Twilight is a strong-willed she-wolf who is content with her life as an Alpha and raising her ex-mate's pup without him. Her world is turned upside down when he finds out, and even more so when she discovers they still have a bond. While trying to fight the pull of the bond, she crosses paths with an unmated alpha and persuades him to agree to a secret contract marriage. But Twilight has another secret: she didn't marry him for the benefit of both packs. She married him with plans to take his pack for herself and would go to any lengths to get what she wants. As she spends more time with him, she begins to see him in a new light. He is kind, gentle, and everything she had hoped for in a mate. She begins to question her motives for marrying him but is hesitant to get involved with him out of fear of getting hurt again. Unfortunately for her, her husband begins losing interest in the benefits of their marriage and yearns for her affection. Twilight's choices are complicated by the fact that she is a werewolf. In her world, mates are chosen by the Moon Goddess, and they are meant to be together forever. But what if the Moon Goddess has made a mistake? Will she take a chance on her old life with Takumi or choose the excitement of a new beginning with her mystery husband? Or neither? Find out in this story full of love, loss, and redemption that will keep you guessing until the very end. TRIGGER WARNING: There might be a sensitive topic or two.

Chapter 1 Prologue

Third-person POV

Three years have passed since Twilight had last seen Takumi. It was bad enough that she was hurt by her mate. Again. But this time, someone decided that her life wasn't enough of a mess, and she was pregnant.

In the end, she decided to keep it, which wasn't a bad thing per se because sooner or later, she'd need an heir, which saved her the trouble of IVF rounds. Plus, she highly doubted that she'd be blessed with a third mate to have pups with because things are supposed to work with the first or second mate. She also wasn't keen on being blessed with another one either. And as ridiculous as it sounds, Tis also gave up on the idea of a mate and she was inactive for a whole month. All the poor wolf wanted more than anything was a mate, not an arm and a leg.

She didn't tell anyone the whole story. She had only said that things between them didn't work out and that it just wasn't meant to be. The only person who knew was Mitsuri, and she promised not to tell. Her dad too and Etsuko, being an Oracle and all.

She loves her pack and all, but she found it a tiny bit irritating receiving all that sympathy, more so from the she-wolves. She appreciated the support, but she wasn't one to look for sympathy from others.

Her dad and friends helped her throughout the entire pregnancy, and after 28 more weeks, the pup was born. As much as she was born three weeks early, she was a healthy baby.

And yes, the pup is a girl. A sweet, adorable, little angel who, unfortunately, got her looks from her father, except for her eyes and hair. The sort of relieving thing was that her hair was black, so at least, she'll feel less out of place later on. Twilight named her Natsumi, and as for Youhei's pup, he came about two months later.

After a while, Mitsuri tried hooking her up with other guys because she didn't have a mark and that technically made her an unmated wolf. But she turned every one of them down without hesitation.

And no, she didn't tell him that he's a father. She also made Ichiya swear on his life that he wouldn't say anything, which Etsuko wasn't too happy about when she found out. His parents do know though, but only because she decided to tell them a few weeks before she was born. She figured that they, at least, should know, and they do come over from time to time. They promised to keep it a secret even though they tried to convince her otherwise a few times.

She was and still is completely fine with coming across as being bitter. She was doing fine as a single parent and determined to keep it that way.

Born of Alpha bloodline, Twilight is destined to succeed her father in ruling the Silver Dragon Pack. The young, free-spirited alpha female is the strongest warrior in the pack, surpassing even her own father, and never cared about whether or not she would find her mate. Until the day she found him, the young Alpha-to-be of a neighbouring pack. Only to have him reject her for his bed buddy. Enraged and broken-hearted, she ran away and got severely injured along the way. Suddenly, she woke up in an unfamiliar place, only to find that her second-chance mate, Takumi, saved her. But her now cold-hearted self refuses to accept another mate but he won't give up that easily. Can Takumi win the Alpha's heart? Here’s a little sneak peek: “Imagine the one person who was literally made for you, supposed to be your other half and complete you in a way that no one else can and yet wants nothing to do with you. I’m over it, but I still feel like a monster for how I reacted to it. I know it happened a long time ago, but I still hate myself for it. His dad said it was ok, but I think he only said it to make me feel less guilty and deep down he hates me. And I'm pretty sure everyone else feels the same way.” It was then that she felt a little wetness on her face; she didn't realize that tears were streaming down her cheeks the whole time. That's when she broke down into more tears. Takumi pulled her into a hug. “I'm sure no one hates you.” “You don't hate me?” She asked between sobs. “How can I hate the girl I love? Especially when she's like this.” “You love me?” “Wasn't it obvious?” “Not really. I mean, you flirt and then joke about it. You make suggestive and sexual moves on me and then act as if they don't mean anything and you always use the terms ‘friends’ and ‘roommates’ whenever you refer to our relationship, so I went with it. If anything, you've been sending me mixed messages and it's very confusing.” “Sorry if I've been confusing and I'll make it clear this time. I love you.”
