MAFIA KING'S OBSESSION Chapter 1 ACCIDENTAL MEETUP

As I ran through the dark, empty deserted streets. I could the bus fading right in front of ny eyes. My legs ran much faster than usual just to get on it but it was pure harsh bad luck to miss it. I felt pain in my legs as I came to halt. Deep breaths came in and out of me as I took breath.

I felt I was going to collapse. It was almost night. 8.00pm. The deserted streets with no brightness began to scare me. The dull light coming from the street lamps was more scarier than anything else. It made the street look like a cellar where people were going to be punished for there crimes.

My feet lazily took me to the bench which I had left behind. I had lost a ton of energy just for nothing. I was getting annoyed. All this effort for nothing.

I sprawled on the bench behind me, it felt an eternity for the bus be here. My hands slowly moved to my pocket and pulled the phone out. It had been turned off for quite a moment so I quickly switched it on.

As I did the notification came buzzing, I squinted my eyes in irritation. My hands were fidgeting on the screen.

As i tried to turn the phone to mute. My eyes were glued tightly to my phone, it made me forget about my surroundings.

"Why is this taking so long?" I mumbled as I scrolled through the phone checking for bus arrival. To my dismay, it was half an hour late. I groaned as I saw the time, such a bad luck.

The darkness was getting deeper and deeper. The streets became more deserted as no soul came out and they also had a reason for not being out here at this time. The condition of the town had been deteriorating for last few months now.

All the brutal murders which happened made everyone's skin crawl. Here I sat by myself alone. All of this was off my mind. I had no care about this, as nk thought about such danger popped in my mind.

The alerts, alarm everything was turned off as If my mind has shutted down the whole system. My mean time was spent staring at the phone.

Scrolling through the tons of messages, among them there was my message from my brother.

"Rachel, I'm leaving town for couple of months. Don't worry about me." my eyes opened widely as I read the message and my body straightened up. I couldn't belive he had left like that. Leaving me alone, without informing.

We hadn't even discussed about this and he left. A wave of tension swayed through me. He should've talked to me before taking this action. My heart was pounding in my chest and I placed the phone near my ear, I prayed for him to answer but luck wasn't really on my side today.

It switched to that automatic system. I smashed the phone on my lap and stared down the street nervously. There were still 15 minutes for the bus to be here. I started to text him about how disappointed I was but suddenly as I was typing I felt something on my leg.

I flinched as I felt something crawling on me and Jumped on my feet, a scream left my mouth as my eyes laid on that rat which had now ran to the opposite side of the road right in gutter.

I felt disgusted, my feet were shaking as I took seat on the bench again and pulled my phone which was on the ground.

Now I really felt scared being outside alone. The rat had awoken the thoughts of the other dangers which I could face on the street. My body shivered as I blinked my eyes to clear ny brain ny eyes fell on the figure right across the road.

The only thing visible were thosd white eyes which stared right a me. I trembled as ai noticed those bloodshot horrifying eyes on me. There was no movement in his body.

The only thing he did was just staring. I could feel something crawl under me again but this time it was the fear. I couldn't get up or run away or do anything else. As his eyes were penetrating through my soul. Making me stuck on my position.

As the tension grew more in atmosphere, I saw him moving. Taking slow steps towards me, my breath hitched. He was coming right at me. All the alarms rang in my mind but there was no moment inside me.

I wished I could run but U couldn't. My hands were wet because of the sweat. The moment was of pure danger. Suddenly, the bus came to halt in front of me. Blocking the view of that man. It was my chance to run and save myself.

My Brain immediately responded and pushed me to the bus in front of me. I jumped on it and closed my the doors before that creep could hop in.

My body was still shaking hysterically. I quickly payed for myself and walked to an empty seat but as I scanned through the bus. The eyes again fell outside where I saw that dark figure standing outside right on that spot where Ibwas earlier, waving at me. I felt like was being chocked to death and no more air could enter nor leave my lungs.

I hardly gulped that hard lump in my throat and settled on the seat on the side. There was a person already sitting beside me.

I glanced at him, I panic but there was no motion in him as if he was sleeping? Or drunk I thought..

Again a pang of fear came in my stomach and I jumped on my feet. It was better for me to get another seat. I couldn't afford another freak stalking me or this time more worse, kidnapping me.

Darkness was falling quite quickly and now it was completed dark all around. No street lamp nothing was lighten. I was feeling scared. My eyes went to the man on my left.

He had his head hung low and his face looked paler than ever. My area was reaching very soon. I had my eyes on him and mind glued on him too,

"What will happen to him?" I thought. The bus driver finally stopped the bus with a jerk. Thankfully I was holding on my seat tightly.

The other mans body fell on the ground because of the jerk, he groaned as if he was in pain. It looked like he sas suffering from something adverse. My eyes widened as I ran to him,

"Are you okay?" I yelled out abd turned to the driver, "Sir here's some man unconscious." I told but the busy driver seemed to care the least.

"Take him away, he's just drunk." he spoke wryly as he was done dealing with anyone and he looked tired. The dark marks on his face and the darkness under his eyes made me pity him.

I looked at the man and I found myself in delima. Why was it so hard to choose? I didn't know if this guy was really drunk.

"I'll help you." the driver said dryly and walked to me looking totally exhausted. He lifted the man by his arm and dragged him to the door. I was taken a back. He was treating him like a garbage. I quickly stood up on my feat and rushed outside.

"There you belong you filthy trash." the driver yelled in frustration. " And you, yoy don't always need to be a saint." he hissed and walked away. I stood there speechless with no answer. I looked at the man on the ground.

Quickly I was about to run when something caught me,

" Get help, or you'll die."

HONEY MULLINS

Six years ago, I was a naive girl sold by my father to the powerful Sanders estate, only to be tossed onto the streets after a brutal assault they labeled "marital infidelity." I fled the country pregnant and broken, hiding from the shadow of a husband I had never even met. Now, I've returned to New York with my triplets to sign the final divorce papers and disappear forever. But Archibald Sanders-the man I was told was a crippled recluse-intercepted us with the cold precision of a predator. He didn't see the woman his family destroyed; he saw a gold-digger who had shamed his name. His security team hunted us to a grimy motel, using tactical force to snatch my children away and drag me to his glass-walled empire. In his office, he loomed over me, demanding a DNA test and threatening to throw me in prison while my babies were lost to the foster system. He was convinced I'd cheated, yet he stared at my sons with a haunting confusion, unable to ignore the stormy blue eyes that were a perfect mirror of his own. I stood there, paralyzed by his scent-the sharp tang of rain and expensive leather that triggered the icy dread of my worst nightmares. How could he accuse me of betrayal when he felt exactly like the monster who had shattered my life in that dark hotel room? "I'll sign anything," I sobbed, "just give me my kids." But the game changed when my five-year-old son hacked the tower's security, holding the skyscraper hostage to save me. In the chaos, a fragile, silent boy-Archibald's secret son-wandered into the room and reached for me as if I were his missing soul. Archibald's face turned to stone as he tore up the agreement and locked the doors. "Until I find out why my son is looking at you like that," he growled, "you aren't going anywhere."

Landslide

My bank account showed exactly $42.18, and my student loan notifications were flashing red. I lived in a sweltering Queens apartment with my Aunt Lydia, where the air was thick with the smell of stale frying oil and the constant threat of being homeless. Lydia handed me a grainy photo of a man twice my age and told me she had already "sold" me to him. He was a dry cleaner looking for a wife, and in exchange for my hand, he would pay off her credit cards and my debt. If I didn't show up for the date that night, my boxes would be on the curb by midnight. I arrived at the cafe in a state of panic, my selective mutism making it impossible to even breathe. In the crowded room, I accidentally sat at the wrong table. Instead of the man from the photo, I found myself facing Gerhard Holcomb—the cold, terrifyingly handsome billionaire whose family owned the very museum where I worked. He didn't send me away; instead, he studied my trembling hands and offered me a different deal: a two-year contract marriage, a two-million-dollar payout, and a strict clause forbidding any children. I signed the papers and moved into his Park Avenue penthouse, thinking I was finally safe. But when I went back to the old apartment to retrieve the only memento of my dead parents, Lydia lashed out, leaving me bleeding from a head wound. Gerhard’s retaliation was absolute—he had her arrested and her building foreclosed on within hours, claiming he was simply "protecting his assets." As I recovered in his silent, glass-walled home, I saw a call from a famous socialite flash on his phone, and a cold truth settled in my gut. I wasn't just a wife; I was a placeholder, a silent shield used to fend off the women from his past. I looked at the massive pink diamond on my finger and realized the silence I had lived in my whole life was about to become my most expensive prison. I had traded a life of poverty for a high-stakes game of shadows, and now I had to survive the man who claimed to own me.

SHANA GRAY

The sterile white of the operating room blurred, then sharpened, as Skye Sterling felt the cold clawing its way up her body. The heart monitor flatlined, a steady, high-pitched whine announcing her end. Her uterus had been removed, a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding, but the blood wouldn't clot. It just kept flowing, warm and sticky, pooling beneath her. Through heavy eyes, she saw a trembling nurse holding a phone on speaker. "Mr. Kensington," the nurse's voice cracked, "your wife... she's critical." A pause, then a sweet, poisonous giggle. Seraphina Miller. "Liam is in the shower," Seraphina's voice purred. "Stop calling, Skye. It's pathetic. Faking a medical emergency on our anniversary? Even for you, that's low." Then, Liam's bored voice: "If she dies, call the funeral home. I have a meeting in the morning." Click. The line went dead. A second later, so did Skye. The darkness that followed was absolute, suffocating, a black ocean crushing her lungs. She screamed into the void, a silent, agonizing wail of regret for loving a man who saw her as a nuisance, for dying without ever truly living. Until she died, she didn't understand. Why was her life so tragically wasted? Why did her husband, the man she loved, abandon her so cruelly? The injustice of it all burned hotter than the fever in her body. Then, the air rushed back in. Skye gasped, her body convulsing violently on the mattress. Her eyes flew open, wide and terrified, staring blindly into the darkness. Her trembling hand reached for her phone. May 12th. Five years ago. She was back.
