"MOONRISE " Chapter 1 1

"It was a bright and sunny day in the small town of Oakwood. The streets were lined with quaint shops and cafes, and the air was filled with the sweet smell of freshly baked bread.

As Elizabeth, walked down the street, she could hear the sound of children laughing and playing in the nearby park.

The town seemed to be alive with activity, and Elizabeth couldn't help but feel a sense of peace and contentment.

Elizabeth had lived in Oakwood for most of her life, and she knew every nook and cranny of the town. She could have navigated the streets with her eyes closed, but today, she was looking for something new.

As she strolled down the street, she noticed a small shop that she had never seen before. The sign above the door read 'The Magic Emporium', and it immediately piqued her interest.

Curious, Elizabeth pushed open the door and stepped inside the shop.

She was greeted by the smell of incense and the sound of soft music playing in the background. As she looked around, she saw shelves filled with crystals, books, and other mysterious objects.

There was a woman behind the counter, and she smiled at Elizabeth as she approached.

'Welcome to the Magic Emporium,' the woman said.

'What can I help you find today?'

Elizabeth hesitated, unsure of what to say.She looks around the shop, still unsure of what to say.

Finally, she asks the woman behind the counter, "Do you sell anything that might help me find what I'm looking for?"

The woman's eyes light up and she says, "Of course! I'm a bit of a matchmaker, you could say. Tell me about what you're searching for, and I'll try to find something that will help you on your journey."

Elizabeth takes a deep breath and begins to explain...

As Elizabeth looks around the shop, she notices a small crystal ball on the counter. It catches her eye, and she finds herself drawn to it.

"What is that?" she asks the woman behind the counter.

"That's a scrying ball," the woman replies.

"It's used for divination and fortune-telling."

Elizabeth is intrigued, and she asks the woman to tell her more about it.

The woman tells her that the scrying ball is a tool used to see into the future.

Elizabeth is skeptical, but she can't help but be intrigued. She asks the woman if she can try using the scrying ball, and the woman nods.

She places the ball in front of Elizabeth and tells her to focus on it and clear her mind.

As Elizabeth looks into the crystal ball, she sees a vision begin to form. She sees herself walking down a winding path, surrounded by lush green trees.

The path leads to a small cottage in the woods, and as she approaches it, she hears the sound of laughter coming from inside. The door of the cottage opens, and a tall, dark-haired man steps out. His eyes meet hers, and she feels a jolt of recognition.

What does this vision mean?

The vision continues to unfold, and she finds herself inside the cottage, sitting across from the man. They are drinking tea and chatting, and she feels a sense of ease and comfort in his presence.

The man tells her that he can see that she is searching for something, and he offers to help her find it. He reaches out and takes her hand, and as their fingers touch, she feels a spark of energy pass between them.

The vision begins to fade, and Elizabeth is left wondering what it all means.

Suddenly, the woman behind the counter speaks, breaking the trance.

"What did you see?" she asks.

Elizabeth is still reeling from the vision, and it takes her a moment to find her words.

"I saw a man," she says, her voice shaking.

"I felt a connection to him, like we were meant to meet."

The woman nods, a knowing look in her eyes.

"He may be your soulmate," she says.

"Or perhaps he's someone who will help you on your journey."

"In either case," the woman continues,

"he is a sign that you are on the right path. Trust in the universe, and follow your heart. You will find what you are looking for."

She pauses, then asks,

"Do you want to try the scrying ball again?"

Elizabeth hesitates, unsure if she wants to see more. But something inside her yearns to know more, and she nods.

The woman places the scrying ball back in front of her, and once again, she is swept away by a vision.

This time, the vision is different.

She finds herself standing in front of a lake, the water still and calm. As she looks into the water, she sees a reflection of herself, but her image is different.

She is older, and there is a sense of peace and wisdom in her eyes. Beside her is a figure, his face obscured by shadows. But she knows that it is the man from her previous vision.

The vision fades, and she is left with a feeling of hope and anticipation.

The woman behind the counter speaks again, her voice soft and soothing.

"What did you see this time?" she asks.

"I saw myself, older," Elizabeth says, still a bit dazed.

"And I saw the man from before. But I couldn't see his face."

The woman nods, her expression thoughtful.

"In time, his identity will be revealed," she says.

"For now, know that you are on the right path. Trust in the process, and trust in yourself."

The woman smiles, and her eyes twinkle with knowledge.

"I have one last gift for you," she says, reaching under the counter. She produces a small box, wrapped in brown paper and tied with string.

She hands it to Elizabeth, who takes it with trembling hands.

"Open it when you feel ready," the woman says.

"And remember, trust in the universe. It knows what you need, even when you do not."

With that, she bids her farewell and returns to her work.

SHANA GRAY

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.

The Convict Heiress: Marrying The Billionaire

Rollins Laman

The heavy thud of the release stamp was the only goodbye I got from the warden after five years in federal prison. I stepped out into the blinding sun, expecting the same flash of paparazzi bulbs that had seen me dragged away in handcuffs, but there was only a single black limousine idling on the shoulder of the road. Inside sat my mother and sister, clutching champagne and looking at my frayed coat with pure disgust. They didn't offer a welcome home; instead, they tossed a thick legal document onto the table and told me I was dead to the city. "Gavin and I are getting engaged," my sister Mia sneered, flicking a credit card at me like I was a stray dog. "He doesn't need a convict ex-fiancée hanging around." Even after I saved their lives from an armed kidnapping attempt by ramming the attackers off the road, they rewarded me by leaving me stranded in the dirt. When I finally ran into Gavin, the man who had framed me, he pinned me against a wall and threatened to send me back to a cell if I ever dared to show my face at their wedding. They had stolen my biotech research, ruined my name, and let me rot for half a decade while they lived off my brilliance. They thought they had broken me, leaving me with nothing but an expired chapstick and a few old photos in a plastic bag. What they didn't know was that I had spent those five years becoming "Dr. X," a shadow consultant with five hundred million dollars in crypto and a secret that would bring the city to its knees. I wasn't just a victim anymore; I was a weapon, and I was pregnant with the heir they thought they had erased. I walked into the Melton estate and made an offer to the most powerful man in New York. "I'll save your grandfather's life," I told Horatio Melton, staring him down. "But the price is your last name. I'm taking back what's mine, and I'm starting with the man who thinks he's marrying my sister."
