Chapter 1 She Wasted Her Good Card

Jonesboro No.1 Hospital.

Margot Horn abruptly lifted her eyelids before a smear of green light came into view. The pungent smell of disinfectant in the air reminded her that she was in a hospital.

She couldn't remember how many times she woke up to smell it.

She stared blankly at the ceiling, took in the new information, and sighed in a moment, "Alas, she wasted her good cards."

The host had fair skin, a pretty face, long legs, and a wealthy family. Such a person should be admired by everyone but became an object of hatred. The dramatic change happened because of her fooleries.

She naively believed in someone who then framed her. Utterly discredited, she was given up by her family.

She had a breakdown and leaped to her death.

Margot sighed silently again and started to think about ways to help the host redeem everything.

The Horns had given up on the host but still cared about their blood. Right after she jumped off the building, they sent her to the hospital and arranged a VIP ward for her, though no one came to visit her.

During her one-month hospitalization, only three nursing workers kept her company.

Margot was discharged from the hospital today. Her good mood was not affected by the fact that no one came to pick her up.

Humming a song, she rocked back and forth as she walked outside. Before she could embrace the brilliant sunshine, a bunch of doctors and nurses hurriedly pushed over a stretcher.

She drew back her open arms and stepped aside before the stretcher went past. All of a sudden, she covered her chest and knitted her brow.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw something red. It was a bloodstain still wet on the floor. She stared at it as her expression went blank.

Noticing her pale face and sickness, the nursing worker asked with concern, "Miss Horn, are you alright?"

Margot snapped out of the trance, waved her hand, turned back, and looked at the patient on the stretcher with gloomy eyes. Her fists clenched as she intended to follow them.

"Margot." Someone suddenly called out softly from behind.

The voice resembled that of her queen mother. Margot froze, abruptly turned back, and saw a noblewoman coming up with a complicated expression.

As she stared blankly at the woman, the latter claimed, "Margot, I'm here to take you home."

When the woman came closer, she suddenly stepped forward and held her, "Qu… mother…"

This woman was the mother of the host and looked like her queen mother.

Margot couldn't remember how many times she had been reborn, but none of those she met resembled her parents or loved ones.

"Margot, um..."

The woman was flabbergasted by the sudden hug. Her daughter had been more and more capricious in the past few years. One year ago, she cut all ties with them and moved out alone.

And now, the girl suddenly held her…

Her queen mother's doppelganger was the mother of the host. To get close to this woman, she had to make amends. This was the only way. Margot tried her best to restrain her emotions, took a deep breath, let go of her mother, took three steps back, and then bowed deeply, "Mom, I'm sorry I was willful and ignorant. I shouldn't have broken the hearts of my father, my brothers, and you. I was wrong."
