Her Sweet Revenge. Chapter 1 The Betryal Of A Friend

Kathlia's pov

It's already evening, but he's still not home. He's probably at his friend's house again, drinking with different women. I don't know why he's so excessively angry with me. I haven't done anything wrong. I find myself at home almost every day because he forbids me from going out to meet my friends. I let it be because he might beat me if I insist.

Even when I went to the mall with Manang, I couldn't go inside. Maybe I went to the mall with Manang only once to buy groceries for our home.

But I stayed inside the car then. Manang went inside the mall to buy the groceries we needed.

Max wasn't like this before I don't know why he suddenly changed, even his behavior towards me has changed. He's always angry when he sees my face.

I just let him do whatever he wants to me. Even if he beats me every day it's okay because I love him.

So, I have to endure it because I don't want him to leave my life. Even if I have to swallow my pride, it's okay. Manang arrived interrupting my thoughts.

"Eat this food and soup I prepared because it might get cold. It's raining, and the weather is bad," Manang said while placing the food on my table.

"Thank you Manang. By the way didn't Max call you to say what time he'll be home?" I asked while sipping the hot soup.

"No, but don't worry I'll let you know as soon as he calls," Manang replied with a smile.

"Are your bruises okay now, Kath?" Manang suddenly asked making me sad. Manang is the first person who sees me when Max hurts me. He gets angry because I don't do what he wants, especially when he's drunk and wants something to happen between us.

"I'm okay now Manang." I said.

"By the way have you eaten?" I asked Manang.

"I'll eat later after you finish Kath. I'll leave you now I have something to do in the kitchen."She said before heading to the kitchen.

"Is Kira here?" I asked my two friends Ziggy and Tristan.

"No she's not here yet bro."Tristan replied.

"Maybe she's busy right Ziggy?" Tristan added

"Or maybe there's traffic she'll come just wait."

Ugh! I miss her so much even though we see each other every day at the office I can't help but miss her. "Don't you know that Kathlia and Kira are friends? What if she finds out about this that her friend and her husband are having an affair?" I said seriously to Max.

"I don't care about her anymore." He replied without enthusiasm.

"Okay, you said. Tristan said seriously while looking at me.

Shit! The brat called so I answered it. "Hello, friend."Kathlia said on the other end of the phone. She's never been my friend, and now I'm acting friendly to her on the phone.

"Yes Kath?" I said without much interest. "Do you know where Max is?" Do I look like someone who searches for missing husbands, Kathlia? I said annoyed.

"What did you say, Kira? I didn't hear what you said." I asked confusedly.

"I don't know where your husband is, Kath. So if I were you, I'd sleep instead of waiting for him; he'll come home when he wants. Okay, I'll hang up now, bye," I said and turned off the phone. Poor Kathlia doesn't know that Max and I have an affair. Who cares as long as Max and I love each other, that's enough. I'm planning to ruin their relationship, and my plan worked in separating them. It's easy to manipulate Max in my hands. I'm on my way to Max's friend's house he's been waiting for me there.

"Goodbye Kira," I said and placed my phone beside my pillow.

I'm really getting used to my friend Kira; it seems like she's hiding something from me

Kathlia's pov...

After eating, I hurriedly went to my room and listened to my favorite songs. Maybe I'll just wait until sleep visits me.

I don't have anything else to do at home. He strictly prohibits me from leaving the house, so I can only hang out by the swimming pool area near our garden. I can only go out on school days. Max never goes to my school because he's busy with work. But in my previous school he used to drop me off and pick me up. But that was in the past; he changed, and he doesn't do those things anymore.

"What time do you plan to come home, Max?" Tristan asked me. "Why, are you sending me home already?" I replied looking at him seriously.

"I'm just asking." He answered shortly.

"I'll go home whenever I want," I said again. "Okay, whatever you say. I'm just worried that your wife, Kath, might be looking for you now." Tristan said without enthusiasm. So I just looked at him as if I didn't care about what he was saying.

"I don't care about that woman. I'm here to meet Kira, right? So can you stop mentioning that woman's name? because it only annoys me more. I said angrily to Tristan, who is now looking at me seriously.

"Kira has really taken over your system, Max. Because you weren't like this before. You used to treat Kathlia like a queen. It seems like you've really changed." Tristan said firmly.

"What do you really want to imply, huh? That it's all my fault why I woke up one day and don't love her anymore?" I said angrily to Tristan.

"I just want you to tell her the truth, Max, not like this, making people look foolish!" Tristan said seriously while sitting and looking at me.

"I already told you I just woke up one day and realized I don't love her anymore! That's it, Tristan! So stop bothering me please if you still want us to be friends." I said seriously to him while raising my eyebrows.

I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband's Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn't find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn't even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father's legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn's party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara's health and managing every detail of Caden's empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I'd drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause-if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I'd forgotten.

He Thought I Was A Doormat, Until I Ruined Him

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.

The Discarded Heiress: Marrying My Lethal Husband

The rain in Detroit was slick with grime when my family finally came to fetch me. They didn't want a reunion; they wanted a sacrificial lamb to marry into the Kaufman empire to save their failing business. I thought I was just being sold off, but the limo ride ended under a dark overpass where six hired thugs were waiting with chains. My own sister had ordered them to "break my spirit" so I’d be a shaking, pathetic mess by the time I reached the altar. They called me "Detroit trash" and sprayed air freshener when I sat on their leather seats. My stepmother wanted a video of me begging for my life, and my father was ready to trade me like a used car to a man everyone called a "vegetable." They expected a submissive country girl, unaware that I was a high-level "cleaner" who could snap a radius bone before they could even scream. When I finally reached the Kaufman estate, I found my fiancé, Barron, slumped in a wheelchair, drooling and silent. But as soon as the doors closed, the "invalid" grabbed my wrist with a grip of iron and whispered a command that changed everything. I didn't understand why my own blood was so desperate to see me destroyed. What had I ever done to deserve a hit squad and a forced marriage to a man they thought was a corpse? But Barron isn't a vegetable, and I'm not a victim. We just touched down at the Moon family gala in a matte-black helicopter, and as the doors slide open, the "broken" bride is about to show them exactly what happens when you throw away the wrong daughter. "If we're going to crash a party," Barron whispered, his eyes burning with lethal clarity, "we should make an entrance."
