SELENE GETS CHEATED

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Today, we finally get our god or goddess, the ruler of the moon!" Zeus speaks loudly so that everyone can hear them in silence.
The arena is close to the boundary between heaven and earth, all the gods, even the one from the underworld are present.
"My children, Máni and Selene will compete for the title," Zeus pronounces with his chest heaving with pride.
Máni and Selene are twin brothers, born on the eclipse caused by the alignment of all the planets, this happens only every millennium. For five hundred and fifty years they have been trained hard for this great day.
Máni, at five meters and eighty-five centimeters tall, had silver hair, amber colored eyes. His body is muscular, with a square jaw and not a single beard. His voice is deep, his presence is dominant, and he can be felt for miles around. However, kindness has never been his strongest suit, he is arrogant, spoiled, and has always thought of himself as superior; the word love has never been part of his dictionary. He is an extraordinary warrior, the hunt is named after him. But Selene, never behind, always one step ahead of him; Máni didn't take kindly to this.
Unlike her twin brother, Selene averages four meters and sixty-three centimeters in height. Her hair, like her brother's, was silver, and the length went down to her slender waist. Her eyes were blue, a dark shade, but one that conveyed tranquility, and her skin radiated a bluish light. Her body was lean, but with all the muscles defined, she was the best at hunting, sports, and strategies. Her teacher was Athens herself, the eldest daughter and favorite of Zeus. Selene is fascinated by love, unlike her brother, she never wished to be any goddess, all she wanted most was to have a companion by her side.
Selene was hiding a secret, in the mortal world she will find what she has always sought. Love came in the form of a human man; he always looked up to the sky, while the stars were shining. She watched him for days, his shoulder-length black hair fluttering in the hissing night wind. His strong muscles from days of hard training, the dark color of his skin, his full lips and well-shaped beard, she was fascinated by the male beauty in front of her. But one night, she decided to disguise herself as a human and called him by name:
"Licaão" a sweet sound hovers over the calm whistling of the wind filling the young king's ears, as if the most beautiful of songs were resounding in his timpani.
"Who are you?' You could see in his eyes how impressed he was with the beauty of the woman in front of him. You will never be more beautiful.
"My name is Selene, what do you see so much in the sky?" she takes a few steps, standing side by side with Licaão.
"I miss the moon, it's been years since I've seen it in the sky, counting the months has become practically impossible," she says sincerely.
The ancient goddess of the moon passed away, she succumbed to the sin of greed and wanted to be more than a mere moon containing only highlights during the night, her service was only for the benefit of humans, without any recognition. She wanted to take the place of Zeus, she wanted to be worshiped, and so a war broke out and quickly came to an end; Zeus killed her in battle, her body fell into the abundant springs of the earth and made the waters salty, so that humans could survive, Zeus created fresh water among the heaps of earth.
The moon always played an important role, it was essential, when the ancient goddess passed away, the night sky was left without its ruler. Zeus made a replacement star, but she too died a few years ago. Luckily, it is not long before the new ruler is chosen, and the sky returns to its glory days.
"She will appear again," Selene says with conviction, and Licaão looks at the profile of her face.
'Coming from you, I have no doubts," he answers, smiling.
The nights went by, and the dates were already six months old. Every night the couple met under the stars on the beach. Selene sighed and counted the hours to see her beloved again. But this secret didn't last long; her brother found out and saw there an opportunity to win her over. Blackmail was not without honor for Máni.
"Give up the competition!' he imposes calmly as he walks with her through the white rose gardens.
"No, I've prepared a lot for this day, and I won't..."
"I'll tell Zeus about your escapades into the human world, and I'm sure Papa won't be happy about it" he threatens darkly.
At the same instant Selene's body stops moving, the air seems to become heavier, she disguises the slight tremor of her fingers clenching her hands into fists.
"Are you blackmailing me?" she asks, with one eyebrow furrowed and her mouth compressed into a straight line.
"My dear sister, I'm just making things easier for both of us," Máni smiles, showing her perfect teeth.
"I don't see how this can be easy," he says between his teeth with his jaw hardened by anger.
"When I become the moon god, I can intercede for you to become a human so that you can live by the side of your beloved," Selene begins to take an interest in her brother's words.
"Why a wolf?" her eyebrows drew together in confusion, and this amused Máni.
"On the day of the competition, we'll have to give each other a present, and I want a wolf, big and black, different from the others, bigger and with red eyes. I want him. Then we'll both be happy," he looks into his sister's eyes, making it clear that he is not open to any other kind of negotiation.
"Do you promise that I will be transformed into a human?" she sighs, giving in, this reaction makes Máni's smile open even wider.
"Of course my sister, have I ever lied?" he puts her arm around her sister's shoulder and they head for the castle of her father, Zeus.
Hope has blinded Selene, she should not have believed the false words of her twin brother.
I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.
I stood at my mother's open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest's voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone-he brought Charla with him. He claimed she'd had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.
The Day the Vampires Awoke
The Day the Vampires Awoke
Flying Free
I was twenty years old and dying of ALS, my body wasting away into a pile of twitching muscles and lead-heavy limbs. With only a month left to live, I took my parents' entire fifty-thousand-dollar inheritance to a rain-slicked alley and gambled it all on a single vial of "unregistered" blood. The liquid tasted like battery acid and stopped my heart cold, but when I woke up, the paralysis was gone. My skin was pale, my eyes had turned into glowing molten silver, and the only thing that could satisfy my agonizing hunger was the sound of silver jewelry shattering between my teeth. But the cure came with a terrifying new vision: I could see the blue, parasitic shadows living inside everyone around me. My neighbors, my teachers, and even the little girl next door were being hollowed out by monsters with needle-teeth and lashing tentacles that no one else could see. When the school went into lockdown and the halls filled with the scent of rotting fish, I realized an invisible invasion had already claimed the city. The military didn't come to rescue us; they came to "sanitize" the zone, turning their miniguns on the terrified students to bury the evidence of the outbreak. I was trapped on a roof with a handful of survivors and a mysterious girl named Elise who looked at me like I was a genetic mistake. "No one is coming to save us," I whispered, watching the helicopters circle like vultures. I grabbed Elise’s enchanted silver dagger, ignored her warnings, and crunched the blade into a savory paste. As a wave of dark, forbidden power turned my skin into a Vantablack void, I stopped being a dying kid and became the only thing the monsters were afraid of.
