In a land filled with werewolves, a place where soulmates have been abolished. She has refused to be a victim of the numerous mating practice and has decided to remain single for as long as she shall live. Why mate when she can live on her father's fortune? Her plans are rather thwarted due to unforeseen circumstances and she ends up as the maid of the man to which she once rejected. Life gets tougher when she realizes she has three love interest and they do not feel an opposite reaction. A rough decision she has to make as she is to choose between two substantial men and one peasant. Who does she choose? Who chooses her?

Chapter 1 The wedding.

A wedding was supposed to be one's happiest day, why then did Xena's feel like a funeral?

The general expectation of everyone for her was excitement or even anxiety but her soul remained cold, dead even.

She felt she was in attendance of a funeral rather than her wedding.

As she looked around at the people trying to get things together,it caused her heart to ache more.

Everyone seemed to be excited about the wedding, especially her family. Her father had given the warmest of hugs in the early morning as he expressed how proud he was of his daughter. He would soon be the father in law to the alpha of the strongest pack in the clan. He had called her the perfect daughter. She was great at calculations, reading and even at swords but coming from the weakest pack had limited her opportunities, they were usually ignored by the bigger packs but soon all that would change. His excitement grew at the announcement of the Luna king's presence. It would give him the chance to show off his son and maybe interest their Lord.

"I am very proud of you,my beloved daughter." Xena's father had whispered in her ear.

She had smiled just because she wanted everything to be perfect for her father. She knew how much it meant to him,how much it meant to the family but it didn't cause her to feel any better.

Stuffing her stomach with every available food did not brighten her mood, neither did taking a walk or even talking to the alpha's mother. Her sulking only grew worse by the second.

Her family was so dearly soaked up with worshipping alpha Caleb that they took no notice of her mood.

As she looked around, she finally understood what it felt like to be surrounded with numerous people, yet lonely.

For someone who had insisted that lonely and alone were the same thing, she had definitely gotten a first hand experience on the difference.

She would just have to take in the horror of living with alpha Caleb forever.

"Do I see a frown on the bride's face?" Melinda asked, taking careful strides towards her closest friend. She had expected that reaction from Xena but low-key prayed it wouldn't be so obvious.

As she walked closer, she noticed the crystals of tears formed at the bottom of her friend's eyes.

"You know you don't have to do this , right? "She quickly expressed as she wrapped her arms over Xena's, hoping the hug would at least warm if not comfort her.

Xena's mood slightly brightened up as soon as she saw her friend. She returned Melinda's hug eagerly.

Xena's shoulders dropped as her face dug into her friend's chest.

"I don't want to do this." She complained, squeezing her eyes.Tears would not leave them,at least not today.

Quickly, she looked up to the sour look on Melinda's face.

"Don't worry about me. I can fix my own problems." She assured her friend with a pat on the shoulder.

"It's okay to feel weak and helpless. You can't always be strong and all, feel free to cry if you must."

" I will be fine, trust me." She reassured with a faint smile.

With a quiet smile,Melinda left the room to her and her maids.

"More food, more cakes!" She ordered, shoving a piece of cake into her mouth.

If she would drown,it should at least be in cake.

Chatters and laughter of joy filled the hall as everyone took their respective ranking seats. It was time for the ever mighty alpha Caleb to be mated with his chosen bride. Magaret's eyes scanned the place as her hands slid into her husband's.

The view of the many respectable wolves had kept her eyes dancing for joy. The entire seven alphas were present and the Lycan king had been rumored to be in attendance.

He was one to be rarely seen and would never leave his abode if it wasn't necessary. His presence and acknowledgement was a great honor.

The noise ceased as soon as the royal blue carpet spread through the hallways. Soon, everyone was on their feet, awaiting the entrance of the Lycan king.

Gasps erupted as they watched him step in,basked in the every magnificent glory he was rumored to be.

His blonde hair flowed down to his back, slightly covering up the blue attire he had on.

"Blessed be the eyes that sees the Lycan king!" The announcer proclaimed and Margaret's head nodded in accordance.

It was truly a sight to bestow.

"Mommy, who is the Lycan king?" Her daughter's light voice asked.

"The Lycan king is the ruler of legions."

"What's a legion?"

"A legion is a group of packs. The Lycan king rules over seven alphas in his legion. Now,keep quiet. You don't want to ruin your sister's big day.

Soon,he was seated and the entire hall returned to their activities quietly.

The door popped open again and as expected, the groom made his appearance.

It was time.

Magaret's lips spread as she saw her soon-to-be son-in-law step in with a smirk on his face.

Her dreams had come true, she would be of high standard soon.

The groom took his place at the altar and by the priest as they awaited the bride.

"Now,the bride!" The announcer proclaimed.

The doors popped open, leaving eager eyes watching.

Seconds passed but the doorway still remained empty.

Worry washed over her as she expected the worst.

A guard soon arrived at the doorway with a look of dismay on his face.

"The bride is dead!" He announced.

The entire hall stood still, awaiting the groom's reaction.

"Dead or missing?" The groom asked, stepping off the altar.

The guard gulped down a saliva.

"I think you need to see for yourself," he replied, awaiting the next order.

As Margaret saw the sight before her,her heart dropped to her stomach.

"This cannot be a proof that she is dead" the groom proclaimed, stretching his long arms to the brutally torn white dress on the floor. Horror filled the eyes of many as they saw pearls scattered all through the floor, the book shelves torn down and the table divided into halves.

"This is definitely an attack," a distant voice said.

"They chose the wrong alpha to pick on." He said exiting the room.

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.

I was four months pregnant, weighing over two hundred pounds, and my heart was failing from experimental treatments forced on me as a child. My doctor looked at me with clinical detachment and told me I was in a death sentence: if I kept the baby, I would die, and if I tried to remove it, I would die. Desperate for a lifeline, I called my father, Francis Acosta, to tell him I was sick and pregnant. I expected a father's love, but all I got was a cold, sharp blade of a voice. "Then do it quietly," he said. "Don't embarrass Candi. Her debutante ball is coming up." He didn't just reject me; he erased me. My trust fund was frozen, and I was told I was no longer an Acosta. My fiancé, Auston, had already discarded me, calling me a "bloated whale" while he looked for a thinner, wealthier replacement. I left New York on a Greyhound bus, weeping into a bag of chips, a broken woman the world considered a mistake. I couldn't understand how my own father could tell me to die "quietly" just to save face for a party. I didn't know why I had been a lab rat for my family’s pharmaceutical ambitions, or how they could sleep at night while I was left to rot in the gray drizzle of the city. Five years later, the doors of JFK International Airport slid open. I stepped onto the marble floor in red-soled stilettos, my body lean, lethal, and carved from years of blood and sweat. I wasn't the "whale" anymore; I was a ghost coming back to haunt them. With my daughter by my side and a medical reputation that terrified the global elite, I was ready to dismantle the Acosta empire piece by piece. "Tell Francis to wash his neck," I whispered to the skyline. "I'm home."

I woke up in a blindingly white hotel penthouse with a throbbing headache and the taste of betrayal in my mouth. The last thing I remembered was my stepsister, Cathie, handing me a flute of champagne at the charity gala with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. Now, a tall, dangerously handsome man walked out of the bathroom with a towel around his hips. On the nightstand sat a stack of hundred-dollar bills. My stepmother had finally done it—she drugged me and staged a scandal with a hired escort to destroy my reputation and my future. "Aisha! Is it true you spent the night with a gigolo?" The shouts of a dozen reporters echoed through the heavy oak door as camera flashes exploded through the peephole. My phone lit up with messages showing my bank accounts were already frozen. My father was invoking the 'morality clause' in my mother’s trust fund, and my fiancé had already released a statement dumping me to marry my stepsister instead. I was trapped, penniless, and being hunted by the press for a scandal I hadn't even participated in. My own family had sold me out for a payday, and the man standing in front of me was the only witness who could prove I was innocent—or finish me off for good. I didn't have time to cry. According to the fine print of the trust, I had thirty days to prove my "rehabilitation" through a legal marriage or I would lose everything. I tracked the man down to a coffee shop the next morning, watching him take a thick envelope of cash from a wealthy older woman. I sat across from him and slid a napkin with a $50,000 figure written on it. "I need a husband. Legal, paper-signed, and convincing." He looked at the number, then at me, a slow, crooked smile spreading across his face. I thought I was hiring a desperate gigolo to save my inheritance. I had no idea I was actually proposing to Dominic Fields, the reclusive billionaire shark who was currently planning a hostile takeover of my father’s entire empire.
