Billionaire's Bride: Eternal Love Chapter 1 I'm Not Cassie

It hurt. A lot. When the pale woman on the bed regained consciousness, the first feeling that came to her was a searing pain in the head.

Especially at back just above her nape, it was so painful that it felt like her head was going to explode.

When she opened her eyes, she saw the off-white ceiling of the ward as the smell of disinfectant in the hospital filled the air.

'What about that child...'

At that moment, the door of the ward was pushed open and a tall figure walked in.

The woman raised her head and saw a handsome face carved like a sculpture at a glance. Under his thick black eyebrows was a pair of black and sharp eyes, which were as deep as the boundless starry sky. It would only take one glance to get attracted by this man.

Feeling the gaze from Ivy Rong, Max Hua frowned.

Ivy Rong was frightened by his cold stare. Coming to her senses, she cleared her throat before asking in a low voice, "Who are you?"

Looking at the silly look on her face, the man sneered, "Who am I? What kind of question is that? Cassie Song, stop playing tricks on me. They're not funny. You have to pull yourself together! What's with all the trouble you are going through? Pretending to have lost your memory?"

'Cassie Song?' She knew that she was not this Cassie Song he was talking about. But what was her name? How could she not know her own name?

Staring at the man standing in front of her, she asked with concern, "How is the child?"

"Child? Don't worry. It's settled. You just rest and don't get into any more accidents. I will keep my word. You will be the hostess of the Hua family! Do you understand?"

Max Hua hated it whenever she pretended to be innocent.

Ivy Rong looked at him in a daze. When she heard that the kid was safe, she breathed a sigh of relief.

But the main problem remained. Ivy Rong turned to look at Max Hua and said, "Sir, I really don't know you. And my name is not Cassie Song. My name is..."

Before she could finish her words, her chin was gripped by his slender fingers.

He lifted her chin with his rough fingertips and forced her to look up.

This way, her gaze landed on a pair of deep eyes that were coming to her own face, closer and closer. "Cassie, do you really not remember?"

When Ivy saw the owner, Max's handsome face up close, her heart beat crazily. "Once again, I'm really not Cassie!"

"Cassie, stop playing tricks. It's not funny at all!" Squinting his eyes with a cold expression, Max Hua took out his phone with one hand, found a photo and put it in front of Ivy Rong. "Here. I need you to look long and hard. I dare you to say that this is not you."

She looked at the photo. The woman in the picture was exactly the same as her, and the man standing next to the woman was the man in front of her now.

What the hell was going on?

She raised her head in confusion, staring at the handsome face of Max Hua. The man's aura was almost overwhelming and anyone would want to drown in those mysterious eyes.

He started kissing her, and she couldn't make him stop.

Just when she thought she was about to suffocate, a slight numbness bloomed on her lips.

He was biting her lips!

It was not until Ivy's whole body began to tremble that Max stopped and raised his head with satisfaction. This woman was unexpectedly delicious. His dark eyes slightly deepened further.

With a complicated expression on his face, he asked in a low voice, "Do you remember it now?"

He looked at her as if she was creating trouble out of nothing - the true mark of a menace.

Ivy looked at him, took a deep breath and said, "I'm sorry. I really can't remember. Who are you?"

Her eyes, which were supposed to be full of schemes, were filled with nothing but sincerity, which caught Max off guard, unable to react for a moment.

He looked straight at her with his deep eyes and said in an embarrassed voice, "I'm your fiance, Max Hua."

As he spoke, he slowly approached her again, reached out and pinched her cheek. He raised her face and looked at it carefully. Then he squinted at her and pronounced every syllable, "Re-mem-ber?"

Ivy nodded. She was afraid that this handsome man would suddenly kiss her again.

Her mind was a mess. She couldn't remember what happened, and now she was engaged to a man she didn't even know. It was like a joke on her from God.

But she had no choice but to accept it, because the photo seemed genuine, and the noble man in front of her did not look like a liar at all.

Although she still felt that something was wrong, she put it in the back of her mind. It seemed that her life did not use to be like this at all.

Looking at the hesitant look on Ivy's face, he put his bony palm gently on her head and said, "Don't worry. I'll find the best doctor for you."

'After all, she is still useful to me.' he pondered as his eyes sank deeper.

Ivy wasn't seriously injured. She could be discharged from the hospital after a few days of treatment and rest.

During this period, Max came to see her every day, which made her a little more familiar with him. However, she still didn't like having him around.

The man in front of her was so powerful that she couldn't dare to approach him.

Max felt something strange. In the past, when she saw him, she would follow him everywhere. But now, why did she have feelings of dislike for him?

Ivy's memory went blank. The only thing she could remember was that when a child was about to be hit by a car, she pushed him out of the car's path.

She looked at Max and asked, "Am I leaving the hospital today?"

Taking a glance at Ivy, who had already started packing her clothes, Max was slightly surprised and asked, "When did you start wearing those cheap clothes?"

Hearing this, Ivy was a little stunned. She raised her head and looked at Max in confusion. "Why would the price matter so much? It's just clothes, right? What's the big difference?"

'She not only pretends to lose her memory, but also pretends to be frugal?'

Turning to the other side, Max said, "You'd better remember what you said today!"

He frowned deeply, wanting to see how long she could hold on with such an innocent look!

Ivy felt distressed. How could she have such a fiance?

Thinking of this, she blurted out, "Well, Mr. Hua, could you please cancel the engagement with me?"

Upon hearing this question, Max, who was about to leave, stiffened and suddenly turned around. He looked at Ivy with cold eyes and said, "Do you have any idea what you are talking about?"

Although it was said in a calm voice, Ivy inexplicably sensed the suppressed anger brewing in him. She timidly looked at Max and said, "I know. I just feel that we are not the right ones for each other..."

What she wanted to say actually was that they were totally from different worlds. How would she live a happy life with this man then? However, she didn't dare to speak it out loud.

Did she really think that he, Max, would fall in love with such a scheming woman? How ridiculous! She must be dreaming! He looked at Ivy with his deep-set eyes and approached her with broad steps.

The tall figure, with a confident stance and an over-all domineering attitude, directly shrouded Ivy in his shadow.

His rough fingers gently pinched her chin and forced her to raise her head. When he saw the evasive look in her eyes, he said slowly, "Don't you remember... the things that you have done, in order for you to secure the position as Mrs. Hua? Now that you have already won it, are you really willing to give it all up, just like that?"

His voice suddenly became emotionless, even ghostly. Looking at the hint of viciousness flashing in his eyes, Ivy couldn't help looking aside and said weakly, "What have I done?"

I lay on a mildewed mattress in a run-down motel, my body trembling from withdrawal. Once the most feared "Gossip Queen" in Hollywood, I was now a forty-three-year-old ghost staring at a cracked mirror, waiting for the end. The door clicked open, and Brittany Potts stepped in, looking immaculate in a beige trench coat that cost more than my life. She didn't come to help; she tossed a waiver of marital assets onto my bed and handed me a cup of coffee laced with something that smelled like bitter almonds. She laughed, telling me my husband, Bennet, was already in the Bahamas celebrating my death. I froze when I saw the sapphire pendant around her neck—my mother’s necklace, which had vanished the day she died. As the poison began to burn through my chest, Brittany leaned in and whispered her final secret: she was the one who cut the brake lines on the car that killed my father when we were teenagers. My entire life had been a lie. The pills, the scandal, the bankruptcy—it was all a masterpiece of betrayal orchestrated by the two people I trusted most. I died on that filthy floor, suffocating on my own rage and the taste of chemicals, praying for a single chance to make them pay. But when I opened my eyes, the pain was gone. I was sitting in my old bedroom, the morning sun shining on a calendar that read September 15, 2024. My mother’s voice, warm and alive, called me for breakfast from downstairs. I was eighteen again, back in my senior year at Crestview Academy, and the monsters who destroyed me were still pretending to be my friends. This time, I’m the one who holds the shears.

The world came back in a rush of white. White ceiling, white sheets, the sterile smell of antiseptic. My head throbbed. I was in a hospital. My fiancé, Cameron, rushed to my bedside, his face creased with worry. I decided to play a prank, pretending I had amnesia. "Who... who are you?" I whispered. His relief evaporated, replaced by a calculating look. He showed me a picture of another woman, Hannah Nichols, an intern at his family's company. "She's the woman I love," he said, his voice flat. "But you and I are getting married. Our families have an agreement. A business merger. It's too important to fail." My mind reeled. The man I loved was telling me our entire relationship was a lie. I felt a surge of fury. "Then call it off," I snapped. He grabbed my wrist, panic in his eyes. "If this merger falls through, my family is ruined. Hannah... she's very fragile. The stress would destroy her." My life, my love, my future-it was all just collateral damage in his pathetic, selfish drama. I was nothing more than a business deal. The witty, proud Alicia England, heiress to a tech empire, reduced to a bargaining chip. Later, I heard him on the phone, his voice soft and tender. "Don't worry, Hannah. It's all under control. She has amnesia. She doesn't remember a thing. Love me? Of course, she loves me. She's been obsessed with me since we were kids. It' s almost pathetic." My heart shattered. He thought I was a broken, forgetful fool he could manipulate. He was about to find out how wrong he was.

I thought I was waking up in the arms of Arthur, the man I loved. But as the morning light hit the Hamptons estate, the man buttoning his cuffs by the window turned around with eyes like chips of ice. It was Augustus Riddle, Arthur’s cruel younger brother, and I had just spent the night whispering confessions of love into the wrong man's ear. The night I thought was a beautiful beginning turned into a devastating nightmare. Instead of comfort, Gus treated me like a stain on his expensive carpet, scribbling a check for "services rendered" before shoving me into a dark service corridor to hide my existence from his brother. "How much does it cost to buy your silence?" He sneered, before leaving me barefoot in a torrential downpour while he drove away in a luxury Cadillac. Four years later, I am a struggling actress in Los Angeles, working double shifts as a barista just to keep the lights on. My life was finally stable until my roommate dragged me to a high-end dinner to meet her new "influential" boyfriend. The man sitting at the table, looking more arrogant and lethal than ever, was Augustus. He spent the entire night humiliating me, calling me a pathetic amateur and a social climber in front of my only friends. When I fled into the rain and collapsed on the sidewalk, skinning my knee until I bled, he watched from his car. He saw me clutching a plastic baggie containing the taped-together pieces of that four-year-old check—the only proof of my shame. He looked at me like roadkill, rolled up his window, and drove off into the dark. I couldn't understand why he was doing this. Why did he hate me enough to crush me, yet remember that I couldn't handle the smell of cigarette smoke? Why did he leave me bleeding in the street, only to send expensive medical supplies and coffee to my door the very next morning? "I'm moving out." I told my roommates, realizing that Gus Riddle didn't just want to destroy me; he wanted to haunt me. I grabbed my suitcase and walked out with eighty dollars to my name, finally ready to disappear into the city before he could burn the rest of my life to the ground.

I had just survived a private jet crash, my body a map of violet bruises and my lungs still burning from the smoke. I woke up in a sterile hospital room, gasping for my husband's name, only to realize I was completely alone. While I was bleeding in a ditch, my husband, Adam, was on the news smiling at a ribbon-cutting ceremony. When I tracked him down at the hospital's VIP wing, I didn't find a grieving husband. I found him tenderly cradling his ex-girlfriend, Casie, in his arms, his face lit with a protective warmth he had never shown me as he carried her into the maternity ward. The betrayal went deeper than I could have imagined. Adam admitted the affair started on our third anniversary-the night he claimed he was stuck in London for a merger. Back at the manor, his mother had already filled our planned nursery with pink boutique bags for Casie's "little princess." When I demanded a divorce, Adam didn't flinch. He sneered that I was "gutter trash" from a foster home and that I'd be begging on the streets within a week. To trap me, he froze my bank accounts, cancelled my flight, and even called the police to report me for "theft" of company property. I realized then that I wasn't his partner; I was a charity case he had plucked from obscurity to manage his life. To the Hortons, I was just a servant who happened to sleep in the master bedroom, a "resilient" woman meant to endure his abuse in silence while the whole world laughed at the joke that was my marriage. Adam thought stripping me of his money would make me crawl back to him. He was wrong. I walked into his executive suite during his biggest deal of the year and poured a mug of sludge over his original ten-million-dollar contracts. Then, right in front of his board and his mistress, I stripped off every designer thread he had ever paid for until I was standing in nothing but my own silk camisole. "You can keep the clothes, Adam. They're as hollow as you are." I grabbed my passport, turned my back on his billions, and walked out of that glass tower barefoot, bleeding, and finally free.
