Alpha's Chosen Concubine Chapter 1 How it started

Today, the shopping mall was packed with so many young ladies all going about excitedly, shopping in preparation for the big day tomorrow. Tomorrow was the Concubine Selection day and the whole park was excited and looking forward to who the Alpha was going to choose as his concubine. The Alpha had been mated to his Luna for the past four years and they had not been able to produce a child. Because of their childlessness, a selection of a concubine was being organized for the Alpha by his mother so that the Alpha would have a child.

I had my nose snuck in the novel I was reading as I walked behind my twin sister into the mall. She kept bubbling on and on excitedly about how she was the most beautiful lady in the pack and would certainly pique the Alpha's attention. I couldn't argue with her. She was right. She definitely was the most beautiful girl in the pack. And the most ill mannered as well.

"Hazel. Are you even listening to me?" She barked at me and I immediately diverted my attention from the book and back to her. I pasted an apologetic smile on my face.

"I'm sorry, Harriet. You were saying...?"

Harriet rolled her eyes at me and flipped her long, perfect blonde hair behind her neck, cat-walking ahead of me while I ran to catch up with her like a dog trailing after its master.

When we got to the boutique section in the mall, we saw that there were several other girls in line, getting attended to by the staff. Harriet's eyes flew open in horror as she saw a girl holding her favorite dress– the type she kept going on and on about how much she wanted it. Seeing Harriet eye the girl with so much disdain was enough to make me sure of one thing.

Hell was about to be let loose today.

With the speed of a lightning, Harriet dashed towards the girl and snatched the dress from her hand. The girl gasped and gawked in surprise, mirroring the expression of the sales girls and the rest of the girls in the boutique.

I held my breath and watched my twin sister wreak havoc. If there was one thing I knew too well about Harriet, it was that she hated to share her things and would do anything just to have her way and get the thing she wanted the most. She was always used to winning and I was used to letting her win.

"You stupid piece of shit! Who told you that you could have this dress?"

"Excuse me!" The girl continued to glare at Harriet in pure disbelief.

"Are you deaf or just daft?" Harriet spat at the girl again.

"What the heck is even your problem?" The girl asked, confused.

I remember when I used to ask Harriet the same question when we were much younger. But as we grew up, I learned to put up with her terrible attitudes and let her have her way with everything.

Harriet and I were identical twins. Same long, blonde hair. Same sapphire colored eyes. Same height and body size. The only difference was our personalities. While I was the quiet, reserved and weak one, Harriet was the loud, outgoing and tough one.

"You cannot have this dress, missy." Harriet replied to the girl. "I already picked it even before you were here." She eyed her terribly before throwing the dress to one of the sales girls who caught it with a small stagger.

"Wrap that up for me."She demanded in a cold voice, ignoring the lady who got to the dress before her."

"Ok–okay, miss." The sales girl stammered before proceeding to wrap up the dress. The rest of the girls watched Harriet in shock and disbelief. Probably wondering how someone could be so confident, so full of herself and yet, so untouchable. It was obvious that Harriet would win against the girls on the Selection. Her beauty and confidence was unmatched. As for me, I never made a big deal out of my good looks and I wasn't the least interested in the Selection or anything related to royalty.

Harriet paid for the dress and strode past me again. "Let's get going, Hazel."

I quickened my pace after her and we left the mall, boarded a cab and headed for home. As soon as we arrived, Harriet received the warmest reception from my parents while they ignored me as though I was a ghost. It didn't bother me. I was used to them ignoring my existence and cherishing Harriet's.

"How did it go? Did you get the dress?" My mother drew Harriet a seat in the living room and I sat down on a solo cushion next to Harriet's.

"Yes." Harriet unpacked the dress from the packaging box. "I was just on time before some other girl got it."

"Lucky you." My mother commented and held the dress up to get a proper view of it. A proud smile crossed her face as she did so. "You are definitely going to slay in this, my dearest."

"Of course, she would. She is her father's daughter." My father gave Harriet a peck on the cheek and I rolled my eyes at the gesture before returning my attention to my book again.

"No, she is not." Mother chuckled and slapped father's arm playfully. "She is her mother's daughter. By the way, Harriet dear, your father made spaghetti with jarred pasta sauce and ground beef. Your favorite."

"Sounds yummy!" Harriet sounded ecstatic about the idea.

"I don't like spaghetti." I raised my eyes from my book and looked towards their direction.

My parents gave me a ridiculous look.

"Then go find yourself something else to eat." Mother waved me off and focused her attention back to Harriet again.

"You are going to be the fairest of them all at tomorrow's Selection. I wish I could be there to cheer you up. But the Alpha wanted it to be a private event."

"You don't have to worry about me, mother. I will win the Alpha's heart and bear him a child. That is definite."

"Your father and I have strong faith in you." My mother replied.

It was always obvious that my parents were desperately in support of Harriet partaking in the Selection because they were interested in having a tie with the Alpha and milking money from him. Sometimes, I wondered why the gods chose this family for me.

"Tomorrow is going to be my big day." Harriet squealed excitedly.

Only this time, Harriet was wrong and things didn't go her way as they used to. Because, the next day, which was the big day, Harriet fell from the stairs and twisted her ankle, badly. It was obvious she would not be able to make it to the Selection in that injured state.

And that was when my parents arranged for me to be her substitute for the Selection.

Who said a twist of ankle doesn't result in a twist of fate?

HONEY MULLINS

Six years ago, I was a naive girl sold by my father to the powerful Sanders estate, only to be tossed onto the streets after a brutal assault they labeled "marital infidelity." I fled the country pregnant and broken, hiding from the shadow of a husband I had never even met. Now, I've returned to New York with my triplets to sign the final divorce papers and disappear forever. But Archibald Sanders-the man I was told was a crippled recluse-intercepted us with the cold precision of a predator. He didn't see the woman his family destroyed; he saw a gold-digger who had shamed his name. His security team hunted us to a grimy motel, using tactical force to snatch my children away and drag me to his glass-walled empire. In his office, he loomed over me, demanding a DNA test and threatening to throw me in prison while my babies were lost to the foster system. He was convinced I'd cheated, yet he stared at my sons with a haunting confusion, unable to ignore the stormy blue eyes that were a perfect mirror of his own. I stood there, paralyzed by his scent-the sharp tang of rain and expensive leather that triggered the icy dread of my worst nightmares. How could he accuse me of betrayal when he felt exactly like the monster who had shattered my life in that dark hotel room? "I'll sign anything," I sobbed, "just give me my kids." But the game changed when my five-year-old son hacked the tower's security, holding the skyscraper hostage to save me. In the chaos, a fragile, silent boy-Archibald's secret son-wandered into the room and reached for me as if I were his missing soul. Archibald's face turned to stone as he tore up the agreement and locked the doors. "Until I find out why my son is looking at you like that," he growled, "you aren't going anywhere."

The Silent Bride's Billion Dollar Contract

Landslide

My bank account showed exactly $42.18, and my student loan notifications were flashing red. I lived in a sweltering Queens apartment with my Aunt Lydia, where the air was thick with the smell of stale frying oil and the constant threat of being homeless. Lydia handed me a grainy photo of a man twice my age and told me she had already "sold" me to him. He was a dry cleaner looking for a wife, and in exchange for my hand, he would pay off her credit cards and my debt. If I didn't show up for the date that night, my boxes would be on the curb by midnight. I arrived at the cafe in a state of panic, my selective mutism making it impossible to even breathe. In the crowded room, I accidentally sat at the wrong table. Instead of the man from the photo, I found myself facing Gerhard Holcomb—the cold, terrifyingly handsome billionaire whose family owned the very museum where I worked. He didn't send me away; instead, he studied my trembling hands and offered me a different deal: a two-year contract marriage, a two-million-dollar payout, and a strict clause forbidding any children. I signed the papers and moved into his Park Avenue penthouse, thinking I was finally safe. But when I went back to the old apartment to retrieve the only memento of my dead parents, Lydia lashed out, leaving me bleeding from a head wound. Gerhard’s retaliation was absolute—he had her arrested and her building foreclosed on within hours, claiming he was simply "protecting his assets." As I recovered in his silent, glass-walled home, I saw a call from a famous socialite flash on his phone, and a cold truth settled in my gut. I wasn't just a wife; I was a placeholder, a silent shield used to fend off the women from his past. I looked at the massive pink diamond on my finger and realized the silence I had lived in my whole life was about to become my most expensive prison. I had traded a life of poverty for a high-stakes game of shadows, and now I had to survive the man who claimed to own me.
