So in love Chapter 1 Giving a job

"Good morning carl." Her mother said touching her head.

"Good morning my love." She said.

" Mother, Mother why do I have to wake now? " Carl asked.

Her mother smiled.

"You have to get up now for work." Her mother said.

" Mother I don't want to go out now meanwhile I have something to do."

" Why do you want to stay home today? " Her Mum asked.

" No mum, I have other things to do. " Carl said.

" Things like what?" Her mother asked.

" I have some things to do, I need to see my boss. " Carl said.

" Boss, why do you have to see your boss now?" Her mother asked.

" Something delicate."

" What is delicate that you can not speak with your boss at work?" Her mother asked.

Carl smiled and hugged her mother.

" Mother, it isn't actually that and I do not mean my boss at the office. " Carl said.

" So, may I know your other boss? " Her mother asked.

Carl gave her mother a peck on the cheek then smiled.

" I really am grateful for how you take care of me along with Dad. I am very grateful for your lessons. You taught me how not to depend on your wealth but to build myself into what I want to become." She said and paused smiling.

"My darling." Her mother said.

Carl couldn't help but laugh.

"I do not need that job at all. I am now my own boss, Mum." She said.

"What do you mean my dear?" Her mother asked.

Carl smiled and crossed her legs as she sat on the bed.

"Yes mother I am my own boss." Carl said. "I own my business."

"Can I know when you started your business?" Her mother asked.

"Two years ago." Carl said.

"You started building your business while you were working?" Her mother asked.

"Yes Mother." She answered smiling. "Moreover how is Grandfather doing in Africa. Have you heard from him."

"Yes dear. He is fine." Her mother answered.

Carl smiled looking at her mother.

"Is there anything you will like me to do for you?" Her mother asked and Carl smiled.

"Yes Mum." She said.

"What would you like me to do?" Her mother asked.

"Accept what I have to say." She answered.

"Yes I definitely will." Her mother said.

"I want to get myself a house to live." Carl said surprising her mother.

"You have this whole mansion to yourself. We aren't usually in the mansion so why would you choose to live elsewhere?" Her mother asked.

"I just want to be independent, Mum. I am 23 now and I want to be independent." She said.

"Alright, I can't turn back on my promise." Her mother said and Carl hugged her.

"Thank you Mum." Carl said hugging her mother.

Minutes later, her mother cleared her throat.

"We are going to look for the best mansion for you." Her mother said but Carl smiled and shook her head.

"No mother, you are doing none of such. I am going to invite you and Dad to my house after organizing it." Carl said.

"Alright dear." Her mother said.

Her mother was so happy. She looked around as she remembered the way she along with her husband had brought Carl up.

She smiled and looked at Carl.

" Alright, I would be going." She said and Carl nodded her head as she watched her mother leave her room.

Few minutes later, Carl phone started buzzing.

She picked her phone up and smiled seeing that the call was from one of her client.

She answered the call and accepted the offer.

She got up from the bed and went to her closet.

She selected a jean and a floppy top from her closet then put on the top and jeans.

Minutes later, she went to the mirror side. She sat down on the chair beside the mirror and looked into it.

She packed her hair and smiled looking at the mirror.

"I guess I am great." She said and got up to her feet.

She applied some moisture relief to her lip and rubbed it before leaving the room.

"Where are you off to, Carl?" Her mother asked and she smiled.

"A client of mine wants his job to be done." Carl said.

"What client?" Her mother asked and all Carl could do is to give her a peck.

"I have to go give my workers what they are to do." She said and her mother took in a deep breath.

"You can put a call to one of them, instructing him or her on what to do." Her mother said.

"I know mother but I have to be an example to my workers." She said making her mother smile.

"I am proud of who my daughter has become." Her mother said.

Carl smiled then left the house.

She walked to her fashion house and looked around. A smile crossed her face as she remembered how she started her business.

This isn't her only business as she has a bag making business where she had employed twenty ladies with two guys.

She already has a bodyguard who follows her anytime she is at work.

She smiled turning to the bodyguard then nodded her head.

She walked into a room where she was to relax and her bodyguard stood out of the room.

Minutes after, she stepped out of the room and made an announcement to the person she had put in charge of the workers.

She gave her instructions and went into her office.

Her bodyguard sat out of the office as he was to alert her whenever anyone wanted to enter her office.

Few minutes later, the lady she spoke to before going into her office walked into her office with a proposal of how she would like the design to look.

"Wow, this is really pretty. I hope the client will like the design." Carl said after looking at the design that was in front of her.

"She is going to like the design ma'am. Do not worry. We haven't failed you and will never fail you." The lady said and Carl nodded her head.

The lady walked out of the office and Carl placed her head on the table.

Minutes later, she heard her body guard speaking to a lady.

" You can't enter, ma. " Her bodyguard said.

" Please, I just need to see your boss for a job. I heard she is here." The lady pleaded.

"You can't." The bodyguard said.

"I really need a job." The lady pleaded.

Carl shook her head and smiled.

"He is really doing his duty." She said to herself then pressed her alert button.

"Let her come in." She said and the bodyguard allowed the lady enter.

Carl stared at the lady immediately she saw her.

She was really beautiful but was poorly dressed.

"Have your sit." Carl said and the lady sat on the chair in front of Carl.

"May I know your reason for being here?" Carl asked.

"I need a job, Miss." The lady said.

Carl looked at the lady and smiled.

What can a lady who is poorly dressed help her business.

"What will you like to do here?" Carl decided to ask.

"I can design your clothes." The lady said and Carl smiled.

"Why will you want to do that?" Carl asked and the lady sniffled.

She understood the reason Carl was asking that question from her. Her dressing!

"I learnt the art of fashion in college and worked in a small fashion industry before my family became wretched." She said.

Carl looked at her and smiled.

"So you became wretched?" Carl asked.

"Yes, we are. We can't afford a meal. We depend on people. We had to sell all our fanciful things in order to live but we have exhausted all we have for the past four months. My mother is sick and about to die. I had been coming here in search of a job but I was always sent away. " The lady said

Carl looked at the lady as she felt pity for her.

" Alright, What is your name? " She asked the lady.

" My name is Clara. " The lady said and Carl smiled.

Carl told her to come the next day as she will be given the job.

Clara was so happy. She thanked Carl and happily left the office.

"Mom always says, we should help others so that we can grow more." Carl said to herself smiling.

She walked out of her office and her bodyguard followed her.

She walked to the lady in charge of all workers.

"By tomorrow, a member is going to be added." She said and they all clapped.

I went to the City Clerk’s office for a routine copy of my marriage license to finalize a trust fund audit. I expected a simple piece of paper, but the clerk’s pitying look told me my entire life was a lie. "The license was never finalized, Ms. Oliver. In the eyes of the state, you are single." The three-hundred-guest wedding at the Plaza and the Vogue features meant nothing. My husband, Gray Cooley, had intentionally filed the documents with a "procedural defect" so he could discard me without a legal divorce. Moments later, an iCloud invite titled "Our Little Secret" popped up on my screen. It was a photo of my best friend, Brylee, holding a positive pregnancy test at our Hamptons estate. Gray’s text to her was the final blow: "Happy anniversary, babe. This baby is the best gift. Once the trust unlocks today, we’re done with the charade." I soon discovered they were even stealing my career, reassigning my architectural masterpiece to Brylee while preparing my eviction notice. Gray's mother called me a "barren mule" in a leaked recording, mocking the infertility I suffered after saving Gray’s life in a construction accident. I wasn't a wife; I was a three-year placeholder used to secure his inheritance. How could the man I bled for treat me like a disposable prop? How could my best friend carry his child while pretending to comfort me through my darkest moments? The betrayal burned until it turned into a cold, hard stone of fury. I didn't cry. Instead, I walked into the penthouse of the Barretts, the Cooleys' most powerful rivals. I signed a marriage contract with Kane Barrett, the man the tabloids called the "Beast of Wall Street." "I want a wedding," I told his father, my voice steady and lethal. "Bigger than the one I had with Gray." If they wanted me gone, they would have to watch me become the woman who owns their world.

Six years ago, I was a naive girl sold by my father to the powerful Sanders estate, only to be tossed onto the streets after a brutal assault they labeled "marital infidelity." I fled the country pregnant and broken, hiding from the shadow of a husband I had never even met. Now, I’ve returned to New York with my triplets to sign the final divorce papers and disappear forever. But Archibald Sanders—the man I was told was a crippled recluse—intercepted us with the cold precision of a predator. He didn't see the woman his family destroyed; he saw a gold-digger who had shamed his name. His security team hunted us to a grimy motel, using tactical force to snatch my children away and drag me to his glass-walled empire. In his office, he loomed over me, demanding a DNA test and threatening to throw me in prison while my babies were lost to the foster system. He was convinced I’d cheated, yet he stared at my sons with a haunting confusion, unable to ignore the stormy blue eyes that were a perfect mirror of his own. I stood there, paralyzed by his scent—the sharp tang of rain and expensive leather that triggered the icy dread of my worst nightmares. How could he accuse me of betrayal when he felt exactly like the monster who had shattered my life in that dark hotel room? "I'll sign anything," I sobbed, "just give me my kids." But the game changed when my five-year-old son hacked the tower’s security, holding the skyscraper hostage to save me. In the chaos, a fragile, silent boy—Archibald’s secret son—wandered into the room and reached for me as if I were his missing soul. Archibald’s face turned to stone as he tore up the agreement and locked the doors. "Until I find out why my son is looking at you like that," he growled, "you aren't going anywhere."

One Night With My Billionaire Boss

I woke up on silk sheets that smelled of expensive cedar and cold sandalwood, a world away from my cramped apartment in Brooklyn. Beside me lay Ezra Gardner—my boss, the billionaire CEO of Gardner Holdings, and the man who could end my career with a snap of his fingers. He didn’t offer an apology for the night before; instead, he looked at me with terrifying clarity and proposed a cold, calculated business arrangement. "Marriage. It stabilizes the board and solves the PR crisis before it begins." He dressed me in archival Chanel and sent me home in his Maybach, but my life was already falling apart. My boyfriend, Irving, claimed he had passed out early, yet his location data placed him at my best friend’s apartment until three in the morning. When I tried to run, I realized Ezra was already ten steps ahead, tracking my movements and uncovering the secret I’d spent twenty years hiding: my connection to the powerful Senator Grimes. I was trapped between a CEO who treated me like a line item on a quarterly report and a boyfriend who had been using me while sleeping with my closest friend. I felt like a pawn in a game I didn't understand, wondering why a man like Ezra would walk up forty flights of stairs on a broken leg just to make sure I was safe. "Showtime, Mrs. Gardner." Standing on the red carpet in a gown that cost more than my life, I watched my cheating ex-boyfriend’s face turn pale as Ezra claimed me in front of the world. I wasn't just an assistant anymore; I was a weapon, and it was time to burn their world down.

For two years, I was the invisible force behind tech billionaire Kieran Douglas, convinced that our "private" romance was his way of protecting us from the tabloid spotlight. I managed his mergers, warmed his bed, and waited for a future that didn't exist. The illusion shattered at 6:00 AM when a Page Six alert debuted Kieran’s "real" romance with socialite Aspen Schneider. Before I could even process the betrayal, Kieran sent me a cold, professional text: "Order flowers for Aspen. Pink peonies. Her favorite." When I tried to walk away, my own mother called me a disgrace and threatened to lock my inheritance forever unless I married a sixty-year-old businessman to save her failing estate. At a high-society gala that same night, Aspen intentionally crushed my burned hand in front of the cameras, while Kieran stood by and dismissed me as a "mediocre assistant" who had overstayed her welcome. I stood in the cold New York rain, drenched in champagne and humiliation, realizing that every sacrifice I made for Kieran was a joke. I was a ghost in a penthouse that was never mine, discarded the moment his "soulmate" returned. To the world, I was just a placeholder whose time had run out. But Kieran forgot one thing: my father’s multi-million dollar trust fund unlocks the moment I legally marry. I didn't need love; I needed a signature and a shield. I walked into a discreet law firm and signed a marriage contract with a man I believed was the city’s most notorious, scandal-ridden playboy. I thought I was marrying a degenerate "beard" to buy my freedom and secure my revenge. I didn't realize the man who signed that paper wasn't a playboy at all, but Gaston Collins—the most powerful and dangerous man on Wall Street—and he had no intention of letting our fake marriage stay fake.
