Chapter 1 Results!!!!!
It's 10 o clock in the morning and am still as anxious as ever about my end of year highschool results. The feeling of completing school was very exciting for me because I finally left all the bad vibes behind. You see, I was a poor girl and my daily hobby was thinking about my life and how to move it forward.I couldn't afford to fail because if I did mom wouldn't have the money to pay for my redo course.We were so poor that mom couldn't afford to give me transport fare money sometimes. I had to walk 5km to school and back on certain days.
You see, I was very intelligent and the school offered me a scholarship which included the benefits of me getting a free uniform, free books every term and free lunch everyday, that was a breather for mom and I. My anxiety kept building up and mom wasnt helping,all she did was make it a whole lot worse.I was so deep in thought only for me to hear a voice screaming my name April! April!i was immediately struck back to reality, it was moms voice.
Mom: April! April!
April :Yes mom am coming
Mom:What time are you going to school? You realise your results are out.
April : I will go abit later.
She gave me a vicious look and I knew I had no choice but to agree and so I did.
April :Mom am off to school now! see you in the evening. I gave her peck and left.
I arrived at school feeling so tired and dehydrated.Without wasting time;I drank the water I carried in my bag, cleaned my feet with a wet cloth and washed my face. I felt so refreshed. Just as I was about to stand up, there she was, I was looking at the class snake, Selina.She was so pretty, had big bums and boob's, very long hair.Selina had a body to die for. She was the perfect definition of a goddess .
Selina : Hey April good to see your dumb face,I can't believe you are still annoying even after completing school. Just look at you, What are you wearing? You look so disgusting she said to me as if she were about to puke.
April: Am not in the mood for your tasteless insults. Looking uninterested.
Selina : Ugly things like you don't deserve to be in the same environment with people like me, you deserve to be working in some place as a maid.No offense you already look like one darling. She gave me a sinical smile.
I was so angry I immediately stood up.
Selina : What do you think you are doing? Come back here cheap maid!
April : Am so not in the mood for your tasteless insults and pointless comments alright! I atleast work hard for what I have unlike you a cheap whore who sleeps around with every guy just to get attention. Excuse me!
That felt good I said to myself. It felt amazing to shut her up. I left her standing there embarrassed but she had to much pride she would never show it.
I then proceeded to the principals office.
April :(knocking on the door) May I come in?
Head mistress: Ngena(enter).
April : Good afternoon madam, I was told to collect my results from here,i didn't see them on the notification board. Did I fail?
I said with a worried face.
Headmistress : On the contrary you were the highest, you passed with honours and Mulungushi University has offered you a 100 % scholarship. Congratulations!It was so unbelievable.I couldn't handle the pressure,everything was happening so fast. My face turned pale.
Head mistress : Are you OK?
April : Yes am fine just trying to process everything.
Headmistress : she gave me a worrisome look and said,"Don't worry you are going to be ok".
April: Thank you.
Mrs Courtney knew my situation,things were going to get hard. I thought she would give me a butt load of advice but instead she only uttered three words "Good luck April",she walked out leaving me stunned.
It was getting late, I stood up and proceeded home.
April: I arrived and found mom cooking dinner Bwanji Mama?(how are you?)
Mom : Bwino Bwanji? (Fine and you)
April : Bwino.(Fine)
Mom : you must be tired take your bath and eat.
April :i did exactly that and proceeded to bed.
I was so worried but I put everything in God's hands and slept peacefully.
