Sophie has always hoped to become the next luna, her boyfriend chase the Alpha son had promised to make her next luna on her 18th birthday. What happened after chase found out Sophie wasn't his mate but a random girl. Will Sophie try to escape faith or will she do anything to become the next luna? Or will she find her mate?.
I felt foolish thinking that the person I loved would be my mate. It all started when Chase and I started dating. We did everything together and spent every moment together.
Most of the time, my mother would yell at me and tell me how stupid I was to think Chase would be my mate.
I stand near the window, looking at the time, waiting for Chase to arrive so he can take me to the party.
Chase was the Alpha's son, and on his eighteenth birthday, he will be able to select a mate to crown as the Luna.
I was ecstatic because if I became Luna, I wouldn't have to put up with the majority of the bullies at school.
As I saw him pull up in front of my house in his shiny SUV, a smile appeared on my face.
I dashed down the stairs and out the front door. I jumped into his car, and just as I was about to kiss him on the cheek, he pulled away.
"Why did you dress in this manner? Didn't I tell you to put on the red dress I bought for you?" I noticed the change in attitude he was displaying because he was angry because I did not put on what he asked me to.
"You do know red isn't my color, so I decided to go with blue instead," I sigh, looking at him.
He started his car and drove away, leaving me speechless and unable to respond. I ignored his attitude and concentrated on the task at hand.
"You know I hate the color blue because it makes you look like Cinderella in a movie." Chase struggled while giving me the cold shoulder.
"You know it suits me, so everyone will be able to tell who the next luna will be." As his eyes return to the road, I notice him chuckle slightly.
" Whatever you say, I'm planning to turn Cinderella into a luna tonight."
As I turn away from him, I roll my eyes. Chase never liked the color blue; he preferred red so much that he had to paint his room red. He even wanted to dye his hair red one day, but his father, Alpha, forbade him.
I watched Chase drive silently, listening to him complain about how the Dwelly clan was invited to his party. He also complained about how his father would allow such people to attend his party without his permission.
The Dwelly clan was known as a troublesome clan that only knew how to cause trouble. The Alpha of the Dwelly clan was said to be an evil and arrogant man who never treated his subjects with love but instead made them suffer.
I remained silent, not wanting to interfere with Chase's conversation; if his father, Alpha, truly invited them, I believe they would want to make peace after all.
"You don't need to worry much, Sophie. Nothing terrible will happen."
I looked at Chase and nodded, knowing that I didn't want him to have a bad day, so I kissed him on the cheek to make him feel better.
" Hope you are ready tonight. I won't want to take No for an answer." He smirked as he looked down the road.
I chuckled, unsure what to say; I knew he was joking with me, just curious about what I would say.
He finally arrived at the location, and it was nothing like I expected. I can't believe Chase's father would extend to such lengths to throw a big party for his son. I was staring at the building for so long that I didn't notice Chase walking out of the car, coming to my side, and opening the car door to let me out.
"Well, beauty, today is the day," he said as I smiled at him, and he extended his hand for me to accept. As I walked out of the car, I took his hand in mine, and he closed the door behind me, leading me inside the building.
"Hey babe, here you are" Mira yelled over the loud music.
As I walk up to Mira, I smile and kiss her on both sides of her cheeks.
"I'm so happy to see you. I didn't think you'd come," I say as I hug and smile at her.
Nothing in this world will make me miss seeing my girl's crown as the luna. There is nothing I'd rather do than watch my girl being crown." I noticed the joy in her voice, as if she, not I, were chosen to be the luna. I smiled as I saw how happy my friend was; I still can't believe she came all the way from the country to witness my coronation as Luna.
Okay, so I guess we have to see a freak become Luna, right?"
I turned around to see Stella standing behind me with that stupid smirk on her lip, and I immediately wanted to punch her.
"Well, you see, Stella, there are two types of people here: the happy one and the unhappy one."
I walked away from her, not wanting to start any discussion with a bull like her. I started scanning the whole party, looking for Chase.
" Where is he? '' I placed my hand on my head as I felt a mild headache..
"Hey babe, looking for me." I turned around, seeing Chase standing there staring at me. I smiled and ran to hug him..
"Well, you could say that," I smile while placing my head on his shoulder..
He lifted my chin up, staring at me. I noticed he started sifting through the air as if he smelled something. I followed his eyes, looking at where he was looking and I saw a girl standing there staring at him back.
He left me standing there heading towards where the girl was. I felt shocked at where I was, not believing what was happening. It was amazing to watch how he held her in his hands and pressed his lips against hers.
"This can't be happening, right?" I heard Mira whisper behind me..
I heard a chuckle behind me as I saw Stella standing there watching what was happening. I couldn't believe my eyes. Chase found his mate, and it wasn't me. I ran, holding my blue dress in my hand as my tears started running down.
