Chapter 1 William

William's POV

"How dare you, huh?" Mom shouted at the middle aged woman who is our maid.

" Do you know how much these are worth?!" She continues as the maid, shaking her head in response.

"It's worth more than your entire freaking life. The money would be removed from your salary. Nonsense." Mom yelled and left as the maid kept on sobbing.

I was just coming back from work and when I decided to pass by mum's house and I met this scenario.

" Hey Mom. What happened?" I asked in curiosity.

" My dear, don't mind that woman, those expensive cups I got when I went to Paris last summer, do you remember them?" Mum asked

" Yeah, I do." I replied

" She broke eight of them, leaving only two." Mom said with eyebrows drawn together.

"What?! No way! How?" I responded in surprise.

"Can you just imagine, son? She's gonna pay for them. I assure you." Mom said with a firm and a loud voice.

" Calm down mom, you're not to be stressing yourself you know."

" I know son, How was work today my dear?" Mom asked with concern

" It was alright, I just wanted to come and check up on you and keep you company for a little while." I said with a relaxed face.

We spoke on general things, the company and Dad, ate, drank and accompanied mom to her so she could sleep. Afterwards I left and came back to my mansion.

Dad was the best dad ever, he supported me and he made me the man I am. The day Dad died of throat cancer my Joy died with him. Everyone at the company dreaded me.

Due to dad's death, mom became so fragile like a child, she was diagnosed with hypertension and anything little would make her snap.

So I decided to start visiting her after work and keep her company, so as to the way she thinks, Before going home each day.

The only mistake Dad made was when he took one of the maids as his mistress and got married to her secretly, till mom found out and they had a divorce but he left me in charge of the company for this while.

I couldn't touch any of my inheritance unless I got married, to him that would show how responsible I am.

I was coming out from my usual cafe, no one dared to enter when I am around that morning when a girl looking like she's in her mid twenties bumped into me spling coffee on my shirt.

"I'm so sorry Sir." She said as she grabbed her handkerchief trying to wipe the stain off. Which made me not to get a clear view of her

"Don't you look before walking? Just stop, the shirt is already ruined." I said with anger in my voice and frown on my face.

"I'm so sorry, sir please forgive my insolence." She pleaded as she sobs. She looked at me for a few seconds and bent her head.

I felt pity for her, she looked like she was crying for a long time and my face eased. I didn't bother myself with why she was crying and I Left her to it.

"You may go, next time just watch where you're going to avoid situations like this." I said with a warning tone.

She nodded her head vigorously like a child. Luckily I brought another spare shirt in my car and I changed instantly. As Billy drove me back to the office.
