Being the only son of a billionaire and heir to a multi-billion-dollar empire also comes with its perks, ranging from welcome parties to hanging out with your boys who you haven't seen in a while. Alexander thought
Alexander Sterling is the CEO of Sterling Enterprise. a homeaway boy who came home to take over the family business after the passing of his father. It was his welcome party into the business, and every elite individual in the city came out to welcome him, with the commoners struggling to get a hold of him.
The ballroom where the party was going on buzzed with life and entertainment, with people talking and clashing their glasses together in salutation. Alexander strode through the ballroom, greeting everyone. He could not appear rude at his own party. The room was filled with so many people of influence and power. Being a different person than his father, he just made his way through the room, acknowledging everyone in attendance. He made his way to the mini bar, requesting a Vodka to relieve himself. "Exhausted?" He heard a voice beside him, sliding his head towards the voice of a woman whose aura had a fascinating liveliness to it.
"No, not really." He said he was smiling.
"Good, because you haven't made it across the room." She said she was walking away.
"I can see that; I haven't made it to you yet," he replied, trying to catch up with her.
Olivia Hart, her name whispered in hushed tones among the city's elite, stood at the periphery of the event. Her dress, an ethereal cascade of silk and lace, whispered of a quiet elegance that set her apart. Her eyes, a shade of hazel that mirrored the city lights, held a depth that hinted at stories untold.
Olivia Hart-he knew that name. The name Hart was just as prominent as Sterling's. Hart's Law Firm is one of the biggest law firms in the city, and Damon Hart, who not only passed away recently, was his father's lawyer.
"Checking me out"
"Busted?". He said he was trying not to act embarrassed, then he remembered he hadn't said his name.
"Alexander Sterling". He told her.
"I know who you are, and so does everyone in this room; your father and mine worked closely together. I am sorry for your loss," she told him.
"Me too. So are you here alone?" Alexander asked.
"Who said I was alone? she replied. They both laughed, and she continued making jokes about his greeting style, with everyone looking at them, some wondering what they were talking about and others making fun of them.
"You kept asking if he needed more champagne rather than a deeper conversation." She continued to tease him. He kept laughing while being fascinated by her. Her jokes and laughter were proving to be the highlight of his evening, and he didn't want it to end.
Olivia was having this same thought as well, thinking about how he had not passed up a chance to make her feel special in every conversation and how deep and intense he was. Still deep in thought, she heard, "Can I have this dance?" Despite being a beautiful lady, no one ever asks her for a dance. Maybe that was because everyone was scared of her boyfriend at the time. "But this is different, she said to herself".
"Olivia" jumped from her thoughts after hearing her name a bit louder. "Would you like to dance?" she heard. "of course" she replied,
As they moved with steps that matched in a dance that reflected the rhythm of their developing relationship, they danced with the grace of a professionally choreographed ballet.
During the dance, there was a deep connection running through them as they danced to the rhythm of each other's bodies, not caring who was watching. Excitement flowed through them as they stared into each other's eyes, still dancing.
"So this billionaire dances." Olivia said, smiling.
"Oh he does." Alexander answered, still dancing.
The music swirled around them, leaving them engulfed in their dance, oblivious to the world around them. The ballroom seemed to fade away as they moved with an effortless harmony that reflected a connection beyond the superficialities of wealth and status.
As the dance unfolded, Alexander found himself captivated by Olivia's presence. There was an intriguing mystery about her-a depth that beckoned him to explore further. He couldn't help but be drawn to her hazel eyes, each glance revealing a layer of complexity that fueled his curiosity.
As they twirled and glided across the dance floor, Alexander felt a sense of liberation. It was a departure from the expectations and responsibilities that came with his family name. For a moment, he wasn't the heir to a billion-dollar empire; he was simply a man dancing with a woman who sparked something new within him.
"We have a lot to discuss, Mr. Sterling." Olivia said as they moved to the rhythm of the music playing in the background.
"Oh, so it is, Mr. Sterling, now what about all the flirty sways?" He responded
"I'm serious, Alexander. I just found out my father and yours were mixed up in dangerous things, things I think cost them their lives."
Alexander stopped moving and just stared right at her.
"You need to leave now." He said it to her glaringly.
"What!" She said, like a silent whisper, "What do you mean?" She continued.
"Exactly what I said; leave now and don't try to contact me again since I'm assuming your being here isn't a coincidence."
"It isn't Alexander, and we have much to discuss." . She said she was trying to find out what went wrong.
"You need to leave." He said this, trying to signal security.
"I will leave, but take this," she said, extending a card to him. "When you are ready, I have instructions for you from your father."
Olivia left the party disoriented and unhappy. She had earlier thought Alex would have been more curious to hear what she had to say rather than dismiss her the way he did.
