"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned!" The first thing Brenda did after divorcing Miguel was to seduce his arch-rival and become his fiancée. Miguel couldn't catch a break from her constant taunting. While she came at him for everything he got, her secret identities were exposed one after the other. She's the world's most famous pianist? Miguel was shocked to the bone to find out that he didn't know all these about her before now. Brenda wasn't a leech like he always thought. She was his dream woman. Could he get her back? Unbeknown to Miguel, another shocker was waiting for him...

Chapter 1 Divorce

When Brenda Sanchez left the court, she had two divorce certificates in her hands. However, she was unusually calm.

They had been married for more than three years. Was she sad about the divorce?

Of course, she was. But there was more relief.

Her ex-husband, Miguel Hamilton, didn't love her. Even when he drank too much last night and made love to her for the first time, the name he called was the one of another woman.

Suppressing her depression, Brenda stood by the side of the road and hailed a taxi. After a while, a black Rolls-Royce pulled up in front of her. Through the half-open window, she saw the cold eyes of a handsome man sitting in the driver's seat.

Rich and charming-the perfect description of Miguel.

"The hospital has issued another critical illness notice for Veronica. Come with me to the hospital," he said indifferently after sparing her a glance.

Veronica Ballard. It was that name again!

Even if they had divorced, that name was still bothering her.

"What if I refuse, Mr. Hamilton?" Her voice was soft, but Brenda was no longer as obedient as before.

Miguel frowned. This woman, who used to listen to him, was now blatantly defying him on the first day of their divorce.

Slowly, he raised his cold eyes and stared at her. "Have you forgotten about the current situation of your family? Or do you need me to remind you of the person who caused the car accident that made Veronica injured?"

Brenda's heart sank. She didn't care if her family was going bankrupt, but she wouldn't forget about the car accident three years ago.

At that time, her younger brother, Victor Sanchez, had been in the car with Veronica for some reason. After the accident, Veronica was seriously injured, and Victor didn't want to explain anything about it. Not surprisingly, he was charged with aggravated assault. So at the moment, he was still in prison.

There was one more month left before he would be released.

"If you want Victor to stay longer in prison..." Miguel's eyes darkened as if he was implying something serious would happen.

Brenda was defeated by him with just a few words.

"Fine, I'll go."

She clenched her fists and took a deep breath. Expressionless, she opened the back seat door and got in.

Miguel drove his car to the hospital at a fast speed. It wasn't hard to tell that he cared a lot about Veronica.

Brenda squeezed her palms so hard that blood oozed out of them.

When the car stopped at the gate of the hospital, Brenda got out and slammed the door hard. Lifting her head, she met Miguel's stare and said, "But this is going to be the last time."

Miguel's dark eyes were as cold as ice. He looked at her receding petite body. He was surprised that this docile kitten had suddenly shown her claws and bared her teeth.

After the blood donation, Brenda clutched her arm; her face was pale. She had anemia and was afraid of blood, but she had never told anyone about this.

Back then, her parents, Louis Sanchez and Penelope Sanchez, knelt before her and begged her to save Victor. They said her blood was Rh-negative. As long as she was willing to donate her blood to Veronica, Victor would definitely be saved.

Brenda didn't have a good relationship with her parents. They cared about her brother more than her. However, Victor treated her well. She had once encountered a bully at school. He kept her behind him and protected her like an adult. "Brenda, you go first. I'm not afraid of them!"

By the time she got help and went back to the alley, he was already lying there covered in blood.

Because of this, Penelope beat her hard with a belt.

For the sake of Victor, Brenda agreed to donate her blood to Veronica. But she had one additional request, and it was to marry Miguel. The reason was simple. She loved him deeply and had always buried her feelings for him in the depths of her heart.

Soon, she arrived at Ward 402. The patient's name, Veronica Ballard, was displayed on the door. After pausing for a second, she turned the doorknob.

Although the woman on the bed was having an infusion, her face wasn't wan. She didn't look like someone who was seriously ill.

"Why are you here? Where is Miguel?" she asked in an unfriendly tone.

"Your Miguel loves you so much. Why are you afraid that he will run away?" Taking a few steps closer, Brenda took out the divorce certificate from her bag and showed it to her. "Veronica, I have divorced him. This is the last time I donate my blood to you. From now on, it has nothing to do with me or Victor whether you are alive or dead."

I watched my husband sign the papers that would end our marriage while he was busy texting the woman he actually loved. He didn't even glance at the header. He just scribbled the sharp, jagged signature that had signed death warrants for half of New York, tossed the file onto the passenger seat, and tapped his screen again. "Done," he said, his voice devoid of emotion. That was Dante Moretti. The Underboss. A man who could smell a lie from a mile away but couldn't see that his wife had just handed him an annulment decree disguised beneath a stack of mundane logistics reports. For three years, I scrubbed his blood out of his shirts. I saved his family's alliance when his ex, Sofia, ran off with a civilian. In return, he treated me like furniture. He left me in the rain to save Sofia from a broken nail. He left me alone on my birthday to drink champagne on a yacht with her. He even handed me a glass of whiskey—her favorite drink—forgetting that I despised the taste. I was merely a placeholder. A ghost in my own home. So, I stopped waiting. I burned our wedding portrait in the fireplace, left my platinum ring in the ashes, and boarded a one-way flight to San Francisco. I thought I was finally free. I thought I had escaped the cage. But I underestimated Dante. When he finally opened that file weeks later and realized he had signed away his wife without looking, the Reaper didn't accept defeat. He burned down the world to find me, obsessed with reclaiming the woman he had already thrown away.

Nicole had entered marriage with Walter, a man who never returned her feelings, bound to him through an arrangement made by their families rather than by choice. Even so, she had held onto the quiet belief that time might soften his heart and that one day he would learn to love her. However, that day never came. Instead, he treated her with constant contempt, tearing her down with cruel words and dismissing her as fat and manipulative whenever it suited him. After two years of a cold and distant marriage, Walter demanded a divorce, delivering his decision in the most degrading manner he could manage. Stripped of her dignity and exhausted by the humiliation, Nicole agreed to her friend Brenda's plan to make him see what he had lost. The idea was simple but daring. She would use another man to prove that the woman Walter had mocked and insulted could still be desired by someone else. All they had to do was hire a gigolo. Patrick had endured one romantic disappointment after another. Every woman he had been involved with had been drawn not to him, but to his wealth. As one of the heirs to a powerful and influential family, he had long accepted that this pattern was almost unavoidable. What Patrick wanted was far more difficult to find. He longed to fall in love with a woman who cared for him as a person, not for the name he carried or the fortune attached to it. One night, while he was at a bar, an attractive stranger approached him. Because of his appearance and composed demeanor, she mistook him for a gigolo. She made an unconventional proposal, one that immediately caught his interest and proved impossible for him to refuse.

I was finally brought back to the billionaire Vance estate after years in the grimy foster system, but the luxury Lincoln felt more like a funeral procession. My biological family didn't welcome me with open arms; they looked at me like a stain on a silk shirt. They thought I was a "defective" mute with cognitive delays, a spare part to be traded away. Within hours of my arrival, my father decided to sell me to Julian Thorne, a bitter, paralyzed heir, just to secure a corporate merger. My sister Tiffany treated me like trash, whispering for me to "go back to the gutter" before pouring red wine over my dress in front of Manhattan's elite. When a drunk cousin tried to lay hands on me at the engagement gala, my grandmother didn't protect me-she raised her silver-topped cane to strike my face for "embarrassing the family." They called me a sacrificial lamb, laughing as they signed the prenuptial agreement that stripped me of my freedom. They had no idea I was E-11, the underground hacker-artist the world was obsessed with, or that I had already breached their private servers. I found the hidden medical records-blood types A, A, and B-a biological impossibility that proved my "parents" were harboring a scandal that could ruin them. Why bring me back just to discard me again? And why was Julian Thorne, the man supposedly bound to a wheelchair, secretly running miles at dawn on his private estate? Standing in the middle of the ballroom, I didn't plead for mercy. I used a text-to-speech app to broadcast a cold, synthetic threat: "I have the records, Richard. Do you want me to explain genetics to the press, or should we leave quietly?" With the "paralyzed" billionaire as my unexpected accomplice, I walked out of the Vance house and into a much more dangerous game.

I was sitting in the Presidential Suite of The Pierre, wearing a Vera Wang gown worth more than most people earn in a decade. It was supposed to be the wedding of the century, the final move to merge two of Manhattan's most powerful empires. Then my phone buzzed. It was an Instagram Story from my fiancé, Jameson. He was at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris with a caption that read: "Fuck the chains. Chasing freedom." He hadn't just gotten cold feet; he had abandoned me at the altar to run across the world. My father didn't come in to comfort me. He burst through the door roaring about a lost acquisition deal, telling me the Holland Group would strip our family for parts if the ceremony didn't happen by noon. My stepmother wailed about us becoming the laughingstock of the Upper East Side. The Holland PR director even suggested I fake a "panic attack" to make myself look weak and sympathetic to save their stock price. Then Jameson’s sleazy cousin, Pierce, walked in with a lopsided grin, offering to "step in" and marry me just to get his hands on my assets. I looked at them and realized I wasn't a daughter or a bride to anyone in that room. I was a failed asset, a bouncing check, a girl whose own father told her to go to Paris and "beg" the man who had just publicly humiliated her. The girl who wanted to be loved died in that mirror. I realized that if I was going to be sold to save a merger, I was going to sell myself to the one who actually controlled the money. I marched past my parents and walked straight into the VIP holding room. I looked the most powerful man in the room—Jameson’s cold, ruthless uncle, Fletcher Holland—dead in the eye and threw the iPad on the table. "Jameson is gone," I said, my voice as hard as stone. "Marry me instead."
