin, Pierce, walked in with a lopsided grin, offering to "step in" and marry me just to get his hands on my assets. I looked at them and realized I wasn't a daughter or a bride to anyone in that room. I was a failed asset, a bouncing check, a girl whose own father told her to go to Paris and "beg" the man who had just publicly humiliated her. The girl who wanted to be loved died in that mirror. I realized that if I was going to be sold to save a merger, I was going to sell myself to the one who actually controlled the money. I marched past my parents and walked straight into the VIP holding room. I looked the most powerful man in the room—Jameson’s cold, ruthless uncle, Fletcher Holland—dead in the eye and threw the iPad on the table. "Jameson is gone," I said, my voice as hard as stone. "Marry me instead."

I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.
