"REVENGE" Chapter 1 Ist Chapter

It's been seven years of a happy marriage. For all these years Rose had fought every barrier with resilience and determination to keep her husband happy. It wasn't easy but she was happy that every impediment had been subdued in one way or another. A year after giving birth to her first child, Shalom, Lim decided to shift the family to the huge mansion that he had constructed in the countryside near his father's ranch. It was high time he learnt to manage his mother's property because Mrs Kelly, his mother, was growing old and no longer had the strength to do so.

It was a peaceful environment with the serenity of its seclusion. Mia, Lim's sister who never got along well with Rose ad changed soon after shalom's birth. She was now on good terms with Rose and had accepted her as part of their family. Often she would come to visit to spend time with her niece or would fetch her and take her to the park in town. Shalom was now a beautiful bubbly girl who had taken much from her mother, Rose. She was loved and cherished by everyone because of her cheerful character.

Being a holiday, Shalom was rarely at home. She would either be at her granny's or with Mia or Lim would go with her often on weekends to show her around. As for Rose, she loved animals and stayed at the ranch most of the time tending to them. She had always loved cows and now that she owned a lot of them felt satisfied.

That day, Mia had shown up in

the mansion in the morning requesting to take Shalom out to go visit her childhood friend in town. Rose was against the idea because her husband had promised to come early and take his daughter for an evening walk. After a lot of pleading and pestering, Rose had accepted but with much reluctance.

"I will make sure we return before evening," Mia had promised genuinely. Rose was convinced that she would stand by her word because she was aware that Lim would be upset if he didn't find his daughter home by the time he returned.

"Why are they not here yet?" she grumbled and flounced around with uneasiness. She kept peeking in the direction of the metallic gate. It was getting late and she wouldn't want to irritate her husband."Mia where are you. You promised to return early and now look at the time." She said with a grimace and lingered on her wristwatch. It was almost 4:30 pm. Lim always returned home this time unless he communicated that he would be home late.

A twinge of anxiety gripped her. She was getting tense. Shalom was her father's favourite. The truth is that Lim had always been a favourite with children and now that he had his own, he shared a very strong bond with her and often wanted to spend precious time with her after work.

"I hope Lim delays in town or else he will start fuming." She thought and made long strides towards the gate to peek. Perhaps they were close. She opened the gate halfway and stood poised waiting in anticipation. Every minute that passed brought her fear and distress. She paced back and forth but neither Mia nor Shalom was anywhere to be seen. "Perhaps they have gone to see mom." She muttered with an expression of uncertainty on her face. Rose referred to Mrs Kelly as her mom because she had always shown her affection. To her, She was more than a mother-in-law. Needless to say, she was her second mom. "Perhaps I should give her a call." She talked to herself. She thought and dashed into her room. She hadn't held the phone in her hands when Lim called. Rose's heart jerked. "That must be Mia." She intuited and her face shone."Thank God she finally called." She said and flicked her finger on the phone with verve and received the call,

"Yes, Mia, where are you?"

"Hello, darling!" She held her breath at the sound of Lim's voice.

'Ye..s honey, how.. are you?" She sputtered nervously.

"I am Ok. I miss you very much."

"Oh, dear, same here." Her mouth lifted a smile at the corner.

"May I talk to my princess? I want to hear her voice." She wrung her hands and clapped her mouth jittery.

She was confused. "What should I tell him? If I say she's out, he will be upset." She thought. It was taking her too long to answer such a simple question. She was stuck and now trembling.

"Honey, are you listening?" The pitch of his voice increased, making her shrink.

"Oh, yeah, but not clearly. It must be a poor network. So, honey, what did you say?"

" I would like to speak to Shalom. Please can you give her the phone now?"

"Ah, too bad. She's gone for a short call. Sorry, dear."

"No, it's ok, no worries. After all, I am almost home. Prepare her soon. I want to take her out for a sandwich. I must hang up now."

"Ok, darling." She spoke in a low tone and her face bore an injured look.

Her heart thumped fast. She was seized with nervousness.

"Why did I have to lie to him? I am such a fool. He ought to reprimand me for deception." She bumbled around and dialled Mia's number fidgeting.

"Pick up, Mia please pick !" She said nervously.

"The number you've called cannot be reached, please try again later." said the voice in the background.

She screamed, flushing with anger.

"This can't be happening. I am in deep shit." She said and slumped on the bed, her eyes filled with terror, her heart hammering violently in her chest as if it would rip out soon.

Suddenly she shifts to a sitting posture and mumbles, "wait," she furrowed her eyebrows. "Mia, don't tell me you have started your old habit again. Why did you do this? You are trying my patience this time. You know it wasn't easy for me. If you hadn't insisted I would never have agreed to your proposition. Now you might plunge me into trouble." A spurt of anger clutched at her heart.

In a moment a car honked outside the gate.

"Bless me! That must be him." She thought and went out hastily to open the gate." She had guessed right. It was her husband. She flung the gate open and wore a disguised smile on her face, but her heart was heavy with fear and anxiety anticipating that the consequences of her foolish action might spoil the peace between her and her husband.

I stood at my mother's open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest's voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone-he brought Charla with him. He claimed she'd had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.

My bank account showed exactly $42.18, and my student loan notifications were flashing red. I lived in a sweltering Queens apartment with my Aunt Lydia, where the air was thick with the smell of stale frying oil and the constant threat of being homeless. Lydia handed me a grainy photo of a man twice my age and told me she had already "sold" me to him. He was a dry cleaner looking for a wife, and in exchange for my hand, he would pay off her credit cards and my debt. If I didn't show up for the date that night, my boxes would be on the curb by midnight. I arrived at the cafe in a state of panic, my selective mutism making it impossible to even breathe. In the crowded room, I accidentally sat at the wrong table. Instead of the man from the photo, I found myself facing Gerhard Holcomb—the cold, terrifyingly handsome billionaire whose family owned the very museum where I worked. He didn't send me away; instead, he studied my trembling hands and offered me a different deal: a two-year contract marriage, a two-million-dollar payout, and a strict clause forbidding any children. I signed the papers and moved into his Park Avenue penthouse, thinking I was finally safe. But when I went back to the old apartment to retrieve the only memento of my dead parents, Lydia lashed out, leaving me bleeding from a head wound. Gerhard’s retaliation was absolute—he had her arrested and her building foreclosed on within hours, claiming he was simply "protecting his assets." As I recovered in his silent, glass-walled home, I saw a call from a famous socialite flash on his phone, and a cold truth settled in my gut. I wasn't just a wife; I was a placeholder, a silent shield used to fend off the women from his past. I looked at the massive pink diamond on my finger and realized the silence I had lived in my whole life was about to become my most expensive prison. I had traded a life of poverty for a high-stakes game of shadows, and now I had to survive the man who claimed to own me.

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.

Flash Marriage To My Best Friend's Father

Flash Marriage To My Best Friend's Father

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch-a titan of industry and my best friend's father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.

I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.
