Chapter 1 The surprise

Rita's pov:

Today is a very special day to me. I'm turning 60years old. Just the other day I was a small baby playing around with children in my neighborhood.

I miss those days. Right now I'm all alone.

I live in this mansion with no one except for my house keeper. Oh, before I forget she just called me downstairs for dinner. I have just finished dressing up in my room, heading downstairs for dinner. When I walk outside the lights are off. Scared to death, I call out her name, "Ellen,why are the lights off?"

Before reaching out for my bedroom door I hear some movements..then the lights go on.

"Surprise!" ..."Jesus Christ! You surprised the hell out of me."

My living room was full of people. I could spot my childhood friends, employees,kids, my in-laws and most importantly my best friend Daisy.

My living room was decorated. I had not moved out of my bedroom since morning. I was too busy with work and a little depressed because no one seemed to remember it was my birthday today. I had asked Ellen not to distract me since I wasn't going to the office today. She has asked if I was hungry and I told her if I needed food I'd ask her for it. I had planned to stay in my room for the entire day but I couldn't cope because I was too hungry. I summoned Ellen and told her to prepare me some Italian pasta and beef stew. She said she'd call me once she's done.

I decided to freshen up and go downstairs to have dinner and that's when the surprise occurred.

"Happy 60th birthday madam Rita." I was still in shock. "So all of you knew and no one could wish me over the phone? You're all bad."

"Don't say that Rita,"Daisy said, "we wanted this to be your most memorable day. We didn't want the surprise to be ruined." With this, I felt a bit relaxed. My family and friends still remembered and loved me...
