''Garsaw, Garsaw'!

Garsaw's mom, Elaida, beckoned to him while he was out playing with his friends.

He was twelve years old at the moment and his parents thought it was time for him to be introduced to his fated mate.

''She just would never let me be, I'd be back in a bit'' Garsaw told his complaining friends and started to head towards his mother who stood in front of the entrance of the pack house.

''Mom, it's time for me to be out playing with my friends. Why are you so attached to me? I ought to be out there with them, not having any conversation with you for the moon's sake, mom'', Garsaw complained bitterly to his mother.

Elaida pulled Garsaw into the house behind her without making any comments concerning his complaints.

There was something more important to take care of at the moment than being outside playing with his friends, and Garsaw was soon going to find out.

''What the hell? Oh my days, oh my'', Garsaw exclaimed and turned hurriedly to leave the living room that his mom had just pulled him into.

There stood his old dad the current Alpha Jake, and the packs seer, 'Moon eyes'.

Moon eyes was feared by kids of the Kinetic pack and beyond because of the queer way she was built.

First of all, her eyes had no color, they were like glass and anyone that looked into them was sure to get his or herself lost in them for a couple of seconds or more. They were dreadful to look at, her aura was also intense, too intense for even most adult werewolves to comprehend, not to talk of the kids in the pack.

They would rather not be around her ever in their lives if it was possible, but all the male wolf-kids in the Kinetic pack were destined to meet 'Moon eyes' at least once in their lifetime, and that was when she had to invoke the moon to point out who their fated mate would be as was the case with Garsaw at the moment.

''Show some respect for the seer before the moon strikes you in broad daylight'', Jake, Garsaw's dad and current Alpha of the Kinetic pack barked at Garsaw angrily.

Garsaw flinched quiet. If he thought ''Moon eyes'' was too fierce to be close to, he definitely knew that his father slapping him across the room for acting a fool was a more certain occurrence, so he kept a stable demeanor, although he was still scared out of his mind.

''Let the boy come'' 'Moon eyes' said to Garsaw's parents, and Elaida ushered Garsaw to her mate Jake, who in turn ushered him to 'Moon eyes'.

Jake didn't have to say anything to Garsaw to make him keep his composure while he was with 'Moon eyes'.

The look he gave Garsaw was enough for the boy to be sober.

''Close your eyes'' 'Moon eyes' told him and started to rinse Garsaw's face with some sort of liquid that initially looked like water, but turned a clear blue as soon as it touched his face.

Suddenly, Garsaw squirmed, shaking like a fish out of water as he started to yelp frantically.

''Smirder, Smirder, what are you doing here? What the hell? Dad, mom, Smirder'', Garsaw yelled uncontrollably and ran out of the room.

Jake and Elaida, Garsaw's parents, looked at themselves and smiled.

Smirder was the name of a younger she-wolf that also belonged in the Kinetic pack.

Garsaw had just seen his mate.

''The boy is too fragile for someone that will be the Alpha soon,'' 'Moon eyes' told Jake with a look of disapproval in her glass eyes.

''I know, I'm working on it. You can rest assured that when it is time, he will not be found wanting at all,'' Jake replied to 'Moon eyes'.

Garsaw was outside his house sobbing when 'Moon eyes' stepped out of the house to walk past him, back to her shrine.

She gave Garsaw a look of disappointment when she turned to her right and saw him sitting on the front porch with his head buried in his hands.

A lot had changed for him in that couple of minutes when 'Moon eyes' performed the ritual on him, but he was too naive to see it or even bother to look deeply.

Garsaw and 'Moon eyes' stared at themselves for a couple of seconds before she eventually left.

''Come here, my handsome boy,'' Elaida went back outside to console her very afraid son.

''Mom, I saw Smirder, I saw her when I closed my eyes and the seer washed my face with that liquid potion, why did I see Smirder, mom, what's going on?'' Garsaw asked curiously.

Elaida smiled at him and asked him to go back inside the house.

''Your father wants to speak with you,'' Elaida told him.

Garsaw hurriedly got up and went to acknowledge his father's call.

''Son, first of all, I am sure you won't put me and the entire pack to shame when it is time for you to take up the leadership mantle as the Alpha of the pack. 'Moon eyes' thinks you are too fragile and naive for someone who is next in line to lead the pack, and as you can see, I am not getting any younger, so I suggest you begin to make deliberate efforts to get yourself ready for when the day presents itself; it is in that regard that we asked 'Moon eyes' to show up here to conduct that small ritual on you, you called a name several times while you were in the process, do you know the person? The Smirder person you spoke of, do you know her in person?'' Jake asked.

Garsaw nodded.

''Yes, she's Alpha Malik's daughter, I know her pretty well, dad'' Garsaw replied.

''Are you friends with her?'' Jake asked his son.

'No' Garsaw replied, shaking his head aggressively.

Alpha Jake scoffed.

''That's your future mate, son. She is your fated mate. The moon just showed you who you have been fated and bound with even before you were born. Your journey to becoming the Alpha has just begun, get to know Smirder and start to look forward to leading this pack to greater heights'', Jake told Garsaw plainly and left.
