Chapter 1 A spark of attraction

Alexandra "Lexi" Thompson, a name synonymous with elegance and precision, stood confidently in the grand ballroom, surveying the lavish setup before her. As the founder and lead event planner of "Lexi's Events," she had spent years honing her craft, building a reputation for creating unforgettable experiences that surpassed her clients' wildest dreams.

She is a stunning beauty with long, curly brown hair, bright green eyes, and a radiant smile. She has a fit and toned physique, thanks to her love of yoga and running. She stands at around 5'8" with a confident and poised demeanor.

With a keen eye for detail and a passion for perfection, Lexi had established herself as the go-to event planner for high-society weddings, charity galas, and corporate events. Her ability to balance creativity with meticulous planning had earned her a loyal client base and numerous industry accolades.

It was a beautiful summer evening, and the luxurious estate was buzzing with guests attending the high-profile wedding of the season. Lexi had worked tirelessly to ensure every detail was perfect. As she adjusted the delicate lace on the wedding arch, Lexi's mind raced with the countless details she needed to oversee. Her team of experts bustled around her, setting up the lighting, flowers, and music, each one a vital piece of the puzzle that would come together to create a truly magical evening.

With a warm smile and an air of quiet confidence, Lexi moved through the room, her presence commanding attention without demanding it. She was a true leader, a master of her craft, and a woman who knew that the key to success lay in the details.

In this moment, Lexi embodied the essence of her brand: sophistication, poise, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. As the evening's festivities were about to unfold, Lexi stood ready, her eyes shining with a quiet pride and a sense of purpose. She was Alexandra "Lexi" Thompson, the queen of events, and this was her domain.

As she stood in the middle of the room observing what was going on, Lexi notices a slight mismatch in the tablecloth color and politely requests the vendor to replace it with the correct shade. "How about you use a darker shade of this colour, ma'am?", She asked softly and politely. The vendor mouthed an 'oh' and proceeded to get the tablecloth. She nodded satisfyingly and looked around.

At the other end of the room, she noticed that some workers were having issues with a particular design and she walked up to them .

"What's going on here?", She asked. "We don't know what design to come up with for this part", one of the vendors answered.

"Oh well, let me take care of this".she replied and she suggested a unique centerpiece design, incorporating the client's favorite flowers and personal elements, impressing the client and vendors alike.

Now she heaved a sigh of relief and wanted to get herself a seat when the catering staff mentioned a last-minute menu change, Lexi quickly adapts and coordinates with the team to ensure a seamless transition.

Lexi clearly explained the timeline and logistics to the wedding party, putting everyone at ease with her warm smile and reassuring tone.

Her past relationships have been unfulfilling, and she has been hurt by men who didn't appreciate her worth. She has built walls around herself to protect her heart, but deep down, she longs for a meaningful connection with someone. But she needed to focus on her career and forget about men for the time being until she found her Prince Charming.

She chuckled at the thought of Prince Charming. She wasn't even expecting anything of such. As she took a moment to survey the festivities, her eyes landed on a tall, dark-haired man standing alone by the bar.

Julian, dressed in a tailored tuxedo, exuded an air of confidence and sophistication. His piercing blue eyes scanned the room, his gaze lingering on Lexi for a brief moment before moving on. Lexi felt a sudden jolt of electricity, as if their eyes had locked in a silent understanding. "Is he the long awaited Prince Charming?", She thought to herself. She immediately waved her head and tried to erase the thought from her head.

As fate would have it, Lexi's best friend, Rachel, dragged her over to introduce her to the elusive billionaire. Julian's eyes narrowed slightly as they approached, but his expression softened when Rachel made the introduction.

"Lexi, this is Julian Blackwood. Julian, this is Lexi Thompson, the mastermind behind this incredible wedding."

Julian's gaze locked onto Lexi's, and he extended his hand. "It's a pleasure, Lexi. Your work is impressive."

Lexi's heart skipped a beat as their hands touched. The spark was undeniable, and they both knew it. Julian's eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled, and Lexi felt her knees weaken. "Come on girl, get a grip on yourself!",she scolded herself inwardly and gave Julian a fake smile.

As they chatted, the connection between them grew stronger. They discovered shared interests and a similar sense of humor. Lexi was drawn to Julian's intelligence and confidence, while Julian admired her beauty, grace, and quick wit.

The chemistry between them was palpable, and the air seemed to vibrate with tension. They laughed and joked, their bodies swaying closer together as the music played on.

In that moment, Lexi and Julian both knew that their lives had intersected in a way that would change them forever. The attraction was instant, fierce, and unrelenting. As the night wore on, they found themselves lost in each other's eyes, the world around them melting away.

"You look really beautiful by the way", Julian complimented her gazing at her eyes as she smiled. "Thank you", she replied blushing and trying to hide her red cheeks.

"You can blush all you want, I really mean it", he said again. Lexi's rosy cheeks had turned red like a tomato this time around.

"You are flattering me, Mister",she responded coyly. Julian was about to say something when Rachel interrupted him.

"Sorry, but can I steal Lexi for a minute?", Rachel pleaded and without waiting for an answer, dragged Lexi away from him.

Julian chuckled and watched them go into a room. He suddenly remembered that he didn't even ask her for her contact before she was being dragged away by her friend. He wasn't bothered by that. "I have my ways", he said to himself and gulped down his drink at once.

"What were you guys talking about", Rachel queried her friend as soon as they got to a less crowded place. "What?, was that the reason why you dragged me away from him?", Lexi asked in surprise.

"What else?", Rachel asked and blinked her eyes twice making a puppy face. Lexi rolled her eyes and pinched her cheeks. "Now I didn't get to collect his business card, all thanks to you", She sighed and looked down at her annoying and petite cute friend.

"I'm sorry, I was just curious and it was because you left me all alone and won't stop talking to him".

"It's fine, maybe we are not destined to be friends anyways", Lexi said and sighed again.

"Let's go party babe", Rachel screamed and dragged Lexi along with her.

As they party-hopped from one place to another, Lexi couldn't shake off the feeling that she had missed an opportunity to connect with someone special. She had been so caught up in her banter with Rachel that she hadn't even gotten Julian's business card.

But fate had a way of surprising her. As they danced the night away at the final club, Lexi felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around to see the same stranger standing in front of her, a charming smile on his face.

"I think we got off on the wrong foot earlier," he said, holding out his business card. "My name is Julian , and I'd love to make up for lost time."

Lexi's heart skipped a beat as she took the card, their fingers touching briefly. "I know your name's Julian,"she replied and chuckled, her voice barely above a whisper.

Julian's eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled. "Well, Lexi, would you like to grab coffee with me sometime and see where this goes?"

Lexi's heart soared. Maybe this chance encounter was the start of something special after all.

"I'd love to," she said, her smile matching his.

As they exchanged numbers and parted ways, Lexi turned to Rachel with a grin. "Thanks for being my partner in crime tonight, Rach. Who knows, maybe this is the start of something amazing?"

Rachel winked, her puppy face back in full force. "I told you, babe, we make a killer team!"

And with that, the two friends danced off into the night, forgetting that it was already late.

As the night wore on, Lexi and Rachel realized they were too far from home to walk, and their phones were dead from all the selfies they had taken.

Just then, Julian, who had been quietly observing from the sidelines, stepped in and offered to drive them home in his sleek sports car. Lexi was surprised. "It's you again?," she asked surprisingly. Julian nodded and gave her a wide grin.

Lexi raised an eyebrow, teasing him about his "midlife crisis mobile,"but Rachel was thrilled, bouncing into the passenger seat like a kid on Christmas morning.

As they sped through the night, the wind in their hair, Lexi turned to Julian and smiled. "Thanks for the rescue, Julian. You're a true gentleman."

Julian smiled back, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Anytime, Lexi. Anytime."

As they pulled up to Lexi's apartment, Rachel turned to Julian and asked, "Hey, Julian, can I ask you something?"

"Shoot, Rachel," Julian replied, his eyes sparkling with amusement.

"Well, I was just wondering... what's your story, Julian? You seem so mysterious and intriguing, like a character from a spy novel or something."

Julian chuckled, his expression turning thoughtful. "Ah, Rachel, my story is a long and complicated one. Maybe one day I'll tell you all about it."

Lexi raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued. "Oh, come on, Julian. Give us a hint. What did you do before you became a... whatever it is you do now?"

Julian smiled enigmatically. "Let's just say I used to work in... acquisitions. And now, I'm more of a... billionaire ."

Rachel's eyes widened. "Ooh, you're a spy! I knew it!"

Julian laughed, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "It's nothing like that, Rachel. Nothing like that."

And with that, he dropped them off at Lexi's apartment, leaving them both wondering what secrets he was hiding...
