Chapter 1 One Night stand gone wrong

Anaya Singhania POV

I woke up happily seeing the sunlight coming into the room. I was still feeling a bit tired perhaps had gotten a bit too drunk again last night...

I was getting up when I felt a weight on my belly. Within seconds I figured it was somebody's arm. I immediately got up.

I couldn't see his face but a man was sleeping next to me. I shook my head.

"Not again Anaya."

After I broke up with my Ex I started getting drunk and sleeping with random guys. It was the third guy with whom I might have done a one-night stand but strangely I don't remember a damn thing just like always.

I have to pretend that it was fun and then let him go and he will expect I will give him my number but I had to lie. Anyhow that wasn't a problem. I was worried about my behaviour.

I should stop doing this. This is getting way too far now. Dad doesn't know a damn and he doesn't care but for his so-called reputation, I shouldn't be sleeping with strangers. What if someone makes a scandal out of it? My dad would kill me if I mess up his repo.

Anyhow I got up and was about to leave the bed when the man held my arm and pulled me closer.

"Good morning babe."

"Good Morning. Now get up. Somebody must be coming. Leave before someone comes."

He chuckled.

"Are you still drunk baby doll???"

"No, why??"

"Then why are you talking as if someone would make an issue out of it? Nobody would dare say anything about us now. I will break his face."

While saying that he turned around and I saw his chiselled jawline. He was a handsome man with a beard and a tattoo on his neck. He was around 30. His strong muscles portray that he goes to the gym regularly.

Anyhow after checking him out, I snapped back to him.

He was now sitting and pulling me in his embrace while I was avoiding him and trying to get up and wear my clothes.

"Why are you ignoring me now??? Last night you weren't leaving me and now you are being all shy!!! Well, I like it. Both sides of you."

"Mr Whatever your name is. I am sorry I am not good with names. Now get up and leave. Somebody must be coming this way. I don't want my Dad to find out about my secrets. He will kill you if he finds out about you."

"Oh really!!! I don't care. You belong to me now. Don't be afraid. Nobody would dare touch you."

I had enough at that time.

"Listen Mr. Whatever your name is. You have no idea who is my Dad. Now please leave before a scene is created."

"Tell me you are joking Anaya. You don't remember anything from last night."

I was wearing my clothes while he wore his shots and his abs were so damn hot. He got near me and hugged me from behind. He kissed my neck.

"How can you joke about something like that??? How can you ask your husband to leave your room just after our first wedding night."

When he said that I started laughing. I never heard someone joking so seriously.

"Come on. Mr."

"Ryan"

"Mr. Ryan.. whatever happened it was because I was drunk. Now you got what you wanted. Leave before I get mad and you forget what happened last night."

"You don't remember anything??? You are serious??? "

"I am so damn serious. Now you are making me go mad at you. Normally I say goodbye to my guests in a good way but you are forcing me to kick you out."

"Woohhh... Anaya. Let me tell you something. Last night we got married."

"Oh come on. Don't be so lame. Now don't say we are not in my place. It's your place and I have forgotten everything."

"Yes, we are in my farmhouse."

"You are lying."

To prove him wrong I pushed aside the curtains and after I started seeing the outside view. My mind was getting numb. He was right. It was some lavish place. With a swimming pool in Infront of the room.

I was shocked.

"Okay. Fine. I might have gotten too drunk and you have brought me here at your place. But please stop joking about marriage now. I am leaving. My dad must be waiting for me."

"You can't leave like that. You are not an ordinary girl now. You are my wife. "

"Stop it, Ryan. You are going too far now. I have to leave. My dad must be waiting for me at home."

"I don't give a damn about your dad. Just tell me you are joking. You remember marrying me. You remember everything that happened last night between us."

"For god sake leave me. I don't remember anything. Are you deaf?? Are you a psycho? I am telling you again and again. I don't remember marrying you. I don't remember meeting you. I don't remember any fucking thing. For god sake let me go now."

"You think I am lying."

"Yes, you are lying. Do you have any proof we married last night??? Where did we marry??? "

"In a church."

"Oh really. From where did this church come from? Who was there waiting for us???"

"That's not a difficult job for me. I can take you there."

"I am not interested in your lies anymore. I have to leave. Let me go now. If you are a decent man let me go."

"I am a decent man but I am your husband too. How can I let my newlywed wife go like that? Trust me Anaya you will regret leaving me like that."

"You are gonna regret it now. You have no idea who is my dad. He will ruin you."

"Oh really. Then it's a challenge. In 1 month you will be begging me to marry you again. I will make your life hell for leaving me like that. For disrespecting my feeling and rejecting me like that."

I woke up on silk sheets that smelled of expensive cedar and cold sandalwood, a world away from my cramped apartment in Brooklyn. Beside me lay Ezra Gardner—my boss, the billionaire CEO of Gardner Holdings, and the man who could end my career with a snap of his fingers. He didn’t offer an apology for the night before; instead, he looked at me with terrifying clarity and proposed a cold, calculated business arrangement. "Marriage. It stabilizes the board and solves the PR crisis before it begins." He dressed me in archival Chanel and sent me home in his Maybach, but my life was already falling apart. My boyfriend, Irving, claimed he had passed out early, yet his location data placed him at my best friend’s apartment until three in the morning. When I tried to run, I realized Ezra was already ten steps ahead, tracking my movements and uncovering the secret I’d spent twenty years hiding: my connection to the powerful Senator Grimes. I was trapped between a CEO who treated me like a line item on a quarterly report and a boyfriend who had been using me while sleeping with my closest friend. I felt like a pawn in a game I didn't understand, wondering why a man like Ezra would walk up forty flights of stairs on a broken leg just to make sure I was safe. "Showtime, Mrs. Gardner." Standing on the red carpet in a gown that cost more than my life, I watched my cheating ex-boyfriend’s face turn pale as Ezra claimed me in front of the world. I wasn't just an assistant anymore; I was a weapon, and it was time to burn their world down.

I had been a wife for exactly six hours when I woke up to the sound of my husband’s heavy breathing. In the dim moonlight of our bridal suite, I watched Hardin, the man I had adored for years, intertwined with my sister Carissa on the chaise lounge. The betrayal didn't come with an apology. Hardin stood up, unashamed, and sneered at me. "You're awake? Get out, you frumpy mute." Carissa huddled under a throw, her fake tears already welling up as she played the victim. They didn't just want me gone; they wanted me erased to protect their reputations. When I refused to move, my world collapsed. My father didn't offer a shoulder to cry on; he threatened to have me committed to a mental asylum to save his business merger. "You're a disgrace," he bellowed, while the guards stood ready to drag me away. They had spent my life treating me like a stuttering, submissive pawn, and now they were done with me. I felt a blinding pain in my skull, a fracture that should have broken me. But instead of tears, something dormant and lethal flickered to life. The terrified girl who walked down the aisle earlier that day simply ceased to exist. In her place, a clinical system—the Valkyrie Protocol—booted up. My racing heart plummeted to a steady sixty beats per minute. I didn't scream. I stood up, my spine straightening for the first time in twenty years, and looked at Hardin with the detachment of a surgeon looking at a tumor. "Correction," I said, my voice stripped of its stutter. "You're in my light." By dawn, I had drained my father's accounts, vanished into a storm, and found a bleeding Crown Prince in a hidden safehouse. They thought they had broken a mute girl. They didn't realize they had just activated their own destruction.

Rain hammered against the asphalt as my sedan spun violently into the guardrail on the I-95. Blood trickled down my temple, stinging my eyes, while the rhythmic slap of the windshield wipers mocked my panic. Trembling, I dialed my husband, Clive. His executive assistant answered instead, his voice professional and utterly cold. "Mr. Wilson says to stop the theatrics. He said, and I quote, 'Hang up. Tell her I don’t have time for her emotional blackmail tonight.'" The line went dead while I was still trapped in the wreckage. At the hospital, I watched the news footage of Clive wrapping his jacket around his "fragile" ex-girlfriend, Angelena, shielding her from the storm I was currently bleeding in. When I returned to our penthouse, I found a prenatal ultrasound in his suit pocket, dated the day he claimed to be on a business trip. Instead of an apology, Clive met me with a sneer. He told me I was nothing but an "expensive decoration" his father bought to make him look stable. He froze my bank accounts and cut off my cards, waiting for the hunger to drive me back to his feet. I stared at the man I had loved for four years, realizing he didn't just want a wife; he wanted a prop he could switch off. He thought he could starve me into submission while he played father to another woman's child. But Clive forgot one thing. Before I was his trophy wife, I was Starfall—the legendary voice actress who vanished at the height of her fame. "I'm not jealous, Clive. I'm done." I grabbed my old microphone and walked out. I’m not just leaving him; I’m taking the lead role in the biggest saga in Hollywood—the one Angelena is desperate for. This time, the "decoration" is going to burn his world down.
