I am just a very ordinary werewolf girl. I thought I might not find my mate this life, until he appears.

The Forgotten Mate Chapter 1 18th birthday

The morning sun shone into the room, I opened my dim eyes and glanced at the watch on the bedside table. It was past eight o'clock in the morning. I stretched my whole body to relax, then turned around and found Emma sleeping soundly on the bed next to me.

I stared at her beautiful face, and couldn't help but wonder how there was such a perfect-looking girl in the world.

Emma is my cousin, she is only one year older than me. We have lived in the pack house since we were young. Since Emma has no parents and I don't have a father, we have lived in the same room since we met each other. Although we live in the same room, we are two very different people. Emma has beautiful golden curly hair. At this time, the sun shines through the lace curtains, and her hair gleams in the sun, looking very smooth and beautiful. Emma has been good-looking since she was a child. She has a delicate face. Her skin is as smooth and delicate as ceramics. She also has big bright green eyes. She is very popular in school, especially among the boys. She is always dazzling in the crowd, I think boys will probably like such a girl. And I have long black hair. Although I am not as beautiful as Emma, I am not ugly. I am just a very ordinary werewolf girl.

My gaze then noticed the open closet by the wall. Just like our two completely different appearances, Emma and I have different dressing styles. In Emma's wardrobe, you can see all kinds of dresses, mini skirts, scarves of various colors and other accessories. Emma is not only good-looking, her figure is also perfect. In addition, she likes to wear some tight skirts, which can better show her beauty. Therefore, in school, Emma always attracts the attention of others.

Then, my eyes stayed on my wardrobe. Most of the clothes hanging in it were sweaters, jeans, and T-shirts. In terms of dressing style, I prefer to choose comfortable clothes. I don't like makeup. No one notices me in school. Even my brother James doesn't treat me as a sister. Everyone thinks I am a tomboy. However, as far as my own personality is concerned, I don't like the feeling of being noticed. I prefer to be myself calmly and steadily. Emma and I are like people in two worlds.

When I was immersed in my thoughts, I heard someone knocking at the door, "Alice, it's time to get up, don't forget, today is your 18th birthday." I heard my mother said at the doorway, excited.

"I know, right now," I replied, and then suddenly sat up from the bed. Emma heard the conversation between my mother and me. She rolled over, rubbed her eyes with her hands, then slowly opened her eyes and said to me, "Alice, happy birthday."

"Thank you." I smiled at her, then got up and walked towards the bathroom.

I took a quick hot bath, and then I started brushing my teeth and washing my face. When I came out of the bathroom, Emma was gone, I guess she must have gone to her friends.

Then, I changed into my favorite sweater and jeans and walked out of the room.

Coming to the hall, I saw my mother, my brother James, Noel, and a bunch of other pack members are very busy.

"Alice, happy birthday." Noel noticed me and said to me with a smile. Noel is my only friend. We grew up together and we were almost inseparable. In the entire pack house, the relationship between the two of us is the best. As a friend, Noel always encourages and supports me, which makes me trust him very much and I am willing to be with him.

"Thank you, Noel." I stepped forward, stopped beside Noel, and gave him a big smile.

"My baby, happy birthday." Mom took me into her arms and whispered in my ear.

"Thank you Mommy." I said.

Mom let go of me, and then I turned my head to look at James, waiting for him to say something.

"Happy birthday, Ali." James opened his arms and smiled to me.

I walked towards him, then fell into his arms, "Thank you." I whispered in his arms. Although I think James is really an asshole sometimes, I still love him.

He released me from his big hug. "What are you doing?" I asked curiously, looking at the various masks on the table next to them.

"Prepare for the evening mask ball." Noel said excitedly.

"Mask ball?" I was very confused.

"Alice, this is a surprise we prepared for you. We know that you never like to be the focus of the crowd, so we designed this dance party specifically for you. At that time, everyone will wear a mask so that you don't feel embarrassed. Naturally. I hope you can find your mate at twelve tonight." Noel explained excitedly.

In fact, for us werewolves, 18 years old means that we have truly grown up, and it also means that we can have our own mates. At 12 o'clock midnight on the 18th birthday, the Moon Goddess will give us the ability to recognize the scent of mate, which will help us find our own mate.

"That's it, I like it very much." I smiled and said to everyone.

"Alice, you can choose a mask you like first." Mom said with a smile.

I walked to the table and saw all kinds of masks of various colors on it, and then I took a mask of the pink kitten closest to me. "That's it."

For two years, I was the invisible force behind tech billionaire Kieran Douglas, convinced that our "private" romance was his way of protecting us from the tabloid spotlight. I managed his mergers, warmed his bed, and waited for a future that didn't exist. The illusion shattered at 6:00 AM when a Page Six alert debuted Kieran’s "real" romance with socialite Aspen Schneider. Before I could even process the betrayal, Kieran sent me a cold, professional text: "Order flowers for Aspen. Pink peonies. Her favorite." When I tried to walk away, my own mother called me a disgrace and threatened to lock my inheritance forever unless I married a sixty-year-old businessman to save her failing estate. At a high-society gala that same night, Aspen intentionally crushed my burned hand in front of the cameras, while Kieran stood by and dismissed me as a "mediocre assistant" who had overstayed her welcome. I stood in the cold New York rain, drenched in champagne and humiliation, realizing that every sacrifice I made for Kieran was a joke. I was a ghost in a penthouse that was never mine, discarded the moment his "soulmate" returned. To the world, I was just a placeholder whose time had run out. But Kieran forgot one thing: my father’s multi-million dollar trust fund unlocks the moment I legally marry. I didn't need love; I needed a signature and a shield. I walked into a discreet law firm and signed a marriage contract with a man I believed was the city’s most notorious, scandal-ridden playboy. I thought I was marrying a degenerate "beard" to buy my freedom and secure my revenge. I didn't realize the man who signed that paper wasn't a playboy at all, but Gaston Collins—the most powerful and dangerous man on Wall Street—and he had no intention of letting our fake marriage stay fake.

Today is October 14th, my birthday. I returned to New York after months away, dragging my suitcase through the biting wind, but the VIP pickup zone where my husband’s Maybach usually idled was empty. When I finally let myself into our Upper East Side penthouse, I didn’t find a cake or a "welcome home" banner. Instead, I found my husband, Caden, kneeling on the floor, helping our five-year-old daughter wrap a massive gift for my half-sister, Adalynn. Caden didn’t even look up when I walked in; he was too busy laughing with the girl who had already stolen my father’s legacy and was now moving in on my family. "Auntie Addie is a million times better than Mommy," my daughter Elara chirped, clutching a plush toy Caden had once forbidden me from buying for her. "Mommy is mean," she whispered loudly, while Caden just smirked, calling me a "drill sergeant" before whisking her off to Adalynn’s party without a second glance. Later that night, I saw a video Adalynn posted online where my husband and child laughed while mocking my "sensitive" nature, treating me like an inconvenient ghost in my own home. I had spent five years researching nutrition for Elara’s health and managing every detail of Caden’s empire, only to be discarded the moment I wasn't in the room. How could the man who set his safe combination to my birthday completely forget I even existed? The realization didn't break me; it turned me into ice. I didn't scream or beg for an explanation. I simply walked into the study, pulled out the divorce papers I’d drafted months ago, and took a black marker to the terms. I crossed out the alimony, the mansion, and even the custody clause—if they wanted a life without me, I would give them exactly what they asked for. I left my four-carat diamond ring on the console table and walked out into the rain with nothing but a heavily encrypted hard drive. The submissive Mrs. Holloway was gone, and "Ghost," the most lethal architect in the tech world, was finally back online to take back everything they thought I’d forgotten.

I Slapped My Fiancé-Then Married His Billionaire Nemesis

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.
