What a prosperous life would it be if you were luckily gifted to be born both a genius and wealthy right? You wouldn't need to be forced into any arduous work as you can accomplish everything easily. But how about if you were born like this for a twisted purpose? That you are meant to be a witty puppet like that of the super excellent robot creation of humans? It would be better of course to wish for your death than to have this kind of life continued. However, as stated everything was made for a purpose. Where you are born as genius or not, wealthy or poor, ugly or attractive, has the same ultimate goal in life. To find your love, happiness, and peace. Regardless of what you want to become someday. So that's why hesitantly continuing his life as a mere tool, Lucretius arrived at an empress-like lodge. Where the woman, far from his understanding, works in an entirely opposite determined passion from him. Unbelievably ignoring and trashing any people who wants to build either a good or bad relationship with her, which includes him. Water to an oil they are, the sweetness from the bitter relationship of them will soon change perhaps each other.

I want a business Mr Billionaire! Not you! Chapter 1 Prologue

"Well, then it is settled, Mr. De Valois. Thank you for sharing your time with me." I gladly said goodbye with a scarce smile while taking my shoulder bag up.

At last, after hours of having a monologue in front of this silent freak, I finally managed to get a foreign investor. However, it seemed quite new in business as his name isn't that popular, isn't it? But that doesn't concern me anymore, as long as he stays true to his words.

And I still need to meet another so I should hurry up. For I should also leave this unfathomable and super-duper cheap in words man as I even don't know if his eyes are naturally as teary as how I see it, but how is it so infusing? As if he has his own alluring world in there where what he always sees is somewhat saddening, which is making him so quiet? But why do I care anyway, I was able to sign a deal with him. And.... that's what matters!

"Sida." Was my understanding of his sudden probably one in a million murmur that stopped me from inwardly screaming?

I can't help but raise my eyebrow as I frankly don't know if he's still talking to me or perhaps he is but in a different language? Oh, maybe he's telling me to go away instantly? Perhaps, I didn't hear it right because I was so celebrating inside? But what if he changed his mind?!

Ah! Calm down, self!

"Uh... yes?" That was all I can say after those many attempts of understanding his own words. I just hope he repeats it. Or else I will instantly run so that he won't have any chance to cancel the agreement if he wanted to.

He slowly put his wine down and looked straight at me. "Sit down." He shortly repeated.

Right, he isn't really the one to be nervous, is he? If analyzed properly, he is sitting aristocratically calm. Which seemed to attract our whole surroundings because I can feel varied stares from different directions. Yeah, whatever. I still need to hear what he is going to add.

"Anything else?" I nervously inquired as I slowly and warily sat down back. I can't help but feel uneasy about this.

Weirdly eyeing me up and down as if he just saw me is what he did next upon me sitting back. Should I just really run? But he knows where I live, where our family lodge stands, and where my office is!

Wait? Why am I being afraid anyway? He is a businessman and quite the rich one who reserved our lodge. That's why I decided to offer him a deal. In which he just signed!

Oh, he merely smiled... Wait?!

"You smiled?" I thought he had some kind of disease that made his entire senses permanently scowl? As his companions, Alejandro and Rosario once said he has long lost his smile.

"Why not?" He out of nowhere asked as I am busy analyzing if his smile is fake or – wait?! Did I just blurt out my words?

I instantly covered my mouth at the late realization as I also tried to hide my whole body on the table. What a dangerous mouth.

Mustering my left pride, "I apologize, Mr. De Valois, it was just so rare to see you smile. Anyway, why did you make me sit back again?" I explained embarrassedly with a sudden swiftness of topic for this humiliating situation to stop. I am drowning here with mortification you know.

But... Why is he now smirking? I promise this man is playful! If only he wasn't a business partner of mine, I would really love to step into his boastful pride.

"I will revamp your small lodge if you want to." Grabbing his drink, he coldly stated with his resonant voice.

Did he say revamp our small lodge? Am I supposed to be happy or not? Because judging from the words themselves, it already is mocking. Which is raising my presumption that something is indeed fishy. I just can't pull their scales out yet, to see what's inside.

Calming myself, I slowly grabbed my left cold glass of wine many hours ago as a distraction to my uneasiness. "For what reason?" I effused trying to match his cold tone.

That's when he again drank his wine while deliberately taking all his time in the world gulping. Should I just smack or kick him? Thank your demon I am wearing a dress or else you've long gone lame.

After extending my patience a little longer beyond its extent, I really can't hold it. "Uh... Mr. De Valo-"

"Be my therapist." He, at last, impassively responded as he cut me off.

But did my ears hear it right? I-Is he asking me to be his therapist? When on Earth did I become a therapist? Do I look like a therapist to him? Well... maybe I'm just hallucinating because of the unbearable silence.

"Yes?" I decided to ask to make sure even if that's merely my hallucination, the word still fits the first conversation of us.

Yet instead of making it clear, "You wouldn't also need to pay back the money I will invest." He replied very far.

I'm beginning to see what needs to be cured in this man.

"So, you're really asking me to be your therapist, Mr. De Valois?" I asked straight to the point. Not considering the profits he's adding. As I am, my mind is beginning to suggest that I should just cancel our agreement. I will preferably find another investor than put interest on such a ridiculous offer.

Before he replied, his phone buzzed when he answered first.

Then glancing at me. "I'm not..." He clarified shortly.

Out of exploding curiosity, "What?!" I scarcely exclaimed. Even with my temper being challenged, I still am very well aware of my surroundings.

He put down his ever-provoking wine and responded. "It's an order."

My mouth stayed slightly ajar for a second before recovering my senses. Then I chuckled loudly at his reply. He's indeed in need of therapy!

Faking faint coughs, I let go of the glass in my hands. "Mr. De Valois, please understand that even if you're from a wealthy family, you cannot order every person in the world. Everything has its limits." I advised sincerely yet burning with laughter inwardly. What a spoiled child.

Not long after I'm done with my life-touching advice, my phone buzzed as well. I checked positively but when I read the report, my hand dropped the phone on its own. I froze as I began to recall what I'd just read.

Sister, mother signed the lodge to be in Mr. Lucretius' hand. Which solved all the worries and problems. Congratulations to us! I gulped a deep one before composing my posture. So that explains why he goes around ordering me? Well, what can I do then? Sho-

"If you agree, I will give it back for free." He nonchalantly stated as he enjoys watching me mourning to myself.

What am I to him anyway?

I was four months pregnant, weighing over two hundred pounds, and my heart was failing from experimental treatments forced on me as a child. My doctor looked at me with clinical detachment and told me I was in a death sentence: if I kept the baby, I would die, and if I tried to remove it, I would die. Desperate for a lifeline, I called my father, Francis Acosta, to tell him I was sick and pregnant. I expected a father's love, but all I got was a cold, sharp blade of a voice. "Then do it quietly," he said. "Don't embarrass Candi. Her debutante ball is coming up." He didn't just reject me; he erased me. My trust fund was frozen, and I was told I was no longer an Acosta. My fiancé, Auston, had already discarded me, calling me a "bloated whale" while he looked for a thinner, wealthier replacement. I left New York on a Greyhound bus, weeping into a bag of chips, a broken woman the world considered a mistake. I couldn't understand how my own father could tell me to die "quietly" just to save face for a party. I didn't know why I had been a lab rat for my family’s pharmaceutical ambitions, or how they could sleep at night while I was left to rot in the gray drizzle of the city. Five years later, the doors of JFK International Airport slid open. I stepped onto the marble floor in red-soled stilettos, my body lean, lethal, and carved from years of blood and sweat. I wasn't the "whale" anymore; I was a ghost coming back to haunt them. With my daughter by my side and a medical reputation that terrified the global elite, I was ready to dismantle the Acosta empire piece by piece. "Tell Francis to wash his neck," I whispered to the skyline. "I'm home."

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch—a titan of industry and my best friend’s father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.

I arrived at my uncle’s mansion looking like human trash, clutching a one-way bus ticket and a duffel bag stuffed with old newspaper. My aunt looked at me with pure disgust, as if she could smell the poverty on my skin, but they needed me for one thing: to be a sacrificial lamb. They told me I was getting married to Julian Sterling, a man the elite circles called a violent monster locked in a cage. My uncle forced me to sign away my soul to save their failing fortune, while my cousin Kayla laughed and threw a torn dress at my feet, calling me a "rat from the Rust Belt." At the Sterling estate, the nightmare only deepened. Julian’s stepmother treated me like a horse she was forced to buy, ordering the staff to "burn off" my hair before locking me in the West Wing. I was thrown into a padded cell with a man who lunged at me, his heavy chains rattling against the floor as he roared with an animalistic rage that had already killed two nurses. They thought I was a pathetic, uneducated girl who "didn't read so good." They didn't know I had extorted two million dollars from my uncle before walking out the door, or that I was secretly recording every slap and insult they threw at me for future leverage. I huddled in the corner of that dark cell, letting them watch me tremble on the security feeds. I let Julian’s sister strike me with a riding crop and splash water in my face, playing the role of the clumsy, sobbing idiot to perfection. But the moment the cameras looped, the scared girl vanished. I pinned the "monster" to the floor, cut the neural tracking chip out of his neck with a hidden scalpel, and whispered into his ear as his blue eyes finally cleared. They thought they were sending a lamb to the slaughter. They had no idea they were sending a wolf to hunt a beast.
