Samantha decided she couldn't go on living like this anymore. She had to leave him as soon as possible...

Chapter 1 The Accident

She only saw countless lights flash in front of her, and someone's angry roar sounded in her ear: "Damn it!"

Tires rubbing against the road make a shrill sound. Her whole body began to wobble as if being thrown into the air. She could only desperately close her eyes, crying out in fear.

The sound of the collision seemed to make her heart stop. The whole body was pressed down by something heavy, breathing was also difficult. Her head hit the street, and her mind went blank for a moment. She seemed to hear the call of death.

The driver in the car got out and saw what he had just done. At the moment, he was extremely scared. His cross-section didn't have a single drop of blood. His legs trembled and he took a difficult step forward.

Just see blood everywhere, a person lying motionless on the road. The long hair covered most of her pale face.

He looked around. No one has seen this. He climbed into his car at once, quickly turned the steering wheel, and left that place.

In the night, she was awakened by the pain. Her whole body was pressed, the pain was so bad that she wanted to scream. When her hazy consciousness clears, she opens her eyes. The girl tries to move her left hand. She wanted to say something, but her throat was as dry as a dry well. She could not make a sound. After all, she desperately swallowed her saliva, finally making a sound: "Help... Help me..."

But then in a second, she gradually lost consciousness. She heard the sound of a car approaching in the distance. The black car stopped, and a young man was pushed forward and asked:

"What is going on?"

"Master! There seems to be something up front." The driver narrowed his eyes.

"What is this?" A voice filled with boredom spoke up.

"I will go down and see." The driver carefully approached. After seeing the incident clearly, he immediately returned to the car in a panic.

"Master! There was an accident. It's a young girl. I think she is still alive."

The man in the car who was half-closed hearing that, then his eyes opened. He got out of the car and approached the scene of the accident. It seems that the accident happened not long ago. The traces are still very new.

"Master! Should we save..."

"For what?" A harsh voice resounded.

"It's still a human network after all." The driver tried to convince his master.

"What's the point of saving her?"

He was a businessman, no compassion was allowed here. But the driver is right. It's a man's life. He must have humanity, no matter how talented or wealthy he is.

"Please, this girl is so young, it's a shame she dies. Please assist her! Or at least please let me help her. It's only a minute."

At the driver's persuasion, he finally agreed to take the girl to the hospital.

"Doctor! Doctor! Please quickly save her!" The driver hugged the girl and ran into the hospital lobby. Her blood soaking his shirt.

Behind him, the cold man still walked in leisurely, as if coming here was for a walk, not to save people.

The doctors quickly surround that girl. They started clinical diagnosis and first aid for the patient, and then immediately transferred her to the emergency room.

"Are you a relative of the patient?" The old doctor raised his glasses and looked at the driver.

"No, I don't. She had an accident. But time presses! If something happens to her, just tell me." He let go of his hand and walked toward the doctor.

"Now the patient needs to do surgery immediately. You sign here and pay the hospital fee. According to my prediction, if there is an internal hemorrhage in the brain, there may be sequelae. In addition, her face is damaged. The damage was quite severe, requiring plastic surgery."

"I'll take care of all the hospital bills, but her face..."

About a half-hour later...

The corridor is still crowded with patients and doctors and nurses are walking.

"Master! You..."

"You needless to say. I will not put myself at a disadvantage. Just doing that would have saved her life, which would have been too good for her."

"But if..."

"Don't say anything. I will have my way."

"Wait... Give me all of her identification."

"But..." The driver said.

"What? Is something wrong?" The cold man raised his eyebrows.

"I don't mean that, it's just that you're... What do you want to do with her?

"I have my plans.

The driver could only shake his head. The owner always only knew how to do his own thing. Although he was a talented person, he always did everything he wanted. He never left others a way back. And then one day he also will be harmed by this personality of his.

"You stay here. When there is any news, let me know."

"Master! Please let me take you home!"

"It's okay. I can drive myself home."

"Yes, master! Be careful!"

Then that man turned and walked away, arrogant, proud beyond comparison.

Today, he was originally tired all day, but to be entangled in this, was so tiring. He drove straight to the nearest mansion. On arriving, he threw the key on the table, and then went straight upstairs, into the bathroom.

The steam rose around the bathroom. He was now awake a lot. Looking directly at himself in the mirror, he was silent for a long time.

After all, what is he doing? He couldn't understand himself either.

Wrapping the towel around his body, he stepped out of the bathroom, sat down on the bed, and started drying his hair.

Everything has begun, and will continue how, will be for him to decide. By the end, there will be nothing worth worrying about. He wasn't the one who would regret his decision before. Because he firmly believes that he can control everything to his will.

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.

Nicole had entered marriage with Walter, a man who never returned her feelings, bound to him through an arrangement made by their families rather than by choice. Even so, she had held onto the quiet belief that time might soften his heart and that one day he would learn to love her. However, that day never came. Instead, he treated her with constant contempt, tearing her down with cruel words and dismissing her as fat and manipulative whenever it suited him. After two years of a cold and distant marriage, Walter demanded a divorce, delivering his decision in the most degrading manner he could manage. Stripped of her dignity and exhausted by the humiliation, Nicole agreed to her friend Brenda's plan to make him see what he had lost. The idea was simple but daring. She would use another man to prove that the woman Walter had mocked and insulted could still be desired by someone else. All they had to do was hire a gigolo. Patrick had endured one romantic disappointment after another. Every woman he had been involved with had been drawn not to him, but to his wealth. As one of the heirs to a powerful and influential family, he had long accepted that this pattern was almost unavoidable. What Patrick wanted was far more difficult to find. He longed to fall in love with a woman who cared for him as a person, not for the name he carried or the fortune attached to it. One night, while he was at a bar, an attractive stranger approached him. Because of his appearance and composed demeanor, she mistook him for a gigolo. She made an unconventional proposal, one that immediately caught his interest and proved impossible for him to refuse.

The heavy thud of the release stamp was the only goodbye I got from the warden after five years in federal prison. I stepped out into the blinding sun, expecting the same flash of paparazzi bulbs that had seen me dragged away in handcuffs, but there was only a single black limousine idling on the shoulder of the road. Inside sat my mother and sister, clutching champagne and looking at my frayed coat with pure disgust. They didn't offer a welcome home; instead, they tossed a thick legal document onto the table and told me I was dead to the city. "Gavin and I are getting engaged," my sister Mia sneered, flicking a credit card at me like I was a stray dog. "He doesn't need a convict ex-fiancée hanging around." Even after I saved their lives from an armed kidnapping attempt by ramming the attackers off the road, they rewarded me by leaving me stranded in the dirt. When I finally ran into Gavin, the man who had framed me, he pinned me against a wall and threatened to send me back to a cell if I ever dared to show my face at their wedding. They had stolen my biotech research, ruined my name, and let me rot for half a decade while they lived off my brilliance. They thought they had broken me, leaving me with nothing but an expired chapstick and a few old photos in a plastic bag. What they didn't know was that I had spent those five years becoming "Dr. X," a shadow consultant with five hundred million dollars in crypto and a secret that would bring the city to its knees. I wasn't just a victim anymore; I was a weapon, and I was pregnant with the heir they thought they had erased. I walked into the Melton estate and made an offer to the most powerful man in New York. "I'll save your grandfather's life," I told Horatio Melton, staring him down. "But the price is your last name. I'm taking back what's mine, and I'm starting with the man who thinks he's marrying my sister."

For four years, I traced the bullet scar on Chace’s chest, believing it was proof he would bleed to keep me safe. On our anniversary, he told me to wear white because "tonight changes everything." I walked into the gala thinking I was getting a ring. Instead, I stood frozen in the center of the ballroom, drowning in silk, watching him slide his mother's sapphire onto another woman's finger. Karyn Warren. The daughter of a rival family. When I begged him with my eyes to claim me, to save me from the public humiliation, he didn't flinch. He just leaned toward his Underboss, his voice amplified by the silence. "Karyn is for power. Ember is for pleasure. Don't confuse the assets." My heart didn't just break; it incinerated. He expected me to stay as his mistress, threatening to dig up my dead mother’s grave if I refused to play the obedient pet. He thought I was trapped. He thought I had nowhere to go because of my father’s massive gambling debts. He was wrong. With shaking hands, I pulled out my phone and texted the one name I was never supposed to use. Keith Mosley. The Don. The monster under Chace's bed. *I am invoking the Blood Oath. My father’s debt. I am ready to pay it.* His reply came three seconds later, buzzing against my palm like a warning. *The price is marriage. You belong to me. Yes or No?* I looked up at Chace, who was laughing with his new fiancée, thinking he owned me. I looked down and typed three letters. *Yes.*
