My rejected mate Chapter 1 His mate

It all started during my high school graduation party, Jason drove to my house to pick me up.

He'd wanted it to be just like a date.

I was so happy and lost in my lovey-dovey little world.

Jason picked me up from my house around 6 pm, He pulled up to my house in his Lamborghini, he'd love that car with his whole life, not even a scratch on it.

Jason and I had been in love since elementary school. Tho he's proud and also harsh, jumping into a conclusion without asking for an explanation, he'd always stood up for me, leaving his dirty characters, he's just my type of man.

My mom was never in support of our relationship, she'd always nag about him, but being the type of person I am, I always have deaf ears to her sermon of me dating someone who is not my mate.

Whilst in high school, I'm being told by many of my classmates to end my relationship with him, so as not to be heartbroken when he finds his mate. But I've always loved seeing myself as his mate that I'd fight with whosoever comes between us, and my elder brother Alex wasn't an exception, they all know how crazy I can be when it comes to Jason.

After taking my bath, I wore the red gown Jason bought for me, I'd say it was one of the best gifts given to me by him, and I adore it so much.

After the final touch of makeup, I took at myself in the mirror and was awed by what I saw, I never believed I could be this beautiful with my blue eyes and silver hair.

I've always been insulted by lots of people cause of my hair, while some told me my hair was like that of an old woman, dad usually tells me how rare my hair is, and of course, I believed it cause no one has such hair in this pack.

I took a slow step down the stairs and there Jason was, sitting on the couch, having a conversation with my dad.

Tho dad was also not in support of our relationship,he always stood by me and that's why I have this connection with him more than my mom who would nag at me on the slightest opportunity.

When he noticed my presence, he stood up placing one of his hand in the air for me to hold on to without taking his eyes off me.

"You look ravishing"he complimented.

I couldn't stop myself from blushing, and I know my face would be red from the too much blushing.

" You don't look bad as well".

"If you guys should continue standing there and starting at yourself, you'd be late for the party" dad shouted.

One could hear the sarcasm in his voice, I know that's how he's always been, making everything look funny.

"Let's go" Jason urged.

"Y..yes"i stuttered without any reason, or maybe because it's my first time going out with a boy.

We got to where his car was parked. He opened and held the car for me to get in.

He always know how to please a woman and this has been one of the reasons I fell in love with him.

But one thing I don't like about him is his urge for s*x, he's tried forcing me to bed on many occasions which I bluntly refused.

The drive to the party was a very quiet one as we both were lost in our thought. Tho his eyes was on the road, I could tell there's a lot going on in his mind.

We got to the party at exactly 7:30 pm.

The loud music was blaring everywhere, one could perceive the smell of sweat and alcohol, people were dancing and screaming crazily making me wonder if this is actually a school graduation party.

The faces weren't entirely of the people in my school, I could see different girls dancing half naked in the stage and there are not from my school.

Where is this place?

I could see a pair of eyes on me, I don't need a soothsayer to tell me that is Samantha the class bitch, who had probably done everything to get on Jason's bed but failed woefully.

Jason can be a proud guy, but one thing I know for sure is that he ain't a womanizer.

We got a place and sat down, while the bartender brought us drinks, one thing you need to know about me is that I ain't a fan of alcohol, Jason takes alcohol but not to stupor.

While everyone was busy with their drinks and chat, I was lost in my own thought.

"What if Jason ain't really my mate? What if he finds his mate? But why hasn't he found her yet? Does that mean he's my mate?"

I was still in thought when Jason excused himself and went towards the restroom, without saying anything, but I saw him sniffing around.

I guess I would have to wait for him to come back cause I wanna leave this God forsaken place.

An hour has passed and I'm still waiting for Jason.

I think I would go look for him.

I stood up and quickly left the others to look for Jason.

After the fruitless search, "Why don't we check the rooms" my subconscious mind popped at me, well that ain't a bad idea, he might be resting in one of those rooms.

I opened the first door, my eyes almost bulged out from what I saw, I muttered "sorry" and quickly closed the door.

You really don't wanna know what I saw, do you?.

I proceed to the next room, I opened the door and was met with an empty room.

I proceeded to the third room, but it was still empty.

I was so tired cause the passage was a very long one so the rooms were far from each other. But I have to look for Jason, I need to go home.

I got to the fourth door and pushed it open, I was welcomed with the shock of my life, Jason on the bed with another girl? Maybe my eyes are deceiving me.

"J..a..Jason? I stuttered, he turned back to look at me, but he didn't stop, he continued doing his business with the girl on the bed.

I ran to the restroom, I could feel myself breaking down and Xina, my wolf is not an exception.

I could feel her howling painfully inside my head.

My heart is falling apart, I just needed a place to cry out my pain, and the restroom happens to be the place I could cry without anyone distracting me.

After crying for almost two hours, I allowed Xina to take over, she was never in support of I and Jason's relationship in the first place.

After changing to my wolf form, I hopped out through the window, into the woods.

After running into the woods I let Xina take over completely, cause if I had allowed her to take over completely while in the club, she's tear Jason to pieces.

I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.

For two years, I was the invisible force behind tech billionaire Kieran Douglas, convinced that our "private" romance was his way of protecting us from the tabloid spotlight. I managed his mergers, warmed his bed, and waited for a future that didn't exist. The illusion shattered at 6:00 AM when a Page Six alert debuted Kieran’s "real" romance with socialite Aspen Schneider. Before I could even process the betrayal, Kieran sent me a cold, professional text: "Order flowers for Aspen. Pink peonies. Her favorite." When I tried to walk away, my own mother called me a disgrace and threatened to lock my inheritance forever unless I married a sixty-year-old businessman to save her failing estate. At a high-society gala that same night, Aspen intentionally crushed my burned hand in front of the cameras, while Kieran stood by and dismissed me as a "mediocre assistant" who had overstayed her welcome. I stood in the cold New York rain, drenched in champagne and humiliation, realizing that every sacrifice I made for Kieran was a joke. I was a ghost in a penthouse that was never mine, discarded the moment his "soulmate" returned. To the world, I was just a placeholder whose time had run out. But Kieran forgot one thing: my father’s multi-million dollar trust fund unlocks the moment I legally marry. I didn't need love; I needed a signature and a shield. I walked into a discreet law firm and signed a marriage contract with a man I believed was the city’s most notorious, scandal-ridden playboy. I thought I was marrying a degenerate "beard" to buy my freedom and secure my revenge. I didn't realize the man who signed that paper wasn't a playboy at all, but Gaston Collins—the most powerful and dangerous man on Wall Street—and he had no intention of letting our fake marriage stay fake.

The heavy thud of the release stamp was the only goodbye I got from the warden after five years in federal prison. I stepped out into the blinding sun, expecting the same flash of paparazzi bulbs that had seen me dragged away in handcuffs, but there was only a single black limousine idling on the shoulder of the road. Inside sat my mother and sister, clutching champagne and looking at my frayed coat with pure disgust. They didn't offer a welcome home; instead, they tossed a thick legal document onto the table and told me I was dead to the city. "Gavin and I are getting engaged," my sister Mia sneered, flicking a credit card at me like I was a stray dog. "He doesn't need a convict ex-fiancée hanging around." Even after I saved their lives from an armed kidnapping attempt by ramming the attackers off the road, they rewarded me by leaving me stranded in the dirt. When I finally ran into Gavin, the man who had framed me, he pinned me against a wall and threatened to send me back to a cell if I ever dared to show my face at their wedding. They had stolen my biotech research, ruined my name, and let me rot for half a decade while they lived off my brilliance. They thought they had broken me, leaving me with nothing but an expired chapstick and a few old photos in a plastic bag. What they didn't know was that I had spent those five years becoming "Dr. X," a shadow consultant with five hundred million dollars in crypto and a secret that would bring the city to its knees. I wasn't just a victim anymore; I was a weapon, and I was pregnant with the heir they thought they had erased. I walked into the Melton estate and made an offer to the most powerful man in New York. "I'll save your grandfather's life," I told Horatio Melton, staring him down. "But the price is your last name. I'm taking back what's mine, and I'm starting with the man who thinks he's marrying my sister."
