Eira blinked a few times in order to clear her vision. She noticed that her leg was stinging, but as swiftly as the pain appeared, it also vanished just as quickly. She never feels the discomfort for more than a few seconds at a time, and while this used to amuse her, she no longer finds it funny.

When her eyesight became clear again, she realised that she was lying on a king-size bed that was as smooth as silk. She had never slept on a bed like this in her entire life; previously, she had only slept on the floor or on a cheap mattress.

She frowned as she looked about the room, which was spacious but had little lighting. To a certain extent, the chandelier, and to a certain extent, the candles. The wide window was obscured by the long crimson curtains, which occasionally moved in response to the breeze that was blowing. The inside was warmer than the exterior thanks to the fireplace, which also contributed to the source of light.

The antiques and the furniture gave off an air of sophistication. The location was completely outside of her sphere of awareness and was unknown to her.

Eira struggled mightily to lean back against the bedpost despite the fact that her entire body felt heavy and her head continued to feel dizzy. She discovered that thick cotton cloth wrapped over her wounds was preventing further bleeding. Her hair, which had been pulled up into a ponytail, was now loose, and the mask was nowhere to be found.

It was forbidden for her to expose her face because doing so may get her in serious trouble. She made an effort to put up a fight, but a gentle hand restrained her.

After looking up, Eira soon became aware that she was not the only person in the room.
