Lust Rules: Love Born In Desire Chapter 1 Fall Into A Trap

As the night fell, the nightclub was filled with obscenity. Men and women on the dance floor swayed their bodies crazily.

Frowning, Carla Jian hung up the phone and took the first step with hesitation. However, the moment she stepped into the nightclub, a very depressing feeling enveloped her heart. It was her first time to come to such a place.

Why did Emma Gu ask her to come here?

Though confused, Carla Jian still came here. The greedy eyes littering the bar made her feel uncomfortable. She walked quickly to the box where Emma Gu supposedly was.

After finding that place was, Carla Jian breathed a sigh of relief. There was Emma Gu. If her father knew she was here, he would lock her up at home again. She would have to avoid the media. Emma Gu knew she couldn't show up in a noisy place like this. 'Why did she want to meet me here?' Carla Jian thought.

"Oh my god, Carla! You are finally here!" Emma Gu's misty eyes lit up as she saw the woman in front of her. Drunken giggles escaped her lips as she continued to drink alcohol from her glass. Carla Jian frowned as she walked in and closed the door behind her.

"Emma, why did you ask me to come here at this hour? Do you know how late it is!" The smell in the room was starting to suffocate her. Unfortunately for her, Emma Gu seemed drunk enough that she failed to hear what she just said.

"Carla, I broke up with my boyfriend. You know what? That man was just playing with me." Emma Gu's face was covered with tears. Seeing it made Carla Jian's heart ache. Emma Gu was a simple-minded girl. She trusted her ex-boyfriend a lot and that was why she was deeply hurt.

"Drink with me. We won't stop until we get drunk!" Emma Gu didn't care about how Carla Jian felt. She just put the glass in Carla Jian's hand and forced her to drink the alcohol that was inside of it. Carla Jian was about to stop her, but it was already too late. The wine was already in her mouth.

As she was unprepared, Carla Jian was choked on the liquid. Her fair face turned red and she began to gasp for air.

"Ha-ha..." Emma Gu laughed lamely. She kept putting the glass into Carla Jian's mouth to force her drink. Usually, she was weak, but this time, it seemed like Carla Jian couldn't handle her.

"Emma, what are you doing?" Seeing that she could not do anything to control Emma Gu, Carla Jian just gazed upon her from a safe distance. Confusion was starting to cloud her mind. Something was definitely wrong with Emma Gu today! How could a quiet and gentle woman act in such a crass, uncaring way?

Soon, Carla Jian's problem was solved. Emma fell on the floor unconscious, probably due to alcohol. Carla Jian took this opportunity to rest. Any more alcohol in her system would alert the media for a "scandal" about her.

Though she felt helpless, she knew she couldn't leave Emma Gu alone. She decided to take her home. After all, if something happened to Emma Gu after she left, she would blame herself.

Carla Jian wrapped her scarf around her face in order to cover it. With great difficulty, she squatted down and helped Emma Gu up. Fortunately, in such a place, no one would really pay attention to them. Because of that, they could fly under the radar.

After a few minutes, they were out of the nightclub. Carla Jian hailed a taxi, and after a minute of hesitation, she decided that it would be the best for them if they headed for a hotel. If she went back home at that time, she would probably be endlessly questioned by her father.

It was just one night. It shouldn't be a big deal. That was what Carla Jian thought to comfort herself.

Little did she know that because of this seemingly harmless decision, her life would drastically change.

With the help of the hotel staff, Carla Jian was able to finally put Emma Gu on the bed. Weirdly, she was sweating profusely and she felt an indescribable heat in her chest.

After thanking the staff and locking the door, she rushed to the bathroom and unscrewed the shower head. Warm water drenched her body completely. The heat she was feeling did not recede, though. It only swirled around inside of her.

"I feel so bad..." she muttered as she felt pained by the sensation. After showering, she put on a bathrobe and rang the service doorbell.

"Hello, this is the reception desk. What can I do for you?" A sweet voice came from the other end of the phone. Carla Jian was continuously feeling the heat swirling in her chest, drying in her mouth and tongue. She hemmed and hawed, not knowing what to say.

"Hello?" The person who answered the phone seemed to be confused. About a minute later, the call cut as she wasn't saying anything. She did this for three more times, but every time, she couldn't talk. The receptionist stopped answering her calls, thinking it was a trick.

Soon, Carla Jian felt her whole body burning, and her skin was as red as blood. Licking her dry lips, she stumbled out of the door, intending to find a thermometer to measure her body temperature.

But how could she know that it was not because she was sick at all? It was a simple fact that she was drugged.

After Carla Jian went out, Emma Gu, who was lying unconscious on the bed, suddenly opened her eyes. She took out her mobile phone and dialed a number.

"How's it going?" The voice from the other side sounded anxious.

"Do we have to do this?" Emma Gu sounded somewhat hesitant and uneasy, which made the other party a little impatient.

"Don't hesitate. When everything is done, you can leave." After saying this, the person from the other side hung up. Emma Gu bit her lower lip, got out of bed slowly, picked up her bag and went out.

How could Carla Jian know that she had been set up from the very beginning? She even went back to her room with a thermometer in her hand. But the original room was locked. She tilted her head in confusion as she made sure that she wouldn't lock herself out.

She turned her body slightly and found that the door to the neighboring room was open. Her lips formed a silly smile and she staggered into that room. The drug was reaching its full effect at that moment, so her face was extremely red.

Slowly, she closed the door behind her. At that point, she had already forgotten about taking her temperature. She went to bed, but even if she wanted to sleep, she found that her body was getting more and more uncomfortable.

I found him, strapped down, and I screamed for her to take me instead. But Ethan, blind with rage and manipulated by Sabrina' s lies, saw my reaction as defiance. He threatened Andrew, trying to extract a "confession" from me. My truth would kill him; my silence guaranteed my brother's fate. He offered me everything I' d ever wanted – a future, marriage – if I just confessed. I couldn't. My five-year-old daughter was dying in the ICU, her heartbeat replaced by the continuous, electronic scream of a flatline. I gripped her cold hand, my throat sealed shut by a terror so absolute I couldn't even cry out. I dialed my husband Grayson's private number, the one reserved only for me and his assistants. He declined the call instantly. A second later, a text buzzed against my palm: "In a meeting. Do not disturb. Stop calling." Five miles away, Grayson was at a luxury gala, adjusting his silk tie and laughing with Belle Escobar. He told her I was just being "dramatic" and using our daughter's "fever" as an excuse to avoid the event. He had no idea Effie's heart had already stopped. When I finally reached our penthouse, soaked from the rain and carrying Effie's small socks in a plastic bag, Grayson didn't even look at me. He snapped at me for ruining the hardwood floors and asked if I'd left Effie with the nanny just to "feel sorry for myself." Three days later, while I buried our daughter in a small, lonely ceremony, Grayson was at the Hamptons. Belle posted a photo of him golfing with the caption: "A mental health day with the boys." He didn't even attend the funeral, but he returned home demanding I clear out Effie's room to make a study for Belle's son. The injustice burned through me until there was nothing left. I swallowed a handful of sleeping pills, desperate to join my daughter. But instead of the darkness, I woke up to blinding lights and the scent of Grayson's expensive cologne. I was standing in a ballroom, wearing a blue silk dress I had already burned. Above me, a banner read: "Happy 5th Birthday Kaiden & Effie." I was back, exactly one year before the tragedy. This time, I wasn't going to be the grieving wife. I was going to be their worst nightmare.

I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.

I stood in the darkest corner of the Pierre Hotel’s ballroom, my cheap polyester dress itching against my skin while my wristband buzzed with a DARPA Priority Red alert. In front of the city’s elite, my fiancé Bryce Calloway took the stage, not to toast our future, but to publicly end our engagement and announce he was with my sister, Chloe. The room turned on me instantly, a hundred pairs of eyes pinning me down with pity and disgust as they physically backed away like I was contagious. When I returned home, my mother shattered a crystal vase at my feet, screaming that I was a humiliation and a "dropout" who didn't deserve a cent of the family fortune. Chloe and Bryce mocked me, laughing when I told them I had a mission with the National Security Agency, convinced I was either a pathological liar or a low-level criminal. They watched in horror as a black, unmarked military helicopter descended on our backyard to extract me, yet they still chose to believe I was being arrested for drug trafficking. They saw a pathetic girl who couldn't even parallel park, never realizing I was Dr. Nova Vance, the lead physicist behind the world's first successful fusion reactor. To secure funding for my research and gain a "fortress" of a name, I signed a thirty-day marriage contract with the arrogant billionaire Roman Knight. He treats me like a fraud, convinced I’m a gold-digger who failed out of college, while I quietly run global energy simulations from his guest bedroom. He has no idea that the "loser" he’s forced to live with is the same anonymous grandmaster who has been ruthlessly crushing him in online strategy games for months. "The contract is active," I told him, looking past his expensive suit. "But don't expect me to be your maid."
