Chapter 1 The unknown

Synopsis

Lilith stood before the grand altar, her long black hair cascading down her back like a waterfall of night. The air was heavy with the scent of incense and the soft glow of candles cast eerie shadows on the walls. Her loyal servant, a demon named Kael, stood beside her, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.

"The time has come, Kael," Lilith whispered, her voice like a gentle breeze on a summer's day. "I have chosen the perfect vessel. Bring her to me."

Kael bowed and disappeared into the shadows, returning moments later with a struggling young woman. Her name was Sophia, a kind and gentle soul who had unknowingly stumbled into Lilith's realm.

Lilith's eyes gleamed with excitement as she reached out to touch Sophia's face. "You, my dear, will be my key to the human world. Your mortality will be my gift."

Sophia's eyes widened in terror as Lilith's fangs descended, ready to strike. But just as the Queen of the Underworld was about to sink her teeth into Sophia's neck, a voice boomed from the shadows.

"Lilith, stop!"

Lilith's head snapped towards the sound, her eyes narrowing into slits and a figure emerged from the darkness, tall and imposing. It was Azrael, the Angel of Death.

"Lilith, you know the laws. You cannot sacrifice a mortal without permission from the Council."Lilith's face twisted in rage. "The Council has no authority over me. I am the Queen of the Underworld."

Azrael drew closer, his eyes blazing with determination. "I will not allow you to harm her"

Lilith snarled, baring her fangs. "You think you can stop me, Azrael? I will show you my power."

With a wave of her hand, Lilith summoned a horde of demons, their eyes glowing red awaiting their mother's command, and at the wave of her hands they attacked.

Azrael drew his sword, its blade shimmering with a light that seemed almost divine. "Lilith cackled, her eyes flashing with malevolence." Kael, attack! she screamed, her eyes blazing with fury.

The demons charged forward, their weapons at the ready. Azrael stood his ground, his sword flashing in the dim light. He fought off the first demon, then the second, but there were too many.

Kael, the demon commander, stepped forward. "You are no match for us, Azrael," he sneered. "Surrender now and we will spare your life."

Azrael snarled, his eyes flashing with anger. "I will never surrender," he said, his voice firm.

The demons attacked, their weapons clashing with Azrael's sword. He fought bravely, but he was outnumbered.

Sophia watched in horror as Azrael fell to the ground, the demons closing in on him. Lilith saw her chance and pounced, her fangs bared. She sank her teeth deep into Sophia's neck, her eyes blazing with triumph.

Sophia cried out in pain, her eyes wide with fear. She felt Lilith's venom coursing through her veins, felt her strength fading away.

Azrael saw Sophia's distress and fought with renewed strength. He knocked the demons aside and charged towards Lilith, his sword flashing in the dim light.

But it was too late.Lilith's fangs sank deep into Sophia's neck, her venom coursing through her veins like liquid fire. Sophia's eyes widened in pain, her body arching backwards as she tried to break free.

Azrael's heart raced with fear as he watched, his sword flashing in the dim light as he tried to knock Lilith away. But the Queen of the Underworld was too strong, her grip on Sophia unyielding.

Sophia's eyes began to glaze over, her body going limp as the venom took hold. Azrael knew he had to act fast, or risk losing her forever.

With a mighty cry, he struck Lilith with all his might, his sword slicing through her defenses and sending her flying across the room. Sophia's body slumped to the ground, her eyes closed as if in sleep.

Azrael rushed to her side, his heart heavy with worry. He knew that Lilith's venom was powerful, that it could destroy Sophia's soul if left unchecked.

He scooped up Sophia's limp form and held her close, his tears falling like rain as he begged for her to wake up. But Sophia's eyes remained closed, her body still and silent as the grave.

And then, just as all hope seemed lost, Sophia's eyes flickered open. She looked up at Azrael, her gaze cloudy and confused.

"Azrael?" she whispered, her voice barely audible.

Azrael's heart soared with joy. "Sophia, thank the gods," he exclaimed, his voice trembling with relief.

But as Sophia sat up, her eyes flashing with a newfound power, Azrael realized that something was terribly wrong. Sophia's eyes had changed, her pupils glowing like embers as she looked at him with a fierce and feral gaze.

"Lilith's venom," Azrael whispered, his heart heavy with dread. "It's changed her.".
