Chapter 1 Mated To The Devil
If a soothsayer or a witch had told me that the decision which I made in helping the princess have a fun day would turn into a case of Had I known. I would have called them fake but there I was, wishing that I would wake up from this nightmare that I had used my own hands to create.
It had been over three days since the princess left the pack and I had nobody to confide in about the situation. I dared not to raise an alarm about the issue because my life would be on the line. I spent most of my time in the temple, praying and pleading with the goddess to return the princess safe and sound.
The thought of the numerous bad things that must have happened to her actually scared me, the alpha praised me about my devotion to the goddess, if only he knew the real reason, it was all my fault.
I should not have allowed her, maybe she must have eloped with her mate or something considering the news that I was hearing about her father planning an arranged marriage with Alpha Ivan of Dark Moon pack, he was the son of the Lycan King, Alexander who rebelled against his father and formed a new pack.
I could not even understand why the alpha was willing to sell his daughter out to one of their biggest enemies, they must have threatened him and for peace to reign, he had to do it.
Although, it could only be considered as a rumor since he had not directly spoken to the princess or should I say, me about it. I reached out so many times to the princess through the medium that she had given me but it did not work.
‘’Princess Anastasia, why would you do this to me? All I wanted to do was to help.’’ I muttered as I laid flat on my bed, staring at the ceiling.
I wished that I could go back in time, I would blatantly refuse without thinking twice, some of the omegas were already raising questions about my whereabouts and I was afraid of them finding out the truth even though. I had managed to pull off this princess game quite well, considering that I have been practicing my elegance right from day one.
The knock on my door jolted me out of my deep thoughts, ‘’Who is it?’’
‘’My Lady, it is I, Diana.’’ she answered.
I instantly got back into character as she was one of them that studied body language quite well, I cleared my throat before approving her entrance, ‘’You can come in.’’
The door pushed open to reveal her, ‘’Good morning, my lady. The alpha wants to see you and breakfast is also ready.’’
‘’Thank you. Please, tell the alpha that I will join him shortly.’’ I replied with a weak smile even though I was suffering from lack of appetite.
She was about to leave when I stopped her, ‘’Have you heard anything about Isabella?’’
She shook her head in response, ‘’No, my Lady. She must have gotten tired of being a member of this pack, that was why she eloped.’’
That was not the reason and maybe, if she was not being maltreated by the other members, her life would not be horrible and I am talking about Isabella.
‘’Hmmm. Alright then, please let me if you get any information about her.’’ I ordered.
‘’Yes, my lady.’’ she responded with her head bowed.
She left shortly and I trailed behind as I braced myself for the bombshell that the alpha was about to drop on me, I got to the dining room and sat down elegantly before greeting with a warm smile, ‘’Good morning, your majesty.’’
I knew that I had to behave like his daughter other than the maid.
He replied with a broad smile on his face, ‘’Morning, my beautiful princess. How was your night?’’
‘’It was lovely. How was yours?’’ I inquired.
‘’It was fine, my darling but my morning is going to be much better.’’
The excited tone in which he spoke made me a bit worried, I just hoped that it was not what my mind was telling me.
I perked my right brow with an amused face since I was eager to know what was the reason for his sudden joy, ‘’Really?’’
‘’Yes! I have finally been able to fix an alliance between you and Alpha Ivan, he is the best out there for you.’’ he announced.
The fake smile on my face instantly vanished because I knew that I was about to bear the horrible cross that Princess Anastasia had deceived me to help her carry for about a minute.
I suddenly lost my appetite and just wanted to return back to my room, I was even scared to object, ‘’Oh.’’
‘’Yes, it is good news. Isn’t it? ’’ he asked me.
‘’To me, it is not.’’ I muttered.
I noticed as his demeanor changed, ‘’What did you just say?’’
I cleared my throat before answering his question, also making sure that I used the right words, even though Anastasia was always rude to her father due to the numerous bad decisions and changes that he imposed on her.
‘’With all due respect, your majesty. I do not want to get married to him, I do not think that he is good for me, he is not even my mate. He is a rebel, how do you expect me to be with such a man? Do you not care about my safety?’’ I questioned him, calmly with teary eyes.
‘’He is the Lycan prince and you are also royalty. You have not been able to find your mate and he has not made any attempt to look for you either and I do not want the situation whereby you will be mated to an omega, I know what is best for you and you cannot object to this, he has already accepted, alongside his father and his arrival can happen any minute.’’
Did he just say any minute?!
My brain was still processing the bombshell that he just dropped on me when I heard sounds of a trumpet announcing his arrival.
My heart started pounding out of my chest as my palms become sweaty, I even tried to ignore the big lump in my throat as the anticipation was about to eat me up.
Oh, goddess. What have I gotten myself into?
My knees were wobbly like jelly when I saw him, he was the literal definition of perfection in a Greek god’s body.
Maybe, the goddess sent her son to Earth or something.
‘’Mate.’’ my wolf, Amelia whispered.
His scent wafted up my nostrils and left me intoxicated, from his height of 6’2 compared to me that was 5’2, his eyes….
Those gray orbs held so much mystery that I was intrigued. His pointed nose was everything and he was indeed handsome. It explained a lot why most ladies ignored the rumors of his demon side and wanted to be with him so bad.
‘’We have whatever she wolf out there is dying to have.’’ Amelia pointed out.
Wait, the princess was originally supposed to be his bride, that means she would have stolen my mate away from me.
‘’Our mate is Prince Ivan, somebody please, tell me that this is not a dream because I never want to wake up from it.’’ Amelia added in a dramatic way that made me giggle.
His aura still scared me because he did not have a scowl or a frown on his handsome face, it was just blank and it made it even more worse for me to resist his offer now.
I stood up and stepped forward to officially meet him after the alpha gave me a signal to do so, I became shy under his stare as he took his time to access me before a smirk played on his lower lip, ‘’Greetings, my princess. It is an honor to finally meet a fellow royalty who suits my taste.’’
I did not know whether to be happy for this blessing or curse.
