Love Is Not Blind Chapter 1 Just do me a favor

Cameron was having the time of his life. Three beautiful goddess-like women surround him - a blonde, a brunette, and a redhead. Everyone is competing to get his attention on the dance floor. He couldn't bear to make these pretty women's hearts. Only one of them could be with him tonight.

"So who's the fairest of them all?" asked Reyli, the Latin singer who was a friend of his cousin Shei. Cameron was invited to Reyli's yacht party full of famous people from the entertainment industry. But there were also businessmen like him who were there to relax and enjoy the company of beautiful women. That's the perfect thing to do with Reyli's mega-yacht sailing the Caribbean Sea.

"I haven't decided yet. They are all goddesses."

All types of women were attracted to him. Of course, he was Cameron Duarte of Duarte International Bank. At the age of thirty-two, he was able to grow the bank built by his grandfather. Despite the economic crisis in many countries, he was not sold by other banks. He was able to invest in the right businesses and countries, which is why he grew even more successful. He was almost at the top of the world.

Reyli tapped Cameron's shoulder. "By the way, Shei called from Oslo. She wants you to call her hotel room." Reyli pointed to a door. "There's a phone in that stateroom."

Cameron headed to the elegant cabin. There was no signal in that part of the ocean so they could only use satellite phones. Her cousin was in Oslo, Norway for a conference so she couldn't go to the party.

"Hey, cuz! I heard the girls just couldn't get enough of you over there," his cousin greeted him

"What else is new? That's always been how women reacted to me. Don't tell me you will report me to my mom?" His mother wants him to find a sensible woman to marry. But he was still enjoying his life. So many girls, so little time. Marriage was still far from his mind.

"No. Remember I want to ask you a little favor?

Cameron's forehead furrowed. "Am I not already here at the party? As your representative?" That was probably the best favor his cousin had ever asked him.

"No. I want you to check on Mitos."

"Mitos?

"Yes. Reyli's staff. The cute one."

His cousin just couldn't stop talking about Mitos whenever she came from his friend's yacht. His ears felt like bleeding with his cousin's constant blabbering. Shei said Mitos was handsome, sympathetic, and kind. Even foreigners are attracted to that man because of his exotic beauty thanks to his Filipino blood.

Their handsomeness was almost just at the same level, he would admit. But Cameron didn't Mitos befriending his cousin Shei. Mitos had this arrogant vibe and that looked as if he never took any woman seriously in his life. And Mitos might seduce his cousin. He would immediately object because it will only hurt Shei. Cameron was a man too, he knew how men like him when it comes to women. He was a master player himself after all.

"What do you want me to do with him?"

"Just see if there's a woman hanging around him."

"And...?" Cameron knew his cousin would ask for another favor. She was not just gonna ask to look for that Mitos guy.

"Attract any woman who approaches him."

"What?" He almost dropped the phone. "Are you crazy? Why would I do that?"

Not that he could not snatch a woman from another man. He could do that effortlessly. But why would he do that for Shei?

"I just want to protect Mitos. I don't like women hanging around with him."

His forehead furrowed. "Shei, are you in love with him?"

"No! We are just friends!" she answered immediately. "I'm just really concerned about him."

"He was already old enough to know what to do."

"Cameron, please! Just do me a favor. Do you remember that time you stood up to the woman your mom set you up with on a date? I made a way for Auntie not to scold you," Shei reminded him. "I even lied for you."

"Alright! I'll see what I can do." But he has no plans on interfering in the life of that Mitos guy.

He was about to leave the stateroom when he accidentally kicked something scattered on the floor. Looked like a man's wallet. He picked up the wallet and opened it. He saw a picture of a beautiful girl in it. He thought she was probably less than eighteen years old. Her hair was long and curly. She has a beautiful smile and a pointed nose. She looked like a doll with her large, round eyes adorned with long eyelashes.

He just gasped as he stared at the picture. She looked so innocent, very different from the women he met. This was the type of woman that any man would want to protect. Who was this?

The stateroom door opened and Mitos entered. "Excuse me, Sir Cameron. That's my wallet."

"Yours?" he asked and looked at the picture of the woman.

"Yes, Sir. I left it when Miss Shei called earlier."

Cameron pulled out one of the IDs from the wallet and it was indeed Mitos' wallet. He handed it back to him. "Here."

Mitos' smile reached his ears when he retrieved his wallet and even stroked the picture that was there. "Thank you, Sir."

Cameron nodded. Then he remembered Shei's order. That he would watch if there was a woman hanging around this guy. That woman in his wallet looked very special to him.

Who was the girl in the picture? What is their relationship with each other?

Cameron was hesitant to ask Mitos and as the latter walked out of the room, they heard a loud explosion. The yacht shook.

"What was that?" Cameron asked.

"It's coming from the pantry," Mitos answered and ran immediately in the direction of the kitchen. But a great fire met them. And it quickly spread out on the yacht.

I stood at my mother’s open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest’s voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone—he brought Charla with him. He claimed she’d had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband's Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn't find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn't even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father's legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn's party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara's health and managing every detail of Caden's empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I'd drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause-if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I'd forgotten.

For two years, I was the invisible force behind tech billionaire Kieran Douglas, convinced that our "private" romance was his way of protecting us from the tabloid spotlight. I managed his mergers, warmed his bed, and waited for a future that didn't exist. The illusion shattered at 6:00 AM when a Page Six alert debuted Kieran’s "real" romance with socialite Aspen Schneider. Before I could even process the betrayal, Kieran sent me a cold, professional text: "Order flowers for Aspen. Pink peonies. Her favorite." When I tried to walk away, my own mother called me a disgrace and threatened to lock my inheritance forever unless I married a sixty-year-old businessman to save her failing estate. At a high-society gala that same night, Aspen intentionally crushed my burned hand in front of the cameras, while Kieran stood by and dismissed me as a "mediocre assistant" who had overstayed her welcome. I stood in the cold New York rain, drenched in champagne and humiliation, realizing that every sacrifice I made for Kieran was a joke. I was a ghost in a penthouse that was never mine, discarded the moment his "soulmate" returned. To the world, I was just a placeholder whose time had run out. But Kieran forgot one thing: my father’s multi-million dollar trust fund unlocks the moment I legally marry. I didn't need love; I needed a signature and a shield. I walked into a discreet law firm and signed a marriage contract with a man I believed was the city’s most notorious, scandal-ridden playboy. I thought I was marrying a degenerate "beard" to buy my freedom and secure my revenge. I didn't realize the man who signed that paper wasn't a playboy at all, but Gaston Collins—the most powerful and dangerous man on Wall Street—and he had no intention of letting our fake marriage stay fake.
