Rejected and pregnant Chapter 1 ONE

"Sister, I think I need your help. Can I come in for a bit?" Fira heard her sister muttered from outside the door, her eyes stared at the door through the mirror, a faint smile hanging on her lips.

"Of course Dina, you are always welcome." Fira replied. Fira's eyes ran down her dress and her makeup and her accessories, she was all set and ready to get engaged to the man of her dreams.

Her Mate. The man the moon goddess has carefully crafted for her, she gave a cheeky smile admiring her appearance. "You look happy today Fira, I hope you always keep smiling." Dina muttered as she made her way towards the mirror, a glint flashing through her eyes.

"Thank you so much sister. I am so happy too, finally Alan will be mine." Fira remarked standing up on her feet to speak to her sister properly.

Dina chuckled, thinking to herself, 'indeed he would be someone's own today, but definitely not yours' a fake grin appeared on her face.

"Ah, before I forget. Mom asked me to hand over this glass of juice to you and also tell you to make sure to drink it, she is worried you might not eat anything and faint during the party." Dina remarked raising the glass of juice in her hand towards Fira.

Fira hummed, her eyes shifting to her sister's hand as she just noticed the glass of juice she was holding. Fira stretched out her hand and happily took the glass from her sister. "Thank you so much Dina for bringing it over. I thought you needed my help with something?"

Fira questioned before placing the glass of juice on her lips and gulping it all down in one drink. She placed the glass on the table and turned towards her sister, her eyes sparkling like stars.

"Yes, could you help me put on this necklace? I got a matching pair with you and I wanted you to help me put it on." Dina muttered stretching out the necklace hidden in her hands.

Fira nodded and went behind her, taking the necklace from Dina and trying to fix it on her. Fira felt her gaze spin for a moment, she held onto Dina's shoulder to stop herself from falling while shaking it off her.

A tiny grin appeared on Dina's lips, "Sister's help me put it on quickly, the engagement will start soon." She urged Fira. Fira nodded and immediately tried to help Dina put on the necklace but then, her head began spinning. Before she could realize what was happening to her, she slipped and her gaze blacked out.

Dina turned, a cute grin on her lips. She whistled and immediately 3 men covered in all black rushed into the room, they picked up Fira from the ground and left from the room like nothing happened.

Skyler pulled on his jacket for the umpteenth time in a roll, his eyes fell on the plate of food and drink on the table and his eyes dimmed. "Skyler, are you okay? You seem itchy?" A young girl asked with an innocent smile placed in her eyes.

"I am fine. I just feel a little bit hot. Maybe it's the jacket I am wearing." Skyler replied leaving no room for any more questions, he took off his jacket and unbuttoned the first button of his sleeve and sat still.

Mrs Quinn decided not to involve herself in the conversation between her son and the little girl, "Why don't you both go ahead and talk on the terrace? Afterall we are here for your alliance and not for us." Mrs Quinn remarked.

"No mom, Ii...."

"You can't refuse me Skyler, you owe me this." Mrs Quinn responded to her son and gestured towards Amara to stand up and lead him out. Amara was more than happy to go and have alone time with Skyler, after all he was the reason she was there.

Skyler stood up on his feet and left directly, walking ahead of Amara who was trying to catch up with him. Mrs. Sebastian, Amara's mother smiled as she watched the two leave from there, her eyes fell on the food and a grin appeared on her lips.

Skyler frowned when he felt the heat on his body rising more higher than normal, he pursed his lips while lost in thoughts while standing inside the elevator. Amara watched Skyler stand there without talking to her and she tried to initiate a conversation with him.

"Are you alright Skyler? You have been quiet." Amara muttered, placing his hand on his arm to get his attention.

Skyler immediately pulled away when he felt the soft touch on his arm, his eyes turned grim and within a second he clicked on the elevator and walked out of it. Amara panicked wondering if she had made him angry.

Amara felt her eyes water in fear and panic, she didn't mean to upset him. Amara quickly ran after him trying to stop him. "Skyler! Skyler please talk to me! I didn't mean to touch you just now"

A group of men clothed in black panicked when they heard the loud voice and step walking towards them, "What room was it again? Before we get caught?"

"I think it's 302"

"No no, it's 305. Look 305 is slightly opened. That's the correct room." The other responded, they didn't know if it was correct but the urge not to get caught made them hurry into the room.

They placed the unconscious girl on the bed and immediately ran out shutting the door closed, they hurriedly walked down the hallway and rushed into the elevator.

Skyler clicked his teeth in anger, he couldn't believe they had the audacity to drug him and try to get him to lay with her. He paid deaf ears to Amara's screams and directly walked into his penthouse.

This was a restaurant/hotel that was owned by him and this is where he had been staying before his mother came to force him out. He slammed the door shut behind and proceeded to take off his buttons, visibly angry, the veins on his hand stood out.

Fira felt her consciousness returning, her forehead dipped into a frown when she tried to stand up. Her eyes still shut, Skyler turned his attention towards the best when he felt there was someone else in the room with him.

Fira finally managed to open her eyes, the events of the morning rushed into her memory. "What!! I am supposed to be getting engaged." She shrieked to herself, Fira failed to notice the man standing close to the door.

When she tried to stand up, her body slurped back on the bed which made her gasp in pain. Skyler felt the little gasps from the person on the bed was particularly annoying, he walked towards the bed with predatory glares in his eyes.

Fira finally took notice of the man in the room, she shrunk into the bed when she saw him walking towards her with heavy steps. Skyler felt the heat in his body increasing while he walked, his judgment was slowly getting clouded.

"Stay away from me please, I do not know you. Don't hurt me." Fira murmured trying to move back but it was futile before she could protest, the man already got close to the bed.

Skyler grit his teeth, he couldn't call anyone for help, the only choice he had was to lay with her. "I will compensate you well for this, just bear with this." Skyler muttered before yanking the button off his clothes, his face was red and he was releasing heavy breaths too.

The heavy iron gates of the Wilderness Correction Camp groaned as they released me after three years of state-sponsored hell. I stood on the dirt road, clutching a plastic bag that held my entire life, waiting for the family that claimed they sent me there for "rehab." My brother, Brady, picked me up in a luxury SUV only to throw me out onto a deserted highway in the middle of a brewing storm. He told me I was a "public relations nightmare" and that the rain might finally wash the "stink" of the camp off me. He drove away, leaving me to limp miles through the mud on a snapped ankle. When I finally dragged myself to our family estate, my mother didn't offer a hug; she gasped in horror because my muddy clothes were ruining her Italian marble. They didn't give me my old room back. Instead, they banished me to a moldy gardener’s shack and hired a "babysitter" to make sure I didn't embarrass them further. My sister, Kaleigh, stood there in white cashmere, pretending to cry while clinging to her fiancé, Ambrose—the man who had once been mine. They all treated me like a volatile junkie, refusing to acknowledge that Kaleigh was the one who planted the drugs in my bag three years ago. They wanted to believe I was broken so they wouldn't have to feel guilty about the "wellness retreat" that was actually a torture chamber. I sat in the dark of that shed, feeling the cooling gel on the cigarette burns that covered my arms, and realized they had made a fatal mistake. They thought they had erased me, but I had returned with a roadmap of scars and a hidden satellite phone. At dinner, I didn't beg for their love. I simply rolled up my sleeves and showed them the price of their silence. As the wine spilled and the lies crumbled, I sent a single text to the only person I trusted: "I'm in. Let them simmer." The hunt was finally on.

I was four months pregnant, weighing over two hundred pounds, and my heart was failing from experimental treatments forced on me as a child. My doctor looked at me with clinical detachment and told me I was in a death sentence: if I kept the baby, I would die, and if I tried to remove it, I would die. Desperate for a lifeline, I called my father, Francis Acosta, to tell him I was sick and pregnant. I expected a father's love, but all I got was a cold, sharp blade of a voice. "Then do it quietly," he said. "Don't embarrass Candi. Her debutante ball is coming up." He didn't just reject me; he erased me. My trust fund was frozen, and I was told I was no longer an Acosta. My fiancé, Auston, had already discarded me, calling me a "bloated whale" while he looked for a thinner, wealthier replacement. I left New York on a Greyhound bus, weeping into a bag of chips, a broken woman the world considered a mistake. I couldn't understand how my own father could tell me to die "quietly" just to save face for a party. I didn't know why I had been a lab rat for my family’s pharmaceutical ambitions, or how they could sleep at night while I was left to rot in the gray drizzle of the city. Five years later, the doors of JFK International Airport slid open. I stepped onto the marble floor in red-soled stilettos, my body lean, lethal, and carved from years of blood and sweat. I wasn't the "whale" anymore; I was a ghost coming back to haunt them. With my daughter by my side and a medical reputation that terrified the global elite, I was ready to dismantle the Acosta empire piece by piece. "Tell Francis to wash his neck," I whispered to the skyline. "I'm home."
