I'm Killer Chapter 1 I'm Killer

Chapter. 1

Every day, Hanum Permatasari, a thirteen year old girl, goes to the hospital to wait for her father who is hospitalized. Hanum, who had just come home from school, immediately pedaled hers mini bike to the hospital. She ignored the hot sun, all that was on hers mind was wanting to quickly meet hers father. Arriving in front of the hospital, Hanum got off hers bicycle, wiping the sweat from hers forehead. The little girl led her bicycle into the hospital yard. Mr. Narto, the parking attendant at the hospital called him...

"Hanum... quickly put your bicycle here!"

The little girl guided her bicycle while reaching into the skirt pocket of her school uniform. Two coins were taken out and then shoved in front of Mr. Narto.

"This is my bicycle parking money, Mr. Narto."

Mr. Narto smiled while stroking Hanum's head.

"Just save your money, your bicycle is free to park here. Hurry up and meet your father, Hanum."

The little girl smiled.

"Thank you, Mr. Narto."

After leaning his bicycle near the parking lot fence, Hanum ran down the hospital hall way. Still panting for breath, Hanum immediately stopped in front of the patient's room. Slowly the little girl entered the patient's room, saw her father lying down. The little girl's eyes twinkled when she saw the smile on her father's lips. Hanum kissed his father's right hand.

"Assalam Mualaikuum, father. Hanum came straight home from school."

Hers father pointed at the wall clock, saying...

"Waalaikum salam, Hanum. Dad always looks at the clock on the wall, waiting for you to come."

This little girl dragged a chair near her father's bed and told her about all the activities at school. Hanum's chatter was encouragement for her father to recover. Finally Hanum fell asleep in the chair, his head lying on his father's pillow. Before it was half past four in the afternoon, the sound of a knock on the door woke Hanum, Hanum immediately got up from hers chair and walked out of the room to see the plants in the front yard of the patient's room. A nurse and professor Doctor Wijayanto came to examine Hanum's father.

"How is my condition? Can I recover?"

Prof. Dr. Wijayanto sighed.

"Sorry, I have tried to help cure you but the blood cancer is in the final stage."

Hanum's father turned him gaze to look at Hanum from the window.

"Prof. Dr.. Wijayanto, my wife has died and I live with Hanum. If I die, she will definitely be alone."

Prof. Wijayanto and the nurse were surprised to hear this patient's words. Hanum's father continued speaking..

"I don't want Hanum to go to an orphanage even though she will become an orphan."

Prof. Wijayanto saw the nurse standing next to her who was changing the IV bottle. Prof. Wijayanto sat in a chair next to the patient's bed, saying...

"God willing, tomorrow I will invite my wife to meet you."

"Yes, Prof. Wijayanto."

____

The next day, prof. Dr. Wijayanto and his wife met hers father Hanum who was still lying down.

"Hanum's father, this is my wife. Yesterday we talked about you and your daughter Hanum."

Hanum's father smiled and nodded. Prof.'s wife Dr Wijayanto immediately spoke...

"Thank God, Allah answered my prayer. A year after I gave birth to twin boys, I couldn't get pregnant because my uterus was removed."

Hanum's father immediately looked at Prof. Dr. Wijayanto who was sitting stood next to his wife who continued speaking.

"I mean, my husband and I want to adopt your child. We promise that we will treat your child like a biological child, not an adopted child."

His father's eyes filled with tears. On the one hand, he is relieved because there is a good and educated husband and wife who want to adopt their only daughter, but on the other hand, he feels sad because he doesn't have long to live and he has to be separated from Hanum forever. Holding back tears, Hanum's father answered..

"I am grateful to both of you, Prof. Wijayanto, who are willing to take care of my beloved child Hanum."

Hanum's father took a deep breath then continued speaking again..

"I have a house, even though it's just a simple house, please sell it for Hanum's needs."

Prof. Dr. Wijayanto and his wife smiled while shaking their heads. Politely, Prof.'s wife. Hanum answered..

"No, we don't want to sell your house, let the house be a keepsake for Hanum until he grows up."

Prof. Dr. Wijayanto also replied..

"We are the ones who finance and care for Hanum until he grows up."

Tears rolled down Hanum's father's cheeks. While rubbing his eyes, he said...

"Please don't tell Hanum about the blood cancer I have and don't tell me that I don't have long to live."

Prof. Dr. Wijayanto and his wife nodded, the husband and wife's hearts were touched when they heard Hanum's father's words. Not long after, Hanum appeared, after his father introduced Hanum to Prof.'s wife. Dr. Wijayanto Hanum immediately sat on the floor and took out his school textbooks and pencil case from hers school bag. Prof. Dr. Wijayanto and his wife watched what the little girl was doing who was focused on her schoolwork.

"Father, please check the results of this cross product."

Hanum gave a math notebook and pencil to hers lying father. Hers father saw prof. Dr. Wijayanto and his wife...

"I got used to Hanum after school having to do assignments from school, eat, take a nap, recite the Al Qur'an and then study for tomorrow's lesson."

Prof. Dr. Wijayanto raised both thumbs..

"You are a great father who instilled discipline in Hanum."

Hanum's father laughed a little..

"Yes, Prof. Wijayanto. I really love Hanum and taught Hanum to divide his time between his daily activities."

Prof. Dr. Wijayanto and his wife became interested in Hanum, a polite, sweet and smart little girl. This husband and wife believe that Hanum was taught well by his father and that was very clear in the little girl standing in front of them.

___

One week later

Fragrant father's condition worsened, finally his father died. The little girl cried hysterically hugging her father's body. Prof. Dr. Wijayanto and his wife helped return Hanum's father's body to the funeral home. The neighbors arrived, Hanum's father's body was taken out of the ambulance and put into the house. Hanum was still hugging his father's body, Hanum's mouth didn't stop saying...

"Father, don't leave Hanum alone, okay?"

Prof. Dr. Wijayanto and his neighbors purified the body of his father Hanum. Prof. Dr.'s wife. Wijayanto hugged Hanum who was still crying over his father's departure. Prof. Dr. Wijayanto's wife's mother's soul trembled, and her desire to have a little girl as her child became even greater. Softly whispered.

"Your father has been called by Allah. Let him go, Hanum."

The little girl covered in tears hugged the prof's wife tightly. Dr. Wijayanto. Her tiny lips said...

"Father left Hanum alone even though father promised to always be with Hanum."

"If Allah wills, we cannot go against Allah's will, Hanum."

His father's body was buried. After the funeral, they all returned to the funeral home. Prof. Dr. Wijayanto and his wife talked with the local RT head about taking Hanum while showing a will from Hanum's late father which stated that if Hanum was a daughter whose father died, Hanum would be adopted by Prof. Dr Wijayanto and his family.

I stood at my mother's open grave in the freezing rain, my heels sinking into the mud. The space beside me was empty. My husband, Hilliard Holloway, had promised to cherish me in bad times, but apparently, burying my mother didn't fit into his busy schedule. While the priest's voice droned on, a news alert lit up my phone. It was a livestream of the Metropolitan Charity Gala. There was Hilliard, looking impeccable in a custom tuxedo, with his ex-girlfriend Charla English draped over his arm. The headline read: "Holloway & English: A Power Couple Reunited?" When he finally returned to our penthouse at 2 AM, he didn't come alone-he brought Charla with him. He claimed she'd had a "medical emergency" at the gala and couldn't be left alone. I found a Tiffany diamond necklace on our coffee table meant for her birthday, and a smudge of her signature red lipstick on his collar. When I confronted him, he simply told me to stop being "hysterical" and "acting like a child." He had no idea I was seven months pregnant with his child. He thought so little of my grief that he didn't even bother to craft a convincing lie, laughing with his mistress in our home while I sat in the dark with a shattered heart and a secret life growing inside me. "He doesn't deserve us," I whispered to the darkness. I didn't scream or beg. I simply left a folder on his desk containing signed divorce papers and a forged medical report for a terminated pregnancy. I disappeared into the night, letting him believe he had successfully killed his own legacy through his neglect. Five years later, Hilliard walked into "The Vault," the city's most exclusive underground auction, looking for a broker to manage his estate. He didn't recognize me behind my Venetian mask, but he couldn't ignore the neon pink graffiti on his armored Maybach that read "DEADBEAT." He had no clue that the three brilliant triplets currently hacking his security system were the very children he thought had been erased years ago. This time, I wasn't just a wife in the way; I was the one holding all the cards.

My bank account showed exactly $42.18, and my student loan notifications were flashing red. I lived in a sweltering Queens apartment with my Aunt Lydia, where the air was thick with the smell of stale frying oil and the constant threat of being homeless. Lydia handed me a grainy photo of a man twice my age and told me she had already "sold" me to him. He was a dry cleaner looking for a wife, and in exchange for my hand, he would pay off her credit cards and my debt. If I didn't show up for the date that night, my boxes would be on the curb by midnight. I arrived at the cafe in a state of panic, my selective mutism making it impossible to even breathe. In the crowded room, I accidentally sat at the wrong table. Instead of the man from the photo, I found myself facing Gerhard Holcomb—the cold, terrifyingly handsome billionaire whose family owned the very museum where I worked. He didn't send me away; instead, he studied my trembling hands and offered me a different deal: a two-year contract marriage, a two-million-dollar payout, and a strict clause forbidding any children. I signed the papers and moved into his Park Avenue penthouse, thinking I was finally safe. But when I went back to the old apartment to retrieve the only memento of my dead parents, Lydia lashed out, leaving me bleeding from a head wound. Gerhard’s retaliation was absolute—he had her arrested and her building foreclosed on within hours, claiming he was simply "protecting his assets." As I recovered in his silent, glass-walled home, I saw a call from a famous socialite flash on his phone, and a cold truth settled in my gut. I wasn't just a wife; I was a placeholder, a silent shield used to fend off the women from his past. I looked at the massive pink diamond on my finger and realized the silence I had lived in my whole life was about to become my most expensive prison. I had traded a life of poverty for a high-stakes game of shadows, and now I had to survive the man who claimed to own me.

Betrayed Bride: Claimed By The Brother

Betrayed Bride: Claimed By The Brother

I arrived at the hotel with Julian's favorite takeout, ready to surprise my fiancé before our big merger. But the moment I swiped the keycard, the silence of the hallway felt heavy and wrong. Inside, a red-soled stiletto lay on the marble floor-the same one I'd watched my best friend Lila try on at Saks last week. Through the cracked bedroom door, I watched Julian's back arch as Lila looked me straight in the eye and smiled, wrapping her legs tighter around him to mock my heartbreak. I fled to the penthouse to hide, only to find Grafton, Julian's "crippled" brother, waiting in the dark. To my horror, the man who was supposed to be paralyzed stood up from his wheelchair, gripped my chin with cold fingers, and forced me to sign a contract that gave him control of my family's shares. He knew about my mother's secret medical bills and used them to buy my silence, effectively turning my life into a calculated game of corporate chess. The betrayal tasted like acid, and the injustice of it all burned in my throat. My fiancé was a liar, my best friend was a thief, and the man now controlling my fate was a predator who had been faking his disability for years. I couldn't understand how everyone I trusted had turned out to be a monster. I was trapped between a man who cheated on me and a man who wanted to own me, with no way out and no one to turn to. But when Julian came looking for me, Grafton didn't hide; he stood tall, looming over me with a possessive glint in his eyes. "Help me destroy Julian," I rasped, realizing that to survive the Faulkner men, I had to become the most dangerous player of them all.
