Vivian Young becomes involved in an enticing romantic relationship with Louis Morris, the seductive billionaire. Their relationship swiftly develops into something much more than a passionate one-night fling, revealing the startling reality that Louis is not just a mysterious stranger but also her boss. Though their love grows quickly, they are ensnared in a forbidden relationship and stand on the precipice of power and danger. Vivian has to make her way down this perilous path where passion and danger converge. Will Vivian discover that her relationship with Louis is part of his revenge plan?
"What's bothering you, my dear friend?" Vivian asked, her voice laced with genuine concern, her eyes searching Emma's face for any sign of distress.
Emma's lips twisted into a knowing smirk, her gaze momentarily flickering to the sparkling ring on Vivian's finger. A wave of resentment surged within her as she watched the diamond catch the light, mocking her. How could Vivian be so blissfully unaware? How could she, of all people, be the one to wear that ring, to have his love, when Emma was the one who deserved it? The envy gnawed at her, but today, Emma had made a vow: she would destroy everything.
"So, Brian finally proposed, did he?" Emma's voice dripped with mockery, each word heavy with contempt, her eyes dancing with a mixture of spite and satisfaction.
Vivian's eyes brightened, a proud smile tugging at her lips. "Yes, he did! We're getting married in two months," she said, her heart swelling with joy. There was something in Emma's tone that seemed almost too sweet, but Vivian pushed it aside. She'd expected this visit. It was clear Emma wanted to talk about her engagement, and Vivian was happy to share.
Emma's laugh cut through the air like ice, sharp and bitter, reverberating with an almost cruel amusement. She leaned in, eyes glinting with something sinister.
"Well, I'm afraid that wedding won't happen," Emma said slowly, savoring every syllable as if it were a sweet victory. The satisfaction in her voice was unmistakable.
Vivian blinked, the words not quite registering. "What do you mean? I don't understand..." she began, her unease growing with each passing second. Something wasn't right. Before she could gather her thoughts, Emma slammed a thick stack of papers onto the table, the sound harsh and final.
"Why don't you see for yourself?" Emma's voice was cold, almost detached, but there was a gleam of wicked amusement in her eyes as she watched Vivian's reaction.
Vivian hesitated, her gaze falling on the pile of papers. As she began flipping through them, her breath caught in her throat. Pregnancy test results, one after another-each one with Emma's name on them. The shock hit her like a physical blow.
"What is this?" Vivian's voice trembled, but her eyes were wide, unable to comprehend the full weight of what she was seeing.
Emma's smile was cruel, her eyes sparkling with malicious delight. "You didn't know? Well, now you do. I'm pregnant. And the father... the father is Brian Evans."
Vivian recoiled, her face draining of color. "No... you must be joking," she whispered, as if saying it out loud would somehow make it untrue. She couldn't-she refused-to believe what she was hearing. Brian, the man she was about to marry, could never do something like this. Not to her. Not to them.
"Oh, my dear Vivian, I'm afraid it's no joke. Everything I've said is the truth. You were simply too blind, too naĆÆve, to see what was happening right under your nose." Emma's voice was almost triumphant now, like a predator savoring the moment before delivering the final blow.
Vivian's world spun as Emma casually produced more photographs-pictures of her and Brian, caught in intimate moments, their bodies intertwined in ways that now felt like the ultimate betrayal. The images were vivid, undeniable.
Vivian's breath caught in her throat as she looked at the photos, the reality sinking in like a weight pressing down on her chest. Betrayal. Heartbreak. Her hands trembled as she clutched the edge of the table, but Emma's cruel laughter echoed in her ears.
The sound was like a poison, dripping slowly, seeping into every part of Vivian's mind, suffocating her thoughts. The cruel pleasure in Emma's eyes twisted the knife even deeper.
But then, something in Vivian snapped. Her heart, broken as it was, refused to crumble entirely. She stood tall, her eyes locked onto Emma's with a burning fury.
"You're nothing but a traitor!" Vivian's voice rang out, sharp and full of disgust, reverberating through the cafƩ, causing heads to turn. The anger in her chest surged, and without thinking, she grabbed her glass and threw it at Emma, the water splashing across her face.
Without sparing another glance, Vivian stormed out of the cafƩ, her body trembling with a cocktail of rage, heartbreak, and disbelief. She kept her eyes straight ahead, refusing to let the tears that burned behind her eyes fall. She wouldn't let Emma see her weak. Not now. Not ever.
Her hands were clenched into fists so tight that her nails dug into her palms, drawing blood. But even that pain couldn't compare to what was happening inside her-inside her heart. The raw ache, the crushing sense of loss. The betrayal wasn't just from Brian, but from Emma, her closest friend. How had they both done this to her?
Vivian didn't stop until she reached her apartment, each step heavier than the last. As soon as she shut the door behind her, the dam inside her finally broke. She collapsed to the floor, her breath coming in ragged sobs as the weight of everything she had just learned crashed down on her.
Tears poured from her eyes, relentless and unbidden. Her whole world had been a lie, a carefully constructed illusion.
Vivian let out a cry, a sound so raw it seemed to tear at the very fabric of her soul. "How could they both do this to me?" she whispered hoarsely, her voice breaking with the weight of her pain.
For hours, she sat in the emptiness of her apartment, clutching the shredded remnants of her love-the photos that had once meant so much to her now torn into pieces, discarded like trash. She threw them into the garbage, the memories of her happiness now tainted beyond repair.
"I'm such a fool," she murmured to herself, her voice echoing in the empty room. The words were bitter, filled with self-loathing. She had been so blind. So trusting.
Just as the pain of betrayal threatened to consume her, Vivian's phone vibrated violently against the table, the sound harsh and unwelcome. Her breath caught in her throat. She looked down at the screen, her heart racing. The name that appeared made her blood run cold-Brian.
For a moment, she was paralyzed, staring at the screen in disbelief. The old, familiar pull-the hope that she could undo everything, that maybe, just maybe, it was all a mistake-was there. But that fleeting moment passed in the blink of an eye. She knew better now. The man who had torn her world apart didn't deserve another second of her time. He didn't deserve her love. He didn't even deserve her anger.
The message blinked on the screen: "I'm sorry, it's all my fault. Please give me another chance!"
Vivian let out a hollow laugh, the sound almost mocking. The audacity. She stared at the words for a long moment, as though trying to extract any hint of sincerity from them. There was none. Just empty words, just the same tired script of regret he always used after every lie, after every betrayal.
"Another chance?" she muttered bitterly to herself. "How dare he think he could just waltz back into my life after everything?"
Had he not felt the consequences of his actions? Had he not tasted the destruction his lies had wrought? How could he even think-how could he even dare-to ask for forgiveness?
Her heart thundered in her chest, but it wasn't the kind of pain that made her want to run back to him. No, this was the kind of pain that stoked a fire in her soul. It was the kind of anger that ignited a fierce defiance deep within her.
"Gross!" Vivian's voice rang out, sharp and raw. She could feel her words tear through her throat like broken glass, but she didn't care. The truth was sharp, and it needed to be said. "He never loved me!"
Her eyes moved downward, and she saw the glint of the engagement ring on her finger-the very symbol of the promises Brian had made, the lies he had told, the future he had promised but never intended to deliver. Once, the ring had shone with the brightest of hopes. But now? It only reflected the jagged cracks in her heart.
She reached for it, the cold metal sliding off her finger, a bitter reminder of everything she had been foolish enough to believe. With a steely resolve, she placed the ring on the table, pushing it away from herself, almost as if she were discarding a piece of her past. She looked at it, and for a moment, it felt like she was looking at a weapon-a tool she would use to confront the lie that had torn her apart.
"You thought you could break me, Brian," she whispered through gritted teeth, her voice trembling, but not with weakness. It was with something else. Something far stronger. "But you were wrong."
The heat in her chest surged again, a fire that would not be doused by any plea or apology. She was done being the victim. She was done being the one who forgave and forgot. No more.
Vivian turned away from the table, her fingers curled into fists at her sides. Her heart beat wildly, but it was no longer the rhythm of sorrow. It was the pulse of a woman who had had enough. She would not let herself be reduced to a shadow of the woman she had been.
Her thoughts raced as she paced the room, the silence broken only by the sound of her own breath and the soft clink of the ring on the table. How had she let herself get here? How had she let him make a fool of her for so long? The questions gnawed at her, but for once, she didn't need the answers. The truth was clearer than it had ever been.
She took a deep breath, steadying herself, her eyes burning with the fury of a woman scorned.
"You think you can play me? That I'll just take you back because you're sorry now? No." She spoke the words aloud, to herself, to the universe.
Her phone buzzed again, the screen flashing with another message from Brian, the relentless pleas continuing, like a broken record. "Vivian, please, I love you. I was wrong. I never meant to hurt you. Let me fix this. I'm begging you."
She let the phone drop to the floor, the screen shattering upon impact. It was symbolic-a final shattering of the illusion he had woven around her life. She had been living in a fantasy, and now that fantasy was gone. What remained was only the harsh reality, and it was one she would face head-on.
Vivian walked back to the table, her fingers hovering over the ring once more. She could feel her pulse quicken, the anger mixing with something else. Was it fear? Or maybe just the bitterness of knowing she had been deceived for so long?
No. It wasn't fear. It was resolved. She had been broken, yes-but she would not be destroyed. She would not let his lies define her. The love she had once given so freely had turned to ashes in her hands, but now, she would use those ashes to forge something stronger.
"Goodbye, Brian." She said the words softly, almost to herself, as she gathered the strength to move forward.
