The Alpha is cold hearted and wants nothing to do with her. What happens when another supernatural being threatens to take Laurel away from the Alpha?

Chapter 1 Stormy Night

Laurel's heart fluttered with anticipation as she stepped through the front door, her school bag slung over her shoulder.

It had been a long day of exams and farewells, for she was about to graduate from high school!

Her parents' house, usually filled with warmth and familiarity, felt unusually tense as she entered.

Wanda was seated by the dining table, her hands shielded her face...

Laurel walked in cautiously, worried and frightened to see her mother like that.

Had she been crying?;

"Mum?" She called carefully

Wanda glanced up and greeted her with a forced smile.

"Are you okay mum?" She asked, a bit worried

"Yes dear. I got tired and I was trying to catch some shut eye"

"You should go upstairs and sleep. Is Dad home?" Laurel took off her bag, placing it on the couch.

"He....went out to settle something" Wanda smiled " Tell me, you look like you have some exciting news. What is it?"

Laurel noticed that her eyes held a mix of excitement and apprehension.

Something was amiss.

Maybe Wanda was really exhausted and needed to take a long nap...

"Mom, guess what?" Laurel began, her voice filled with youthful enthusiasm. "I just found out that I'm going to graduate at the top of my class!"

Wanda's smile wavered, and she paused for a moment before responding.

"That's wonderful, Laurel," she said, her voice tinged with a hint of sadness. "When is your graduation happening?" Her mother asked, trying to seem excited.

"Next Friday!!! The girls and I planned so much for grad. We're going to do our nails, pick a grad dress, figure out who's doing our make up" Laurel shrieks in excitement, I'm looking forward to it! I can't wait!"

Laurel caught her mother's gaze, she was zoning out again.

"Sometging is wrong mum" Laurel settled in front of her mother.

"Tell me mum. What's wrong? Are you okay?" Laurel asked in concern.

"I do have something important to tell you...."

Wanda hesitated.

"Mum!" Laurel called

She watched as her mother clasped her hands together, her eyes searching for the right words.

"Laurel," Wanda began gently, "you need to understand something about yourself. It doesn't make sense but I promise it will in the end."

Laurel's brow furrowed, her mind struggling to grasp her mother's words.

"What do you mean?" she asked, her voice trembling with uncertainty. "What do I need to understand about myself, mum? What's going on?"

Wanda took a deep breath, preparing to reveal a truth that had been hidden from Laurel all her life.

"You have ties to a powerful Alpha," she explained. "You're part of a world that you never knew existed...."

"I'm tied to a what?" Laurel asked, completely puzzled

"You are mate to an Alpha Laurel. You're the Luna of Moonrise pack."

Laurel stared at her mother for a while before moving her head as though understanding the joke.

"You're pulling my legs. You're joking mum. What's an Alpha anyway?"

"Rel.."

"I need to take a shower and grab lunch before scrolling through my friends' group chat." Laurel placed a kiss on her mother's chin before running up the stairs.

None of Wanda's words made sense and she didn't bother to rethink it at all...

Laurel took a shower and grabbed a snack from her private pantry in her room....

Under her bed actually..

She settled on her bed and chats with friends like she said she would.

Laurel was delighted with her final exam scores and knew she would be going to her dream university.

Kentbark...

She sent in her application and was hoping she would gain an admission, fingers crossed.

As the evening wore on, Laurel switched on to Netflix, bing watching her favourite series.

She could hear her father's car park in the garage and the front door swing open and shut.

In excitement, Laure hurried down the stairs to inform her father about her graduation and all the countless sleepovers she had in mind....

Ad she walked down the stairs, she could see her mother in tears and her father holding onto her.

"Mum? Dad? What's going on? Why is mum crying?" Laurel asked.

"Rel, how...how are you?" Her father smiled ad her as her mother turned her face from her.

"I...I'm fine..mum...are you okay,?" Laurel asked once more.

"Rel, we have to tell you...."

The front door swung open, revealing a strikingly handsome yet cruel-looking man.

He strolls in with two other hefty looking men.

The one who seems in charge, exuded an air of dominance that sent shivers down Laurel's spine.

Her parents seemed to welcome his presence, their eyes filled with an unsettling mix of fear and submission.

The man strode into the house, his eyes instantly locking onto Laurel.

In that moment, her confusion turned into sheer terror.

He approached her with an intensity that was impossible to ignore.

"Dad? Who is he? " Laurel asked, taking cautious steps up the stairs where she stood.

The room fell silent as he moved even closer, his voice was laced with an unmistakable authority.

"Laurel," he said, his words resonating through the air, "I am your Alpha. You are mine, and I have come to claim you."

"W...what?" Laurel looked puzzled.

What is he talking about? And why does he made her feel so afraid and yet drawn to him?

"Dad? I don't like this man, tell him to leave our house" Laurel said, her gaze moving to her parents whose heads hung low.

Her parents, against all expectation, seemed to consent, their expressions betraying a heartbreaking mix of sorrow and resignation.

"Come here" the man ordered

"No! Get the hell out of our house! Who the fuck are you?"

"Mum! Dad! Say SOMETHING!!" Laurel yelled, fear in her eyes as her body shook in fright of the unknown..

He grabs her hand, tired of all this nonsense.

"I said don't touch me!"

Laurel slaps him in the face but he stood like a human statue.

Laurel's heart doubled over when his Amber eyes turned Gold.

Her body shook in shock as her mouth hung open...

"How...."

A deafening slap brushed her fine olive skin, a metallic liquid filled her mouth.

Laurel stared at him in horror.

"There won't be a warning next time" He warned in a dangerously low groan...

"Dad he....he just hit me..." Laurel said, staring at the stranger man with more fear than before...

"Go with him Laurel. He's your Alpha" her father said.

What is he talking about?

"What is going on Dad?! Mum?"

The man pulls her by the arm and flings her over his inhumanly broad shoulders.

"Let go of me!" She yelled "Mum, dad..." she cried but neither of her parents met her gaze.

He tossed her into the black jeep, slamming the doors shut while he joined her at the other side.

Laurel swallowed as he came close, silent tears running down her chin.

"What do you want from me? Let me go!" She pleaded

One deadly glare from him and she fell silent,

"Alpha Aiden?" The driver called

"Drive"

Had she been kidnapped? Why did her parents stay quiet even after he slapped her? Did her parents sell her off to some rich guy?

What will become of her in the hands of this cruel man?

I was once the heiress to the Solomon empire, but after it crumbled, I became the "charity case" ward of the wealthy Hyde family. For years, I lived in their shadows, clinging to the promise that Anson Hyde would always be my protector. That promise shattered when Anson walked into the ballroom with Claudine Chapman on his arm. Claudine was the girl who had spent years making my life a living hell, and now Anson was announcing their engagement to the world. The humiliation was instant. Guests sneered at my cheap dress, and a waiter intentionally sloshed champagne over me, knowing I was a nobody. Anson didn't even look my way; he was too busy whispering possessively to his new fiancée. I was a ghost in my own home, watching my protector celebrate with my tormentor. The betrayal burned. I realized I wasn't a ward; I was a pawn Anson had kept on a shelf until he found a better trade. I had no money, no allies, and a legal trust fund that Anson controlled with a flick of his wrist. Fleeing to the library, I stumbled into Dallas Koch—a titan of industry and my best friend’s father. He was a wall of cold, absolute power that even the Hydes feared. "Marry me," I blurted out, desperate to find a shield Anson couldn't climb. Dallas didn't laugh. He pulled out a marriage agreement and a heavy fountain pen. "Sign," he commanded, his voice a low rumble. "But if you walk out that door with me, you never go back." I signed my name, trading my life for the only man dangerous enough to keep me safe.

I woke up in a blindingly white hotel penthouse with a throbbing headache and the taste of betrayal in my mouth. The last thing I remembered was my stepsister, Cathie, handing me a flute of champagne at the charity gala with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. Now, a tall, dangerously handsome man walked out of the bathroom with a towel around his hips. On the nightstand sat a stack of hundred-dollar bills. My stepmother had finally done it—she drugged me and staged a scandal with a hired escort to destroy my reputation and my future. "Aisha! Is it true you spent the night with a gigolo?" The shouts of a dozen reporters echoed through the heavy oak door as camera flashes exploded through the peephole. My phone lit up with messages showing my bank accounts were already frozen. My father was invoking the 'morality clause' in my mother’s trust fund, and my fiancé had already released a statement dumping me to marry my stepsister instead. I was trapped, penniless, and being hunted by the press for a scandal I hadn't even participated in. My own family had sold me out for a payday, and the man standing in front of me was the only witness who could prove I was innocent—or finish me off for good. I didn't have time to cry. According to the fine print of the trust, I had thirty days to prove my "rehabilitation" through a legal marriage or I would lose everything. I tracked the man down to a coffee shop the next morning, watching him take a thick envelope of cash from a wealthy older woman. I sat across from him and slid a napkin with a $50,000 figure written on it. "I need a husband. Legal, paper-signed, and convincing." He looked at the number, then at me, a slow, crooked smile spreading across his face. I thought I was hiring a desperate gigolo to save my inheritance. I had no idea I was actually proposing to Dominic Fields, the reclusive billionaire shark who was currently planning a hostile takeover of my father’s entire empire.

I watched my husband sign the papers that would end our marriage while he was busy texting the woman he actually loved. He didn't even glance at the header. He just scribbled the sharp, jagged signature that had signed death warrants for half of New York, tossed the file onto the passenger seat, and tapped his screen again. "Done," he said, his voice devoid of emotion. That was Dante Moretti. The Underboss. A man who could smell a lie from a mile away but couldn't see that his wife had just handed him an annulment decree disguised beneath a stack of mundane logistics reports. For three years, I scrubbed his blood out of his shirts. I saved his family's alliance when his ex, Sofia, ran off with a civilian. In return, he treated me like furniture. He left me in the rain to save Sofia from a broken nail. He left me alone on my birthday to drink champagne on a yacht with her. He even handed me a glass of whiskey—her favorite drink—forgetting that I despised the taste. I was merely a placeholder. A ghost in my own home. So, I stopped waiting. I burned our wedding portrait in the fireplace, left my platinum ring in the ashes, and boarded a one-way flight to San Francisco. I thought I was finally free. I thought I had escaped the cage. But I underestimated Dante. When he finally opened that file weeks later and realized he had signed away his wife without looking, the Reaper didn't accept defeat. He burned down the world to find me, obsessed with reclaiming the woman he had already thrown away.
