Mind Path Of Zoe Chapter 1 THE LAST STEP IS THE FIRST

The sore sight of the battleground was provoking, but in its midst stood a beauty, a rare sight to behold. Hacking through the enemies in front her with her wings spread out, she looks like an angel who just taken a blood bath. That beauty is the queen of the zoe's(zoways).

"my queen, we can't continue fighting like this" one of the four elders shout as he turned his sword into a spear and hurled it towards a super soldier defending the queen. She quickly looked round and saw the truth in his statement, her people was being slayed at every corner of the battlefield. They were never weak but people whose powers have been known to go beyond human comprehension but what was giving the super soldiers of the allied forces an overwhelming edge over them was her child.

Thinking of this she sub-consciously touched the child strapped at her back. Still in her train of thought, she could feel a heavy killing intent behind her, turning swiftly she dodged the attack by a hair breadth. Using the momentum, she created a sword out of thin air and brought it down on an escaping blurry figure.

"so it's really true that the great queen of the zoe's has been weakened" the super soldier sneered as blood trickled down the sides of his mouth.

"you have the guts to talk" she spat out, before dislodging his head from his shoulders. Feeling greatly weakened she rested on her sword for support, slowly her wings disappeared in a dim light. Seeing this the first elder was by her side supporting her, suddenly in a blink of an eye they were at the other side of the battle field where their camp was located knowing that this will be their last stand and their queen was on her last leg. From afar, they could hear the super powered heavy artillery of the allied forces on its way to their camp to give them the certificate of extinction.

"my queen, you are getting weaker please let go of the child" the second elder pleaded.

"please my queen, we all know that he's your beloved son. But his innate power has allowed only 5% of your powers to manifest and at this moment you are at your weakest" the fourth elder concurred.

"at times letting go is an art love" the first elder added as they all hoped the queen will let go of the child and live for them. After listening to what they have to say she gave out a big sigh.

"just let go", She murmured under her breadth, so no one heard what she said.

"ok, how long will it those pigs to reach here" she asked as a matter of fact she bellowed out of anger.

"my queen, it will take less than 20 minutes" one of the scouts said clutching to his bleeding wound which was healing slowly but at a visible pace.

"it'll be enough" saying this using every ounce of energy in her, she opened a summoning portal. Seeing that the portal was fully opened her feet wobbled but she quickly regained her composure. Her people were curious to know who their queen had call for help, because it was a known fact that she is a proud figure that doesn't need the help of anyone. But their curiosity was short lived when a man who looked like he is in his mid 20's stepped out of the portal before it closed.

The sound of murmuring filled the place as they saw who the queen had called for help, the fourth elder couldn't help but ask,

"isn't that the time master?"

"no, that's not the time master, but time itself" the first elder quickly corrected.

"it's been long you cocky brat" time jeered looking all handsome in his all black suit.

Hearing this the faces of the soldiers turned red as they want to avenge the insult their queen had received, but for the timely intervention of the third elder the soldiers wouldn't have known how they died.

"don't be a fat buffon" she snapped backed feeling annoyed almost regretting why she is asking for his help, but she had no choice.

"don't worry, if it's the allied forces you are worried about time on their has been slowed down all thanks to me" he bragged

"and I dislike it when someone interrupts me, in the middle of a conversation", he added thoughtfully.

'what a show off', the queen thought but still kept her mind at the matter at hand.

"how about I challenge you to a race" she said gravely

"whoopee, a race against time", Time squealed excitedly

"but you know my dear flower that no one has won a race against time" he added with a stress in his voice. The queen bit her lower lip as she weighed her options but before she could speak time spoke again

"so I'll ask, what's your demand if you win and what do you wager" he said plainly.

"my demand if I win is his safety and my wager is him" she quickly answered without hesitating as she unstrapped the baby from her back. The four elders couldn't help it but gasp in surprise, because when they told her to let go they never expected this. Time looked at her curiously to see if she take back her statement when she realizes the cost, but seeing her resolve he couldn't help it but sigh.

"you are willing to let go of a child who could omnipotent, omniscience and omnipresent, A child who is literally greater than a god" he asked slowly, which she affirmed with nodding of her head.

"then I won't stop you" he added as he quickly collect the child from her, one could see the sparkle of desire in his eyes as he carried the child.

'what a shameless fool, he should have convinced her yet he just did that' the fourth elder thought as quivered in rage. Quickly turning to face her people, she looked at each and every one of them and said with a smile

"nothing great comes without a sacrifice"

hearing this , every one strengthened their resolve to fight till their dying breadth. As long as the fight will feel good, they don't care about death.

"are you ready?" Time asked just for the sake of formality

"ready than ever" saying this she quickly turned and looked at the symbol of the zoe's, it is a cross with wings for its arms.

"wish me luck" she calmly said before zooming of with Time.

'the speed of an angel never stops to amaze me' Time thought, as he sped up.

PRESENT DAY, 2022

In a dark alley, they cries of a teenage boy was heard as he brutally beaten to the brink of death. He was in his final year as a high school student named Quill Petra , but yet still he was beaten just because he said the truth to defend the name of someone he knew nothing about. as he was being beaten, someone just stood at the corner watching the whole scene.

"see what his selfless attitude has gotten into" the man said with a puff of smoke.

"boss I think he's dead" one of the thugs shouted

"let the dead bury the dead" the boss replied with indifference as he has seen worst in his life.

"let's report back to the big boss" he added as they quickly left the area.

a little distance from where the crime had take place, Time could be seen holding a baby in his arms panting furiously.

"that damn b***h" he cursed under his breath, because later realized that the suppose race he had was all a plot to transfer all the soul energy of the zoe's into the child making him super unstable, then lose the race. Knowing that Time don't losing his prizes especially the best ones, so he won't let the child die; it was all a deadly gamble.

"since you bested me this time, I'll be lenient to take an extra care of my prize" he said as walked towards the dark alley, he could feel his energy seeping away slowly due to the child's presence.

'but I'll need the body of a person with pure innocence and heart, which will be hard to find...' Time thought before his train of thought was halted when he saw the dying body of Quill.

"beautiful Mary! what a perfect specimen, who said perfect men don't exist" Time exclaimed as he walked to the boy and slowly inserted the baby inside him.

'incubate there peacefully till I come' he whispered before disappearing.

The rains began to fall steadily, with the new energy coursing through his body Quill heart began to beat again.

"looks like I have survived yet another day" Quill said painfully not knowing what had happened, as he laid there the symbol of the zoe's slowly appeared on his left wrist. And in his mind space the baby could be seen developing at a visible rate, due to pure energy of his mind.

For two years, I was the invisible force behind tech billionaire Kieran Douglas, convinced that our "private" romance was his way of protecting us from the tabloid spotlight. I managed his mergers, warmed his bed, and waited for a future that didn't exist. The illusion shattered at 6:00 AM when a Page Six alert debuted Kieran’s "real" romance with socialite Aspen Schneider. Before I could even process the betrayal, Kieran sent me a cold, professional text: "Order flowers for Aspen. Pink peonies. Her favorite." When I tried to walk away, my own mother called me a disgrace and threatened to lock my inheritance forever unless I married a sixty-year-old businessman to save her failing estate. At a high-society gala that same night, Aspen intentionally crushed my burned hand in front of the cameras, while Kieran stood by and dismissed me as a "mediocre assistant" who had overstayed her welcome. I stood in the cold New York rain, drenched in champagne and humiliation, realizing that every sacrifice I made for Kieran was a joke. I was a ghost in a penthouse that was never mine, discarded the moment his "soulmate" returned. To the world, I was just a placeholder whose time had run out. But Kieran forgot one thing: my father’s multi-million dollar trust fund unlocks the moment I legally marry. I didn't need love; I needed a signature and a shield. I walked into a discreet law firm and signed a marriage contract with a man I believed was the city’s most notorious, scandal-ridden playboy. I thought I was marrying a degenerate "beard" to buy my freedom and secure my revenge. I didn't realize the man who signed that paper wasn't a playboy at all, but Gaston Collins—the most powerful and dangerous man on Wall Street—and he had no intention of letting our fake marriage stay fake.

I had just survived a private jet crash, my body a map of violet bruises and my lungs still burning from the smoke. I woke up in a sterile hospital room, gasping for my husband's name, only to realize I was completely alone. While I was bleeding in a ditch, my husband, Adam, was on the news smiling at a ribbon-cutting ceremony. When I tracked him down at the hospital's VIP wing, I didn't find a grieving husband. I found him tenderly cradling his ex-girlfriend, Casie, in his arms, his face lit with a protective warmth he had never shown me as he carried her into the maternity ward. The betrayal went deeper than I could have imagined. Adam admitted the affair started on our third anniversary-the night he claimed he was stuck in London for a merger. Back at the manor, his mother had already filled our planned nursery with pink boutique bags for Casie's "little princess." When I demanded a divorce, Adam didn't flinch. He sneered that I was "gutter trash" from a foster home and that I'd be begging on the streets within a week. To trap me, he froze my bank accounts, cancelled my flight, and even called the police to report me for "theft" of company property. I realized then that I wasn't his partner; I was a charity case he had plucked from obscurity to manage his life. To the Hortons, I was just a servant who happened to sleep in the master bedroom, a "resilient" woman meant to endure his abuse in silence while the whole world laughed at the joke that was my marriage. Adam thought stripping me of his money would make me crawl back to him. He was wrong. I walked into his executive suite during his biggest deal of the year and poured a mug of sludge over his original ten-million-dollar contracts. Then, right in front of his board and his mistress, I stripped off every designer thread he had ever paid for until I was standing in nothing but my own silk camisole. "You can keep the clothes, Adam. They're as hollow as you are." I grabbed my passport, turned my back on his billions, and walked out of that glass tower barefoot, bleeding, and finally free.

I arrived at the hotel with Julian's favorite takeout, ready to surprise my fiancé before our big merger. But the moment I swiped the keycard, the silence of the hallway felt heavy and wrong. Inside, a red-soled stiletto lay on the marble floor-the same one I'd watched my best friend Lila try on at Saks last week. Through the cracked bedroom door, I watched Julian's back arch as Lila looked me straight in the eye and smiled, wrapping her legs tighter around him to mock my heartbreak. I fled to the penthouse to hide, only to find Grafton, Julian's "crippled" brother, waiting in the dark. To my horror, the man who was supposed to be paralyzed stood up from his wheelchair, gripped my chin with cold fingers, and forced me to sign a contract that gave him control of my family's shares. He knew about my mother's secret medical bills and used them to buy my silence, effectively turning my life into a calculated game of corporate chess. The betrayal tasted like acid, and the injustice of it all burned in my throat. My fiancé was a liar, my best friend was a thief, and the man now controlling my fate was a predator who had been faking his disability for years. I couldn't understand how everyone I trusted had turned out to be a monster. I was trapped between a man who cheated on me and a man who wanted to own me, with no way out and no one to turn to. But when Julian came looking for me, Grafton didn't hide; he stood tall, looming over me with a possessive glint in his eyes. "Help me destroy Julian," I rasped, realizing that to survive the Faulkner men, I had to become the most dangerous player of them all.
