* Blurb: He picked up his call, "Hello Wilfred, this is unlike you, what's going on?" Eduardo asked. "Sir, Cindy is in the hospital, you need to come immediately." "What happened?... In which hospital?" Eduardo asked. Eduardo knew something wasn't right, Mr Wilfred can't just call him, if it was a minor issue. "Okay, I'll be there soon." Eduardo disconnected immediately he told him the name of the hospital and rushed out of the meeting hall. All the managers looked at him surprised, such an important meeting and he left like that. Reaching the hospital, he rushed to the ward where the doctor always keep any members of his family. He entered the ward and went closer to the bed, the moment he held her hand, Cindy opened her eyes. "Eduardo..." She whispered. "Who did this to you?" Eduardo asked coldly. "Ouch!..." Cindy sighed in pain to distract him. "Sorry... Does it hurt much?" Eduardo asked. "Hmm... It does hurt." Cindy answered. 'Oh my... What will I tell him?... No no... Cindy be careful of what to say.' She thought and twined her fingers with his. "Cindy who did this to you?" He asked the second time. "Huh?" Cindy asked with an opened eyes. "Cindy... You heard me." Eduardo said. "Erm... It was an accident, I... I tried to place my hand on the balcony, and my hands slipped off." Cindy explained. "Cindy, I told you to take care of yourself but no, you would never do that..." He finger-combed his hair and walked out of the ward angrily. On his way to the Doctor's office, he met Mara. "Mara..." Eduardo called out. "Oh... You're already here, sir, sorry for what happened, the Doctor said she would be fine." Mara said and Eduardo nodded. "Sir, there's something very important you've to know... Your house is not safe for Cindy." Mr Eduardo looked up at her, "What do you mean by that?" He asked gently. "Sir, I know it's gonna sound like crazy but I am really sorry I have to say it... Your mother was the one who pushed her down from the balcony." "What!... Mara, did you know the implication of what you just said... How can you say such a thing?" He asked. "I am sorry, sir, but that's the truth," Mara answered him politely. "Are you sure of what you just told said?" Eduardo asked. "Very sure, sir," Mara answered and then he went back to the ward very angry. He wanted to confirm if what Mara said was the truth, so he sat down beside Cindy, took her hand in his own and locked his eyes into hers, doing that he said, "Cindy... Why are you trying to hide the truth, huh?" Hearing his question, Cindy looked up at him surprisingly. "Cindy... Why did you lie to me... was it mother who did this to you?..."

Lost For Love Chapter 1 One

Chapter one

Eduardo hopped out of the car just as the butler unlocked the main door of the mansion, he scampered into the house, he did not care if he has hurt someone or not. He ran straight to his room to take his shower.

"Hey...what the fuck!." Uncle Linus shouted.

'What on earth could make him run in this manner.' He stood there for some minutes gaping.

Out of anxiety, Linus ran inside the house and quickly put forward one of the curtains and hide. A very lengthy dark brown curtain even a safety dictator can't dictate that someone was there.

After wavering for a while and he didn't hear or see anything coming. He deliberately came out of his hidden place, tip-toed from there to the direction of Eduado's room and barely opened the door to glimpse but to find out that he was taking his shower, which made him fierce.

He closed the door, "Huh... finish with whatever you are doing up there and come down and deal with me." He went back to the sitting room and waited for him.

After some minutes he looked up and Eduardo was coming.

'Oh... my gush... Is this really Eduardo? I have never seen him looking this stunning before, I didn't need to obligate him right now.'

"Hello, uncle... what's up." Eduardo greeted.

"Eduardo... are you going out?" Uncle Linus asked him.

"Yes, I am." He answered.

"I almost forgot, must you frighten everyone in the house before going out? You ran into the house as if you were being wooed by demons." Uncle Linus taunted him.

Eduardo couldn't do anything but raise his eyebrows, wrinkled his forehead and strolled away.

He was so eager to have a little time to go clubbing and he doesn't wanna waste a single time of it.

Ever since he became the CEO of Oak-king Enterprises Company Limited, there's no time for him to flex around anymore.

The work on his table has finally been reduced and for that reason, he's less busy.

The butler, chef and one of the house help laughed together, hearing how Uncle Linus was teasing him.

"Three of you want to be roasted meat when he comes back."

One of the servants who saw what happened reminded them that he is not who they were to mess with.

They quickly ran back to their duties.

Eduardo is someone that doesn't take shit from anyone and can easily do whatever he wishes to anyone without blinking an eye.

They all know Eduardo as a cruel man. He hardly smiles at anyone not even his family.

He was a well-known person even in the clubhouse.

He walked majestically through the door of the clubhouse. The moment he came into view, he was greeted by the receptionist but as usual, he ignored her and walked inside.

They all knew he was such a rude and cruel man.

He has his personal seat in the club and he doesn't dance with just anyone. They use to reserve the kind of girl he likes.

He is a regular customer they wouldn't like to lose.

He got drunk before he decided to leave the club.

"Sir, you are drunk, let me drive you home."

A man he met in the club offered to help him but Little did he know that he was a kidnapper.

His drink was drugged and though he was used to it any time he went to the club, this time was different as it has been a long he took drugs.

It affected him for a while giving the man the opportunity to take him away.

Unknowingly to the man, he was dealing with the devil himself as he quickly regained his senses and struck the man's head immediately after he realized he was kidnapped.

He pushed the man down and zoomed off.

******

"Boss! You never told me he was dangerous."

Cain said to someone on the phone holding his head in pain. Cain was so angry for losing a wonderful opportunity. As he presumed.

Based on their agreement, he was going to be paid handsomely, if he was able to kidnap Eduardo successfully. Cain's mind went to the amount of money he would have gotten if he was able to accomplish the mission, so he sighed and went back to their camp, frustrated.

******

"God damn it!!!." Eduardo blurted.

Unfortunately, his car got involved in an accident as he was driving home, he quickly stepped on the brake and jumped out of the car to see how bad it was.

He was shocked to see a young girl lying Lifeless in front of his car but he was only bothered about his car.

In his opinion money can solve everything, he only took a quick glare at the girl and called Dean to come to take care of the situation while he drove away.

"Dean, I got in an accident and a girl was involved. Take care of her and pay every bill necessary."

Dean left what he was doing and rushed to the place immediately.

'If I don't go now it would be another story, who knows how badly the girl was hurt?'

He already knew him so well that he wouldn't care about what happened to the girl, he quickly rushed to the place to save her.

Dean arrived at the place and was shocked to see how badly the girl was injured and to think that Eduardo left her in that state was making him mad.

How can someone be this heartless, though he knew him before but he thought he has at least changed a bit.

He quickly put her in the car and drove off.

Dean is someone who always takes care of his problems outside his work. You could describe him as gentle but dangerous when it comes to his work.

******

"She's nowhere to be found, Dad, I've searched the streets in the estate, but couldn't find her," Desmond said angrily, and there was awkward silence among them, he turned towards his dad.

"Where's Cindy? What have you done to her?" Desmond asked staring at his dad.

"Listen, I did nothing to her, if there's anyone you want to ask about her, it's probably not me." Mr Black said and quickly went to his room not bothered.

Desmond knew his father lied to him as he was behaving strangely. Then he stood there glued to the floor without emotion, he vividly remembered several occasions he has been a saviour to her, as his father has attempted to rape her.

But this time he wasn't there to save her as he wasn't at home, actually his father didn't succeed in rapping her, she ran away from the house.

Before the last incident that made her run away, Desmond decided to fix a secret camera throughout the house and connect it to his iPad just for Cindy's safety.

Unknowingly to Mr Black that his son Desmond completely watched all that happened with him and Cindy that made her run away from the house.

******

Reaching the hospital, Dean carried her out of the car and rushed her to the VIP emergency room. The receptionist saw how he rushed in and called the doctor Immediately.

He laid her on the bed and turned to the nurse on duty, who helped him to open the ward.

"Call the doctor!! Nurse!"

But there was no response. He walked close to her,

"I said call the doctor!!!"

He angrily shouted at the nurse, all worried about the girl. But before the nurse respond the doctor entered the room.

"Right behind you, Dean." The doctor said.

"Oh good, thank God you are here, Doctor Elvis please do everything..., I mean everything in your power to save her life." Dean pleaded.

The doctor gave the nurse instruction to bring the necessary items needed.

"What happened? How did you get yourself into this?" The doctor asked Dean.

"Doctor..., she ran into my car!!" Dean answered him and sat down on a couch, all devastated.

"She will be fine. She had a little internal injury but with the help of some medication and Enough rest, she will regain her health." The doctor said as he was checking her.

"It alright doctor...," And that's all Dean could say at the moment.

Right in Eduardo's room, his phone beeped, he hesitated before removing his phone from his pocket but when he noticed it was a beep from Dean, he taped the message immediately to read it.

'She sustained an internal injury, but Doctor Elvis said she will be fine.'

Though he acted cruel and heartless but somehow, his conscience denied him peace, but the moment he went through the message, he took a deep breath and his peace of mind was restored instantly.

'It's okay Dean.' Eduardo texted back and after some minutes he feels like calling him to know how everything was going.

And that was not him for real, like ever since he knew what's pain, never has he sympathized or ever felt for anyone but he just decided to call Dean.

Dean picked up his phone to see who was calling, he was surprised when he found out it was Eduardo.

I stood at my mother's open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest's voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone-he brought Charla with him. He claimed she'd had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.

My bank account showed exactly $42.18, and my student loan notifications were flashing red. I lived in a sweltering Queens apartment with my Aunt Lydia, where the air was thick with the smell of stale frying oil and the constant threat of being homeless. Lydia handed me a grainy photo of a man twice my age and told me she had already "sold" me to him. He was a dry cleaner looking for a wife, and in exchange for my hand, he would pay off her credit cards and my debt. If I didn't show up for the date that night, my boxes would be on the curb by midnight. I arrived at the cafe in a state of panic, my selective mutism making it impossible to even breathe. In the crowded room, I accidentally sat at the wrong table. Instead of the man from the photo, I found myself facing Gerhard Holcomb—the cold, terrifyingly handsome billionaire whose family owned the very museum where I worked. He didn't send me away; instead, he studied my trembling hands and offered me a different deal: a two-year contract marriage, a two-million-dollar payout, and a strict clause forbidding any children. I signed the papers and moved into his Park Avenue penthouse, thinking I was finally safe. But when I went back to the old apartment to retrieve the only memento of my dead parents, Lydia lashed out, leaving me bleeding from a head wound. Gerhard’s retaliation was absolute—he had her arrested and her building foreclosed on within hours, claiming he was simply "protecting his assets." As I recovered in his silent, glass-walled home, I saw a call from a famous socialite flash on his phone, and a cold truth settled in my gut. I wasn't just a wife; I was a placeholder, a silent shield used to fend off the women from his past. I looked at the massive pink diamond on my finger and realized the silence I had lived in my whole life was about to become my most expensive prison. I had traded a life of poverty for a high-stakes game of shadows, and now I had to survive the man who claimed to own me.

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.
