Emily Stevens was born with a strange smell. To study the situation, Emily worked hard to become a perfumer. However, a storm may arise from a clear sky. She was robbed of her job and hunted by her rival. On her way to escape, she met Tristan Weaver. Tristan was a River City bigwig. He was always averse to contact with others. But he was attracted by the scent of Emily's body. As a result, he saved Emily from the thugs. Maybe it was destiny

Chapter 1 This Might Be Her End

"Get her!"

Dark Night was the ultimate extravagant clubhouse.

In a tulle mermaid dress, Emily Stevens hastily scurried to the dazzling dance floor, shoved her way through the madding crowd, desperately broke through the encirclement, and ran for her life.

Her heart pounded with the deafening music and her stunning face was covered densely with sweat.

Her curly long hair stuck to her cheeks, which was deadly attractive to the eye.

The mermaid dress packed up her curvy body and revealed her skin. Any man would be aroused by the scene.

Emily had no idea why she was here and who sold her off to a dirty swine.

In reflex, she hit and ran!

She was exhausted by the hot pursuit. Her legs felt weak, and she couldn't make it any further.

"Quick, get that woman! Don't let her escape!" A growl came from behind.

Emily looked back. The roaches of the swine were about to catch up.

So far, she still hadn't found the exit of the large clubhouse. If she continued to run helter-skelter like this, she would be caught eventually!

"No, I need a plan to get away!" She looked around.

Her eyes suddenly landed on a statuesque figure escorted by a group of men!

Although she only saw his back, her sharp eyes captured the respect people showed to the man in the center.

Moreover, the man boasted a tough vibe, and she had reason to believe he was a bigshot.

Her eyes swiveled smartly, and she made up her mind, "Anyway, I should take a shot!"

Emily rushed over at top speed and shouted, "Hey! Worthless scum, how dare you fool around here behind my back!"

Tristan Weaver heard the yelling of a woman and involuntarily turned around.

Slap...

The sound of the smack was drowned out by the deafening music.

In the meantime, the air became frozen and so quiet people could hear their own heartbeat.

When those men saw a woman smacking their boss, their eyes almost popped out.

Holy cow, this woman was courting death!

Their boss was not a gentleman but a cruel monster. She was bold to hit such a man!

They mourned her in advance.

This woman was pretty. What a pity...

She would be torn to pieces.

Tristan darted an icy, murderous look at the woman.

His sculpted face fell. In the flickering environment, he looked as awful as Death incarnate.

Her blood froze when she met his eyes.

This man looked so ferocious and intimidating!

She really regretted it. Darn it, she would rather be caught by the swine.

She grinned sweetly and apologized, "Oops, sorry, I... I might have found the wrong person."

"Wrong person!" A mellow, deep voice came out of his mouth, but he stressed his tone fiercely.

Emily swallowed and turned to run, but those roaches had rushed up.

This might be her end.

I watched my husband sign the papers that would end our marriage while he was busy texting the woman he actually loved. He didn't even glance at the header. He just scribbled the sharp, jagged signature that had signed death warrants for half of New York, tossed the file onto the passenger seat, and tapped his screen again. "Done," he said, his voice devoid of emotion. That was Dante Moretti. The Underboss. A man who could smell a lie from a mile away but couldn't see that his wife had just handed him an annulment decree disguised beneath a stack of mundane logistics reports. For three years, I scrubbed his blood out of his shirts. I saved his family's alliance when his ex, Sofia, ran off with a civilian. In return, he treated me like furniture. He left me in the rain to save Sofia from a broken nail. He left me alone on my birthday to drink champagne on a yacht with her. He even handed me a glass of whiskey—her favorite drink—forgetting that I despised the taste. I was merely a placeholder. A ghost in my own home. So, I stopped waiting. I burned our wedding portrait in the fireplace, left my platinum ring in the ashes, and boarded a one-way flight to San Francisco. I thought I was finally free. I thought I had escaped the cage. But I underestimated Dante. When he finally opened that file weeks later and realized he had signed away his wife without looking, the Reaper didn't accept defeat. He burned down the world to find me, obsessed with reclaiming the woman he had already thrown away.

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch—a titan of industry and my best friend’s father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.

I spent four hours preparing a five-course meal for our fifth anniversary. When Jackson finally walked into the penthouse an hour late, he didn't even look at the table. He just dropped a thick Manila envelope in front of me and told me he was done. He said his stepsister, Davida, was getting worse and needed "stability." I wasn't his wife; I was a placeholder, a temporary fix he used until the woman he actually loved was ready to take my place. Jackson didn't just want a divorce; he wanted to erase me. He called me a "proprietary asset," claiming that every design I had created to save his empire belonged to him. He froze my bank accounts, cut off my phone, and told me I’d be nothing without his name. Davida even called me from her hospital bed to flaunt the family heirloom ring Jackson claimed was lost, mocking me for being "baggage" that was finally being cleared out. I stood in our empty home, realizing I had spent five years being a martyr for a man who saw me as a transaction. I couldn't understand how he could be so blind to the monster he was protecting, or how he could discard me so coldly after I had given him everything. I grabbed my hidden sketchbook, shredded our wedding portrait, and walked out into the rain. I dialed a number I hadn't touched in years—a dangerous man known as The Surgeon who dealt in debts and shadows. I told him I was ready to pay his price. Jackson and Davida wanted to steal my identity, but I was about to show the world the literal scars they had left behind.
