Young entrepreneur, Victor Valentine, has married and divorced plenty of times throughout his life and even though he's 35, his relationships can't seem to last more than a year or so. Miss Halsey, a bright college graduate, can't seem to find a guy that will shake her ground by just looking at her, all the guys her age are total trash. Both of them might in a somewhat weird encounter but click, despite their age cuz "age is just a number".
*Beep, Beep, Beep*
My alarm desperately calls for my attention as I wake up from my sleep. The sun had already risen, and I remembered I had an interview for a job today that I couldn't afford to miss.
I decided to finally fix myself with some light makeup and tie my hair up in a high ponytail before putting on my suit and heading out (with around 15mins to spare before the interview).
My name is Alexandra Bouvier, but everyone just calls me Alexa. I graduated with honors from my local University, specializing in anesthesiology. The interview I'm taking is to work as anesthesiologist in a private hospital called Blue Lake.
Blue Lake was established a few years ago, but has undoubtedly grown to be one of the biggest hospital chains here in BrookStone. The owner is said to be as young as me, yet nobody has seen his face ever since he opened the first Blue Lake Hospital.
My phone buzzes on my pocket, and I pull it out to see who's texting me this early in the morning.
"Hey Al, did you reach Blue Lake Hospital yet?"
I had forgotten I'd told Miriam about the whole interview ordeal, how rude of me. Miriam was supposed to be my best friend, my sister from another mum... Jeez.
"Almost there, Hun. You waiting for me outside like we had agreed?"
Miriam worked at the hospital as a nurse. She said Doctors get all the credit, but the nurses get the satisfaction of getting the job done and interacting with the patients. It is truly admirable.
"Yes, Al! <3 I'd never miss a chance to see you and you know that. You're my guuurl!"
I chuckled as I approached the entrance of Blue Lake. The building wasn't extravagant, nor huge. It was your everyday modern hospital with an unnecessary huge parking lot. Luckily for me, it was at a walking distance from my studio, score one for Alexa.
"Alexandra!"
I heard Miriam's squeal from a mile away. She ran to me as soon as I approached the door and gave me a huge bear hug. She smelled of cigarettes, but with the time, I'd gotten used to it. She said nicotine helped her cope with the stress, and i wasn't about to tell her to give it up if she thought it was helpful.
"Gosh Miriam, i thought you wanted me alive and well... You're killing me with your hug."
I managed to wheeze out my last words before she let go of me and started escorting me into the hospital.
The smell of disinfectant spray and clean would've burned anyone's nostril hairs off. The entire hospital was spotless clean and the janitors kept passing by and verifying their respective areas every 5 minutes in order to keep it that way.
The hospital was all white and grey on the inside. White walls, grey floors and little black accentuations here and there (like vases full of flowers and such, nothing too fancy).
The first 2 floors of the hospital were basically the general hospital area and the emergency room (ER on the ground level and GH on the first floor), the third and fourth floors were the private rooms, the last two floors were the specialized offices, laboratory and radiology.
"Here we are, Al. Good luck."
Miriam had escorted me to the top floor, where the HR office was at. She then proceeded to head over to the elevator and left me to my own affairs.
I knocked three times on the door and waited for a response. Within seconds of knocking, a gentleman, seemingly in his early 30's opened the door and smiled at me.
"You must be miss Alexandra Bouvier, am I right?"
I nodded and he opened the door for me. The man offered me a seat, which i gladly took and began talking to me.
"Firstly and most importantly, my name is Victor Valentine and I'm the owner of Blue Lake Hospital. I'll be conducting your interview today."
Wait, what?!
