Esther stood in front of her parent with tears rolling down from her chick as she pleaded with her parent

"You can't just marry me off to that old man, I have dreams too"

Her parent stared at her as they listened to her outburst, with the look on their faces they were not ready to listen to anything she had to say.

"Esther your marriage to Douglas is so important to this family and it's going to change our lives for good," Esther's father said calmly.

Esther sat down on the ground crying bitterly and was hoping her parent could change their mind but they'd made up their mind.

Esther sat down in her room alone thinking of how she was going to get herself out of everything around her but there was nothing she could do about the situation, her parents had already threatened to disown her and throw her out of the house if she refused to marry Douglas.

Esther decided to go see her lover Paul the evening of that day, so she could tell him about the sad news.

She was scared of letting him know but she just had to let him know even though it was going to hurt him.

As she got up from her bed to go outside, her parents were sitting down on the couch in their parlor.

They asked her where she was going but she gave no response to them

As she stepped out the air welcomed her with a fresh breeze and she realized that she had not been out the whole day, she felt some kind of relaxation with the freshness that pierced through her skin.

She walked slowly to Paul's house, her heart pounding so fast like it was going to come out of her chest. She kept thinking of how she was going to break the news to him.

They both loved each other so much and had so many dreams together, Paul has been working so hard just to make sure they leave to their dreams. It has not been easy for both lovers.

Esther got to Paul's house and knocked twice on the door but there was no response. She kept knocking but still no response, she figured that he wasn't inside as she turned to return home, immediately she heard a crack on the door

Paul came out with swollen eyes and some bruises on his body, Esther was shocked she asked him what happened but he refused to tell her, and told her not to worry about it.

Esther sat down on the couch close to Paul's bed, she tried to tell Paul what was going on but tears just dropped down to her jaw. Paul was confused about what was going on, he guessed maybe someone died.

Esther couldn't find words in her mouth, she just kept on crying.

Paul used her head to rest on his chest just to calm her down.

Esther finally took the strength to say it out "My parents are forcing me to marry an old billionaire" she said with a shaky voice

She explained everything to Paul and this made him cry so hard.

He suggested that they should run away but there was no money to do that. Paul was so heartbroken and down but he just had to stay strong and face what life had thrown at him

"I will come back for you my love, don't be too hard on yourself," Paul said to Esther, she was confused about his words but she didn't say a word.

He kissed her passionately, her beautiful eyes were filled with tears

He reached out to brush her hair back from her face

She felt his finger on her skin, a sensation ran through her veins as if she was shocked by electricity.

He brought his lips close to her right side ear "I will always love you" Paul whispered to Esther's ear

It was getting dark Esther had to run home before it got extremely dark. On her way home she kept on thinking about Paul's last words to her, she was trying to figure out what he meant by "he would still come back for her."

Esther got home and met her parent in the sitting room and she just walked straight into her room. She was so angry at her parent for trying to marry her off to an old man because of money, they didn't care about her happiness

She jumped on the small bed at the corner of her room to rest her head, she got lost in thought until there was a hard knock on the door.

it was her mom "Esther please open the door, I need to talk to you" Esther's mom said calmly

Esther didn't respond to her mom but her mom wasn't ready to leave the door, so she finally opened the door but avoided eye contact with her mom.

I know you hate me, but this is for the betterment of this family" Esther's mom said with tears almost dropping from her eyes

"Douglas is coming tomorrow to see you, please don't act funny towards him and your wedding with him is next week, "Esther's mom said and immediately left the room not waiting to hear anything from Esther

Esther was extremely shocked that her parent chose a date for her wedding without her knowledge.

This got her wondering if her parents were the ones who gave birth to her or if she was adopted, Cause they don't care if she's happy or not

Esther cried all through the night until she finally slept off.

There was a very hard knock on the door, Esther jumped on her feet and realized it was morning already

The knock came again this time harder, "who could that be?" she wondered...

"Esther opened the door" It was Jessie her childhood friend.

Esther opened the door and Jessie jumped on her happily "It's been a while girl and I've missed you so much" Jessie said with so much joy on her face

"I've missed you too, when did you come back". Esther said with a smile on her face.

Jessie has been with her aunty in Atlanta and they've both missed each other.

The smile on Esther's face didn't last as she still had a problem to think about and her to_be_husband was coming that same day.

Jessie noticed how dull Esther's face was and asked what the problem was and Esther became emotional again

Immediately Esther was trying to tell Jessie what the problem was they heard a knock on the door, it was Esther's mom telling her to get ready that her to-be-husband would be here soon

"What husband is your mum talking about," Jessie said with a confused face

"My parents want to marry me to an old billionaire," Esther said with a sad face

"wow that's good news, then why are you not happy about it?" Jessie said.

"I should be happy about marrying a man that is old enough to be my father," Esther said confused about why her friend was not against it.

"yes you should be happy about it, the money is what matters here and you get to get anything you want, go on vacations and just enjoy yourself, you've suffered a lot sis. It's your time to Enjoy now" Jessie said staring at Esther

Esther was confused for some minutes, she didn't think her friend was going to support this

"But what about my happiness? what about my lover Paul? I love Paul but I don't love this old man" she said facing down

"Money should be your only happiness, my friend," Jessie said with a one-sided smile on her face

Esther was wondering what had happened to her friend, Jessie was not like this before she traveled, she had suddenly changed into a different person. She sat there wondering where those words were coming from.

A knock was heard on the door again, it was Esther's mom reminding her to get ready again
