Not His Type Chapter 1 The Club

I take a sip from the glass of whiskey in my hand, looking down at the crowd.

My elbows resting on the railing as my gaze travels to the sweaty bodies grinding against each other.

Some making out in corners, others dancing without any care of the world.

Bored ,I was not fond of this environment.

But again,this was business.

And my business is my everything.

I was going to turn around to go inside my office, when my grey eyes took notice of something or rather someone

Through the clods of smoke I saw a figure clothed like it was -50 ° inside.

A full sleeve loose shirt,an old knitted sweater ,Khaki pants and what was that?

Sneakers?

Interested ,I places the glass down to stare a little longer.

The person was struggling to make way in the sweaty bodies.

Her hands tapping their shoulders, asking to be excused.

For a second I would have thought the person to be a short timid man,if it wasn't for her bosom.

Not full but still prominent enough to show her gender.

I couldn't see her face clearly. A black cap shielding her eyes from me, tucking her hair inside along with. I could only see her thin lips opening to say sorry again and again.

Taking another sip, I wonder how she got in,the manual clearly says for a dress code for entrance.

The manual I myself have set.

Sneakers and oversize shirts no way a part of them.

My eyes follow her through the crowd, till she stops in front of the private rooms.

Opening it slowly she enters.

This is going to be fun. I thought and I was proved right.

Few minutes later she emerges out, sweating and bothered.

Her hands adjusting her cap, fingers running on her lips and head lowered in embarrassment.

A smile comes on my lips as stares at her longer.

I wanted to scold my men for being so irresponsible.

But scolding and embarrassing this scared sheep further, didn't settle well with me.

Turning around ,I proceeds towards my office.

I still have a lot to do for today, determined to not get distracted again.

Excusing her this time, or rather the last time.

.........................................

I was going through the member register, dissapointed in the irregularity of its maintenance.

The sales figures look fine, but the replenishment of the stock seem suspicious.

Someone was definitely stealing.

Sighing ,I was determined to catch them.

It may sound small, considering how much money I own.

But business is business. And every peny counts in it.

More important is trust and if someone is stealing, they are breaching my trust.

A I never hire people I can't trust.

My thoughts were interrupted when one of the guards appeared at my door.

Bowing in acknowledgement.

"I am sorry for bothering you Mr Kingston. But the security caught a man stealing and he refuses to co-operate."

I look up, straightening my back and giving him my full attention.

My face cold and emotionless as usual.

"Send him in"

He nods and leaves to only return the very next minute.

I hold back my laugh at the person they were referring to as a thief.

Looking at the same black cap girl in front of me.

Her face was still lowered, hands behind her back and weight shifting from one leg to another.

I ask with a raised eyebrow.

"This boy?"

They nod and I again chuckle in my mind. Have I hired a bunch of blind men or what.

Can't they see she is a girl.

But then if I look at her generally, she can pass as a man.

A very fragile thin and undernutritioned young man.

"He is refusing to co-operate. We wanted to check him to see if he has stolen it,but he doesn't let us touch him."

I place one leg over the other. Enjoying this show for a change.

Checking they say, ofcourse she will not let random men touch her at inappropriate places.

I continue to examine her for next few seconds and then nod at my men.

"All of you can leave. I will handle this myself."

They bow their heads and leave. Closing the door behind.

Turning my attention back to the girl ,I see her rubbing her hands in anxiousness.

She has beautiful hands,I must say. With those long slender fingers and unpainted nails, they looked natural and elegant.

Her silence has a reason,I know well.

But I wanted to test her,to play with her and tease her a bit.

"So boy ,what did you steal?"

I ask and she gulps to lower her head further.

Hiding even her lips behind the shade of her cap.

She doesn't reply as expected and I step closer to her.

Sensing me approaching ,she herself steps back from me.

Making me smirk.

"Nothing...I..stole nothing"

She says in a crooked voice, trying to add that fake heaviness in her voice and I move my head in disbelief.

Does she consider me to a fool.

Continuing with the act,I step closer.

"Really? Then why don't you prove it ?"

I say almost cornering her.

Her back hits the wall and her hands clench to fists in front of her.

My next words made a gasp to leave her lips ,as her frame shudders in fear.

"Strip"

The heavy iron gates of the Wilderness Correction Camp groaned as they released me after three years of state-sponsored hell. I stood on the dirt road, clutching a plastic bag that held my entire life, waiting for the family that claimed they sent me there for "rehab." My brother, Brady, picked me up in a luxury SUV only to throw me out onto a deserted highway in the middle of a brewing storm. He told me I was a "public relations nightmare" and that the rain might finally wash the "stink" of the camp off me. He drove away, leaving me to limp miles through the mud on a snapped ankle. When I finally dragged myself to our family estate, my mother didn't offer a hug; she gasped in horror because my muddy clothes were ruining her Italian marble. They didn't give me my old room back. Instead, they banished me to a moldy gardener’s shack and hired a "babysitter" to make sure I didn't embarrass them further. My sister, Kaleigh, stood there in white cashmere, pretending to cry while clinging to her fiancé, Ambrose—the man who had once been mine. They all treated me like a volatile junkie, refusing to acknowledge that Kaleigh was the one who planted the drugs in my bag three years ago. They wanted to believe I was broken so they wouldn't have to feel guilty about the "wellness retreat" that was actually a torture chamber. I sat in the dark of that shed, feeling the cooling gel on the cigarette burns that covered my arms, and realized they had made a fatal mistake. They thought they had erased me, but I had returned with a roadmap of scars and a hidden satellite phone. At dinner, I didn't beg for their love. I simply rolled up my sleeves and showed them the price of their silence. As the wine spilled and the lies crumbled, I sent a single text to the only person I trusted: "I'm in. Let them simmer." The hunt was finally on.

I arrived at the hotel with Julian's favorite takeout, ready to surprise my fiancé before our big merger. But the moment I swiped the keycard, the silence of the hallway felt heavy and wrong. Inside, a red-soled stiletto lay on the marble floor-the same one I'd watched my best friend Lila try on at Saks last week. Through the cracked bedroom door, I watched Julian's back arch as Lila looked me straight in the eye and smiled, wrapping her legs tighter around him to mock my heartbreak. I fled to the penthouse to hide, only to find Grafton, Julian's "crippled" brother, waiting in the dark. To my horror, the man who was supposed to be paralyzed stood up from his wheelchair, gripped my chin with cold fingers, and forced me to sign a contract that gave him control of my family's shares. He knew about my mother's secret medical bills and used them to buy my silence, effectively turning my life into a calculated game of corporate chess. The betrayal tasted like acid, and the injustice of it all burned in my throat. My fiancé was a liar, my best friend was a thief, and the man now controlling my fate was a predator who had been faking his disability for years. I couldn't understand how everyone I trusted had turned out to be a monster. I was trapped between a man who cheated on me and a man who wanted to own me, with no way out and no one to turn to. But when Julian came looking for me, Grafton didn't hide; he stood tall, looming over me with a possessive glint in his eyes. "Help me destroy Julian," I rasped, realizing that to survive the Faulkner men, I had to become the most dangerous player of them all.

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch—a titan of industry and my best friend’s father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband's Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn't find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn't even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father's legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn's party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara's health and managing every detail of Caden's empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I'd drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause-if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I'd forgotten.
