My CEO Husband: Triumphant Return To Love Chapter 1 A Blind Date During The Daytime

The city lights were brighter than the stars above them, especially in an international metropolis like H City.

In a presidential suite of the Hilton Hotel.

Soothing music echoed across the large room. The moonlight sprinkled across the king-sized bed through a floor-to-ceiling windows.

Vivien Pei felt like she was floating in dream-like clouds. It was something she had never felt before. She never had such an experience.

Although it was just a dream, she could feel everything happening around her. It was as if it had actually happened. Strange.

Vivian Pei slowly opened her eyes in confusion as she thought back to what had happened.

Before Jeffrey Shen could speak, Vivian Pei quickly interrupted him,

"I can't believe this! I thought you were nice when we had our blind date. I must've been on drugs!"

Vivian Pei was the eldest daughter of the Pei Family. Normally, she wouldn't usually go on blind dates, but this was considered an exception. The Pei Group had been suffering from financial difficulties recently. Now, they needed a sum of money to get them out of their predicament. She had no choice but to follow her father's wishes in going on a blind date.

Her blind date was none other than Jeffrey Shen, the eldest son of the most powerful family in the city.

"There must've been some misunderstanding."

During their blind date, he actually had a good time with Vivian Pei. Being a traveling reporter, she had traveled almost all over the globe. She had so many stories hidden in that little head of hers, and she was also extremely funny. Not only was she an avid talker, but she was also smart. She could give him an advice or two about his company. That was for sure.

If things had gone out like the way it was, they would've been married in a span of two months.

But now, everything had changed.

She had slept with him!

"How could you, Jeffrey? It seems that I was wrong about you!" she sputtered out, not really knowing what else to say.

He frowned when she stood up from bed.

He didn't expect that things would turn out the way it did.

It was Riley Zheng. She handed him that glass of wind and told him that Vivian Pei was upstairs. She had also added how the woman had been satisfied with their date. Then Jeffrey Shen had gone up there with good intentions.

It seemed that Riley Zheng had lied to him.

"You're so screwed, Riley,"

Jeffrey murmured. His face was as cold as ice.

He wouldn't allow anyone to hurt Vivian Pei. In fact, he wouldn't allow anyone to lay a hand on the Pei Family.

After changing her clothes, she shot him a glare.

At the sight of her cold gaze, Jeffrey Shen had something bad stirred in his stomach.

"Vivian, let me explain!"

He stood up. Her eyes gleamed with unshed tears, but she wasn't going to cry in front of him. She wouldn't dare.

"Let me make this clear. I would never marry you! I would rather die alone in this world than be tied to you. I don't want to see you again!"

After saying that, she turned on her heel and strutted out of the room.

His heart ached at her words. Before Vivian could leave, Jeffrey grabbed her wrist and pulled her back.

"Before I went upstairs, Riley gave me a glass of wine and..."

"Jeffrey! You have the guts to do what you did, but you don't even want to admit what you've done? Do you really want to blame Riley? Are you even a man?"

She struggled under his grip, snarling,

"Let me go! Maybe then, I'll remember one good thing about you."

Hearing this, the man loosened his grip.

She stared at him helplessly.

Putting aside what had happened between them, Vivian had to admit that the guy was incredibly handsome. But after what he did, there was no way she was going to forgive him.

"We'll talk about this later."

After giving him a hard kick, she stalked out of the room.

It was not until she returned home did she finally cry. The tears that she held back for so long rushed down her cheeks as she sniffled.

Fortunately, it was already late at night, and all the servants had gone to bed.

Although she didn't believe Jeffrey's words, Vivian still wanted to ask her sister why the man was in her room.

In order not to wake anyone up, she tiptoed up the third floor and towards her sister's room.

The door was already ajar. But before she could knock, her sister's voice echoed out the corridor. Vivian froze.

"Vivian and I are daughters of the Pei Family, but why do I have to be Zheng? It's not like I'm uglier than her. Hell, I'm in much better shape than that bitch. But as long as she's here, it's as if no one wanted to pay attention to me," she snarled. "They would forever see me as some daughter of one of his mistresses. I hate her! Mom, you're already the official wife now, right? Yet everyone still thinks of her as the real daughter of the Pei Family. It's ridiculous!"

Kelly Zheng, or Mrs. Pei, felt heartbroken when she heard her daughter's words. Her beautiful face was distorted into one that was similar to a fire-breathing beast.

Suddenly, a vicious smile slipped into her lips. "Don't worry. If I could get rid of Claire, then Vivian's going to be a piece of cake. You won't be seeing her once I'm done."

With a sly smile, Riley snorted. "Right? Did she really think that she could hook up with Jeffrey? Do you think I could let go of her that easily? After what would happen tonight, he wouldn't even look at her. He'd just think of that bitch as someone we'd exchange for money. Who would fall in love with such a cheap thing?"

Kelly Zheng nodded in approval. "The Shen Family is not just any ordinary family. If they know that Vivian and Jeffrey shared a bed before marriage, he would definitely reject the marriage."

"Exactly!"

Hearing their conversation, Vivian couldn't take it anymore.

She pushed the door open. "How could you do this to me?" she demanded. "What the hell did I do to make you hate me this much?"

Kelly hurriedly stood up. Her smug face immediately turned to one filled with sadness and innocence. "Vivian, it's not what you think-"

"Cut the act, Mom. You don't need to explain it to her." Riley waved her hand

before strutting up to her so-called 'sister'. She had to admit that Vivian was a true beauty. Vivian had a small oval face with delicate features that heightened her bright eyes. However, there was something about her that made Riley want to cut her face.

"Well? What if we did set you up? What do you care? Aren't you a daughter of the Pei Family? Shouldn't you do something to help us? As long as you have sex, then Jeffrey would give everything to us."

Vivian clenched her fists. "And driving my brother away? Did you also do that for the sake of the Pei Family?"

"You shouldn't say such awful things..." Kelly covered her mouth. "It was the servant who lost him. We have nothing to do with it."

"Drop the act. I've heard what you just said," Vivian snapped.

The old woman smiled innocently. "You must've heard it wrong. How could I have done such a thing? I've always treated you like my own children."

"I never knew that you'd sell your children like they're objects," Vivian snarled.

It was then when she saw their true colors. It seemed that they weren't good as she had thought. They were actually hiding their disgusting and hideous souls.

"It's late at night. Why are you so noisy?" Albert Pei walked over, wondering what the noise was all about. "Why are you being so thoughtless? Kelly was just thinking about your date, and you treat her like this? Apologize to her!"

"Dad! Don't let them convince you. They were planning to sell me!" Vivian exclaimed, pointing at them. "In fact, they set me up to have sex with Jeffrey."

"Albert, Vivian just didn't want to go to her date, so she came back with a bad temper," Kelly murmured innocently, making a long face. "Don't yell at her. Just let her vent her anger at me. Maybe she'll better."

"Do you hear that? Do you see how nice your stepmother is?"

Vivian clenched her fists. "Dad, why can't you stop being so oblivious? Do you even see what that woman is doing to you? She already tried to sell me. In fact, she's also the one who lost my brother, your son! She even said it herself!"

Albert Pei pointed at her. His hand was trembling. "You-You..."

Suddenly, he slumped back and lost consciousness.

"Albert!" Kelly rushed towards him as her arms flailed in different directions.

"Vivian! How dare you?" she shrieked. "Riley, go and call an ambulance."

My life with Liam was flawless. He was the brilliant tech entrepreneur, and I was his cherished wife, expecting our first child, Lily. Everyone said we were the perfect couple, and I believed it. Then, a crack appeared. It started small – hushed phone calls, a secretive smile not meant for me, a promising new intern named Chloe Davis. Today, the crack shattered our lives. Liam, who' d never missed a check-up, abandoned me for a "huge deal" and a presentation where Chloe was the star. Alone at the doctor' s, the cold dread in my heart eclipsed the perfect flicker of Lily's heartbeat on the ultrasound. Later, a news article confirmed my worst fears. Liam, beaming with adoration, presenting Chloe with keys to a luxury car on stage. The public admiration for her "integrity" twisted the knife. It wasn' t just infidelity; it was a grotesque, public performance that humiliated me. The shock morphed into a chilling rage when I found the pre-signed divorce agreement Liam had given me on our wedding day – an "insurance policy" for his infidelity. He had promised me everything if he ever wronged me. The man who wrote that was gone, replaced by a stranger who had made me a fool. But the final, brutal blow came at the hospital. Drugged, I overheard Liam and the doctor. They had induced premature labor, risking Lily' s life, just so Chloe could move in as a "live-in assistant." I tried to scream, knowing instantly they were going to take my baby. They thought I was weak, broken. But as the horror consumed me, a thought pierced through the haze: the email. The one confirming my connection with Ethan Hayes, Liam' s bitter rival. A seed of revenge had been planted just as my world burned down.

I was 39 weeks pregnant, eagerly nesting for our daughter, Emily. Our Austin home was filled with dreams of a perfect new family. My ambitious architect husband, Ethan, traveled constantly for "high-stakes" projects. But I trusted our future. Then, breaking news flashed across the screen: a military coup in South America. On it, his award-winning documentary filmmaker ex-girlfriend, Olivia, was caught in the chaos, presumed in grave danger. That same night, as my first contractions began, Ethan dropped a bombshell. He was flying to South America immediately. Not for business, but for her. He walked out as my water broke. He was choosing his ex over his wife and unborn child. Days later, news of Ethan's critical injury reached me. It unleashed a barrage of demands from his family and friends. They expected me to rescue him, to pay his escalating medical bills. They expected me to be the forgiving "dutiful wife"—despite his shocking betrayal. But the deepest cut came when my lawyer unearthed the truth. For years, Ethan had been secretly siphoning thousands from our joint savings. He was taking from our daughter's future, funneling it to Olivia's 'humanitarian' non-profit. It wasn't just abandonment. It was a cold, systematic betrayal, built on lies. How could he do this to us, to Emily? I refused to follow his family's script. When a critically injured Ethan finally returned, expecting forgiveness and a tearful reunion, I was there. Not as a heartbroken wife. Instead, I was armed with divorce papers and a fierce determination to reclaim every penny he stole. This was my battle, for Emily and for me. It was the beginning of a new life on our own terms.

For ten years, I was Lily, the devoted apprentice, the silent force behind Master Thomas, the legendary sculptor. My hands, scarred and stained, shaped his clay, sharpened his tools, and managed his chaotic life, making his artistic legacy my own. Our bond was a monument, forged in the dust and silence of his mountain studio, beyond simple love or romance, more enduring than any fleeting passion. Then, one Tuesday, the monument cracked. Master Thomas, beaming like a madman, introduced Serena: a gaudy, perfume-drenched city creature who declared herself his "new muse." And then came the final blow, echoing in the stunned silence of the workshop: "She has agreed to become my wife." The woman who replaced me had never touched a block of clay in her life. His betrayal was a public declaration that my decade of devotion meant nothing, that I was easily discarded for a fleeting fancy. My fellow apprentices seethed, ready to protest this injustice, wondering why I merely offered a small, imperceptible nod. How could I contain the storm raging inside me? How could I let them see the truth – the bitter rage, the cutting contempt for this senile old goat who dared to light his own legacy on fire for a minute of warmth? But I had a dangerous secret: some secrets are not kept. A strange, new connection had just begun, allowing another apprentice, Leo, to hear my true thoughts-the ones I locked away behind my serene facade. He heard my silent, scathing assessment of Serena, my quiet strategies, and my fierce protection of the younger apprentices when Thomas demanded I bow to his new "Mistress." The battle had just begun, and the old man, lost in his infatuation, had no idea I wasn' t just a sculptor. I was a warrior, and it was time to reclaim what was mine.

I sat on the edge of the examination table, the crinkle of the sanitary paper sounding like thunder in the sterile room. The doctor didn't even look at me as he confirmed the news: the pregnancy was over. My husband, Keyon, didn't answer my call. He just sent an automated text: "In a meeting." When I returned to our cold mansion, I found his iPad glowing with a message from his "muse," Katina. He was throwing her a secret gala tonight-on our third wedding anniversary. He told her he couldn't wait to escape the "boring" and "draining" atmosphere I created at home. Keyon didn't stumble in until 3 AM, smelling of Katina's perfume with a smear of red on his collar. When I handed him the divorce papers, he laughed in my face. He called me a "glorified housekeeper" with no skills and no future, promising I'd be back in three days begging for a subway ticket. He even bet his friends ten thousand dollars that I wouldn't survive a week without his name. He had his assistant cancel my credit cards and block my gate access before I even reached the end of the driveway. He wanted me to starve. He wanted me to crawl. He sat in his office, mocking the "desperate" woman who pawned her three-million-dollar wedding ring for scrap metal just to pay for a meal. I stood on the rainy curb, watching the man I had protected for three years treat my life like trash. He didn't know about the ultrasound I just threw in the bin. He didn't know that while he was calling me "dull," I was the one secretly writing the code that kept his billion-dollar empire from collapsing. As I slid into a cheap Uber, I opened a hidden, encrypted app on my phone. The screen refreshed to a dashboard for an account Keyon didn't know existed. The balance was ten figures long-the accumulated wealth of "Solaris," the world's most elusive tech genius. Keyon thinks he just evicted a parasite, but he's about to find out he just declared war on the only person who can hit "delete" on his entire life.

I stood in the darkest corner of the Pierre Hotel’s ballroom, my cheap polyester dress itching against my skin while my wristband buzzed with a DARPA Priority Red alert. In front of the city’s elite, my fiancé Bryce Calloway took the stage, not to toast our future, but to publicly end our engagement and announce he was with my sister, Chloe. The room turned on me instantly, a hundred pairs of eyes pinning me down with pity and disgust as they physically backed away like I was contagious. When I returned home, my mother shattered a crystal vase at my feet, screaming that I was a humiliation and a "dropout" who didn't deserve a cent of the family fortune. Chloe and Bryce mocked me, laughing when I told them I had a mission with the National Security Agency, convinced I was either a pathological liar or a low-level criminal. They watched in horror as a black, unmarked military helicopter descended on our backyard to extract me, yet they still chose to believe I was being arrested for drug trafficking. They saw a pathetic girl who couldn't even parallel park, never realizing I was Dr. Nova Vance, the lead physicist behind the world's first successful fusion reactor. To secure funding for my research and gain a "fortress" of a name, I signed a thirty-day marriage contract with the arrogant billionaire Roman Knight. He treats me like a fraud, convinced I’m a gold-digger who failed out of college, while I quietly run global energy simulations from his guest bedroom. He has no idea that the "loser" he’s forced to live with is the same anonymous grandmaster who has been ruthlessly crushing him in online strategy games for months. "The contract is active," I told him, looking past his expensive suit. "But don't expect me to be your maid."

The heavy iron gates of the Wilderness Correction Camp groaned as they released me after three years of state-sponsored hell. I stood on the dirt road, clutching a plastic bag that held my entire life, waiting for the family that claimed they sent me there for "rehab." My brother, Brady, picked me up in a luxury SUV only to throw me out onto a deserted highway in the middle of a brewing storm. He told me I was a "public relations nightmare" and that the rain might finally wash the "stink" of the camp off me. He drove away, leaving me to limp miles through the mud on a snapped ankle. When I finally dragged myself to our family estate, my mother didn't offer a hug; she gasped in horror because my muddy clothes were ruining her Italian marble. They didn't give me my old room back. Instead, they banished me to a moldy gardener’s shack and hired a "babysitter" to make sure I didn't embarrass them further. My sister, Kaleigh, stood there in white cashmere, pretending to cry while clinging to her fiancé, Ambrose—the man who had once been mine. They all treated me like a volatile junkie, refusing to acknowledge that Kaleigh was the one who planted the drugs in my bag three years ago. They wanted to believe I was broken so they wouldn't have to feel guilty about the "wellness retreat" that was actually a torture chamber. I sat in the dark of that shed, feeling the cooling gel on the cigarette burns that covered my arms, and realized they had made a fatal mistake. They thought they had erased me, but I had returned with a roadmap of scars and a hidden satellite phone. At dinner, I didn't beg for their love. I simply rolled up my sleeves and showed them the price of their silence. As the wine spilled and the lies crumbled, I sent a single text to the only person I trusted: "I'm in. Let them simmer." The hunt was finally on.

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch—a titan of industry and my best friend’s father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.
