Chapter 1 01 Unexpected Encounter

Author's POV

Naomi never believed in coincidences. What she believes is everything has been designed and arranged by the Almighty to meet each other or stay away from each other. Time goes on and the wheel of life keeps turning. Nothing can reverse a time because the Almighty alone is in control of life.

And now she was confronted by a dashing man who was sitting in front of his door. He seemed to be gasping for breath with such a fast breath. The petite girl drew closer to the sharp-eyed man's figure and looked at him from above and below, an appearance that brought her back to her high school days.

He had not yet raised his head, but Naomi already knew who the man was. Seeing a pair of feet that were walking towards him, he lifted his head and was surprised when he saw the little girl was looking at him flatly and coldly,

That man was Alexander Louis, a good-looking man in Naomi's high school as well as a man who once held the highest position in Naomi's heart. The familiar look still carried when their brown eyes met. It felt exactly like this is the first time the two met together after few years apart. No one expected that man would suddenly enter that girl's house with a gasping breath as if someone was chasing him.

She stared at him coldly as if he had just been splashed with cold water, so cold and untouchable... that man barely knew her for a while.

"Nao-mi?" called that man, opening the conversation between the two for the first time in a long time the two of them had not seen each other,

"What are you doing here?" asked her coldly. There isn't any warmness within her eyes, she just stared at him as cold as her heart.

"I don't know this is your house."

"He doesn't know?" inner her wondering.

"Get out from my house," she ordered as he shook his head.

"Not for now, Naomi. I'm afraid they're still around here," he said as he peeked behind the door. Naomi furrowed her brow, what did he mean and what exactly was going on?

"I said get out," as she point the door,

That man shook his head, "Please, please... I'm begging you,"

That girl could not completely reject him because she still had a sense of worry about what was happening with that man. She hid her worries and she closed it tightly with the intention of wanting to forget him who had hurt her in the past,

"Where the hell is him right now?" wondering some men out there,

Alex gasped as soon as he heard the baritone voice that sounded very close to him. That girl could see that Alex looked panicked. And that man's panic was even more apparent when someone knocked on Naomi's door with a baritone voice saying 'excuse me' to the owner of the house, Naomi.

Intrigued by what was happening, she stepped up and grabbed the doorknob, intending to open the door for the baritone voice. Alex grabbed her leg and shook his head quickly, but Naomi deliberately stomped her foot until Alex almost fell down. Naomi actually opened the door for that baritone voice and Alex was gave up to beg her pity. As soon as she opened the door, she found two well-dressed sissies waiting for her to speak,

"Excuse me, have you seen a man in the black suit?" asked one of the sissies politely,

"Black suit? They are looking for Alex?"

She nodded, "I saw him running there," she said, pointing to a hallway across from her house. The two sissies nodded in understanding and thanked to her.

After the two sissies left, Naomi went back into her house, finding him sitting by the door. Their eyes met, but unlike Alex, she didn't seem to want a thank you from him.

"Thank you, Naomi. You saved me."

Naomi saw Alex's sloppy look. It looks like the sissies are after him because this man is very handsome, no wonder the sissies are chasing him as if he is easy prey for those sissies,

"I just found out now that you're playing with a sissy," she teased with her petty smile,

"Who said I played with sissies. I'm still normal, you know! They just suddenly chased me. Maybe it's because I'm too handsome that they're targeting me," he said, making her look at him with ridicule.

"Are you proud of that? Wow, impressive," she said despicably. Alex then stood up, he was about to approach her. But she didn't seem to want it, as seen from her backing away from him. Realizing her response, that brown-eyed man stopped walking and chose to stay where he stood.

"Get out before they come back," she said, trying to turn away from him. However, before she could take a step, Alex held her hand, as if asking her to be with him for a while.

"You don't intend to say anything after our encounter?" he said earnestly. All of this was his fault which made her even colder with him. If only he quickly realized his feelings, he would definitely continue to be with this girl until this very second.

Love that starts from betting is not taboo for some people and groups. At that time, Alex only played the role of a man who seemed to love Naomi so much that in the end, she was touched by all his tricks until the two of them slept together.

Of course, Alex won the bet and he made a lot of money afterward. Alex purposely made her love him very much before he dumped her as if she were a broken toy. Not only that, she also became the subject of the male friends' wild fantasies because of some indecent photos that the guy shared with his friends.

She knew it all when she was about to find him to go home with her. And inadvertently, that long black-haired girl heard everything that he was sleazy behavior with his friends. In that instant, her feelings for him cooled. With the shame already broken, she came up to them and tore up all the photos and then threw all the indecent photos at Alex.

It was an unforgettable day for her. That day also changed her who increasingly distrusted any man.

"Naomi..." Alex called softly. Until now he regretted what he had behaved and once she left him, that's when he slowly began to realize his true feelings. But the rice had turned into porridge, she transferred schools and no longer saw him anymore.

"Go," she said reluctantly turning to Alex.

"I'm sorry, Naomi..." he whispered very deeply. She tried not to shake herself up at what he said. To her, whatever he said, it was all a lie, just like what he had done to her before.

Everything is fake.

"I don't want to hear anything from you," she said before he stepped up to stop her from walking. He wanted her to see how sorry he was for what he had done to her. He held both of her hands, but she stomped her hands as if his hands were a pestilence that would infect her,

"Forgive me,"

"I have forgiven you," she said. Hearing what she said, the look on his face showed relief as if the burden on his shoulders had been lifted. But even so, her expression didn't show any warmth.

"So, please go away from me," she said, passing him who was still standing in front of her.

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband’s Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn’t find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn’t even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father’s legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn’s party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara’s health and managing every detail of Caden’s empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I’d drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause—if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I’d forgotten.
