Obsessive Billionaire Chapter 1 1

Chapter 1

"Mom, Where are you? I am getting late for the office and I am leaving." I grumbled and threw my purse over my shoulder.

"Go, you must be getting late, anyway, it is 9:30 on the clock." Mummy said while shaking hands with me.

I knew that my mother would answer me by dancing like this. I also got rid of him saying the same, "You have not stopped but the mobile you are holding in your hand has stopped me. You will give me my mobile only then I will go to the office." I said, expressing my helplessness.

After this, Mother took my mobile which was held in her hand. Hesitating a bit and shyly, I held my mobile in my hand. According to him, he made a huge mistake when he was holding my mobile in his hand.

I also told him in a warning manner saying, this is your daily condition, as long as I stay at home, my mobile always wants you for some work or the other. I always used to get upset because of this.

Well, I didn't have much attitude. I didn't even boast of anything, be it my beauty or anything else. But due to all these reasons, my mind used to remain a little sad at home.

Anyway, she used to talk to me in such a way as if she was fighting with me. If a neighbor sees me, he will think that these two mothers and daughters are very quarrelsome. I was very afraid of losing my respect. I used to get very angry with this attitude of my mother. She used to call me father's darling.

While listening to this all the time, one day I also told him irritably, have you guys told me.... What can I say, you people used to get very irritated. Saying this, I too used to sit down making a bad face.

Then she also used to persuade me. Seeing my anger, she used to get scared of me once. According to her, she talks to someone, who is her old acquaintance, she is my old friend. He is all out at this time so it is necessary to talk to me. Mummy used to try to convince me by dancing her hands in the same way.

But this was his daily work. As long as my mother lived at home, she used to take the phone in her hand every day on some pretext or the other. I didn't care about her, who she used to talk to. I just wanted my mobile. Because I used to get a lot of office emails and messages on my mobile only. I was getting late for office at this time, anyway, it will be his daily work in future also. That's why they should improve in advance so that I can get my mobile on time. I explained to my mother in clear words.

According to him, I should tell my boss that I am facing some problems due to my mother not having a mobile. I'll manage in a few days.

I also spoke to my mother in a warning tone. There is no shopping mall, or vegetable shop when you want to go there. Whose mind left whenever he wanted? The rule and law there is to come and go from that time only. Then yesterday the bass was not there on the first day, today is the second day, he must have come, and I have heard that he is very hot-tempered. Then it is the job of the boss to keep asking his workers for small things. We must do everything right.

Mummy became completely normal after listening to me. She used to tell me with a cool head. Now I have no one else except you and that girl with whom I can talk or meet. She used to ask me to leave the office. So that a new mobile can come into the house. I also used to wonder if it was so important to talk to that woman who calls all the time. She could have avoided that thing as well.

Now how do I explain this to my mother? It's only been a day since I went to the office. Today is only and only the second day for me, when I will go to the office. And as soon as I leave, I will start talking about taking advantage of the office. What would my boss also think of me?

He used to realize his mistake after listening to me. Then he told me that he had made a mistake. I apologize to him for this. Then he handed over my lunch box to me. I also liked picking you up and started walking to the office from there.

"Ok, mummy, bye see you in the evening." When I start going out of the house waving my hand, I see that in response to waving my hand, my mother also waves me goodbye. Then she locks the door of the house from inside. As soon as I leave there, I feel very happy.

I step quickly and leave for the office. From there I had to come to the crossroads and catch the first bus. After that, I had to catch two different buses to go to the office. This simply meant that the office was far away from my home, and I would have to change three buses daily to go there.

I was going towards the bus stop, walking with fast steps, so to say, almost running. Some people were even laughing at me walking like this, and some were making comments too. Some were saying, wow what a trick. So some were saying are you wearing tight clothes, then some voice was coming, sweetheart, sit in my car, I will drop you wherever you want to go, then some people say, oh my dear, walk slowly, otherwise you will fall. We will suffer a lot, etc.

The reason for that was also because I was wearing some tight clothes. I had bought a new midi for the office, which I was wearing and it was too tight, and I was wearing sandals with heels that I could not even walk in. Then someone looking at my hip also said something like that, even remembering me, I felt ashamed. He abused me. Then that path was not even a little flat.

Listen to all of them, what if anyone's heart sinks, but girls have to bear all these things? After listening to all of them, my heart felt that they all should be asked whether there is no mother and sister in your house, or do you people think like this after seeing me? But I was leaving for the office, so I didn't think it appropriate to mess with those people.

I thought it was getting late. If I get entangled with these people today, then I will have to do this every day, I should walk on my path because I had to do this every day, which means I had to walk on this path every day.

These were small-minded people who could not see anyone being successful. I used to believe about myself that if I want to move forward, if I want to do something good in the future, then I will have to move forward by ignoring those who create such petty thoughts or those who criticize.

Shaking my head, I pushed the thought out and walked towards my destination i.e. the bus stop. That's why the ringtone of the mobile kept near me started ringing, I understood that it is a notification of someone's call.

I ignored the phone and did not pick up the call as I wanted to reach my bus stop as soon as possible. Because if I miss the bus, I will be late for the office. I thought if I reach the bus stop then I will check the phone whose call is it? I will be able to see that too if I get time.

Then the ringing of the phone stopped. I heaved a sigh of relief because as long as the phone rings, anyone can be bothered to pick it up. I reached the bus stop walking fast steps. Apart from me, many other people were standing there waiting to catch the bus.

My steps had just stopped at the bus stop when the phone rang again. I was already sweating from the brisk steps I was taking, and the ringing of the phone upstairs made me even more nervous, who could it be? As soon as I wanted to open my purse to see the phone. Then I saw the bus coming from a distance. There was panic among the people standing at the bus stop that they had to catch the bus and they were getting late.

I panicked even more and became drenched in sweat, my clothes were also wet. Because if I had missed the bus, then I would have got the bus going towards that route again after half an hour. Because people start jostling at the bus stop trying to get on first.

I also thought of catching the bus first and after that when I boarded the bus, I could see the phone, whose could it be? I could also call back on this number. Thinking this, I immediately stood ready to catch the bus.

Within seconds the bus had reached its stop. Yes, it was going to happen exactly as I thought. Then the conductor of the bus said, you people come from the line, whoever comes without the line, I will not allow him to enter my bus. Hearing this, I got convinced that now I can get a ride on the bus.

In some places, all of us had boarded the bus. Now the bus had moved further. I also got a seat on the bus. I immediately remembered, I opened my purse and checked my mobile, then there were 6 to 7 missed calls from the same number.

I guessed as to whom this number could be, but still, I called back that number. That number was not saved in anyone's name. According to my guess, that number turned out to be the one I had guessed to be.

After a few rings, a voice came from the other side, 'Hello.' That sound......

I stood at my mother’s open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest’s voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone—he brought Charla with him. He claimed she’d had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.

The heavy thud of the release stamp was the only goodbye I got from the warden after five years in federal prison. I stepped out into the blinding sun, expecting the same flash of paparazzi bulbs that had seen me dragged away in handcuffs, but there was only a single black limousine idling on the shoulder of the road. Inside sat my mother and sister, clutching champagne and looking at my frayed coat with pure disgust. They didn't offer a welcome home; instead, they tossed a thick legal document onto the table and told me I was dead to the city. "Gavin and I are getting engaged," my sister Mia sneered, flicking a credit card at me like I was a stray dog. "He doesn't need a convict ex-fiancée hanging around." Even after I saved their lives from an armed kidnapping attempt by ramming the attackers off the road, they rewarded me by leaving me stranded in the dirt. When I finally ran into Gavin, the man who had framed me, he pinned me against a wall and threatened to send me back to a cell if I ever dared to show my face at their wedding. They had stolen my biotech research, ruined my name, and let me rot for half a decade while they lived off my brilliance. They thought they had broken me, leaving me with nothing but an expired chapstick and a few old photos in a plastic bag. What they didn't know was that I had spent those five years becoming "Dr. X," a shadow consultant with five hundred million dollars in crypto and a secret that would bring the city to its knees. I wasn't just a victim anymore; I was a weapon, and I was pregnant with the heir they thought they had erased. I walked into the Melton estate and made an offer to the most powerful man in New York. "I'll save your grandfather's life," I told Horatio Melton, staring him down. "But the price is your last name. I'm taking back what's mine, and I'm starting with the man who thinks he's marrying my sister."

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband’s Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn’t find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn’t even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father’s legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn’s party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara’s health and managing every detail of Caden’s empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I’d drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause—if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I’d forgotten.

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch—a titan of industry and my best friend’s father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.

I was the titan of Wall Street until an indictment and an ankle monitor turned my penthouse into a gilded cage. To save face, I was forced into a marriage with Elza, a "mute" girl from the Schmidt family whom I treated as nothing more than a silent piece of furniture while my empire crumbled. The night I was poisoned at a high-society gala, a mysterious server in an oversized uniform saved my life with terrifying, clinical precision. They disappeared into the night, leaving me with a silver cufflink and a burning obsession to find the shadow who held my life in their hands. Back home, I took my frustration out on Elza, telling her she was "exhausting to look at" and "smelled like sickness" after her charity visits. Her own family treated her like a stray dog, trying to humiliate her at the next gala by dressing her in what they claimed was a cheap knockoff while whispering to the press that she was nothing but a high-end escort. "Stay out of my way," I would growl at her, never noticing the steel in her eyes. I sat at my table, watching my rivals' stocks plummet and wondering who "The Zero"—the legendary financial ghost—really was. I never suspected that the woman I ignored was the same one solving the equations that were currently burning Manhattan to the ground. The injustice peaked when Elza stood before the city's elite, not as a victim, but as a queen. She dropped over a hundred million dollars to buy back her family’s legacy, revealing a secret fortune that made my own empire look like pocket change. As I grabbed her wrist and saw the small red mole hidden beneath her watch, the truth hit me like a physical blow. The silent wife I had despised was the savior I had been hunting, and she was finally done playing the victim. "We have a lot to talk about, wife," I whispered, realizing I had been sleeping next to the most dangerous woman in the world.
