Chapter 1 prologue

New York City, the big apple, a city with the tallest buildings, busy streets, and even the night sky filled with the lights that could be confused with stars; this place has its darkness too and no one pays any attention to it. Behind the fast and noisy continuously growing dimensions of the cities are hidden timeless enigmas beyond the ravages of time and even the bland facades of the corporate giants.

A reporter who feels the pull of the City's secrets because she was driven by the desire to reveal what lies beneath the surface. And, there it was – the single fact that for some reason she did not want to admit- a fact that preyed on her mind. In them she roamed through corridors, faint and foggy with an unknown figure at her heels in the dark. Hushed tones of fear and desperation repeated itself from one wall to the other. Every time just as she realized someone is chasing her, she woke up with a start, with a bounding heart.

Tonight was different. Thus, the dreams were getting even deeper, and she had to find herself in a room filled with shining symbols. A silhouette that woke up turned to her and its gaze was fixated. 'Amelia' it said, this time it seemed to freeze her soul. This is the kind of special message that will make you want to read the rest of the novel because you have been selected, or so it seems.

The chamber shook, anxiety which was already apparent seemed to rise even more. Amelia was scared to say anything so she closed up. The chamber fell, but especially the sides reminded them of twisted figures. This is an effective transition to the next part as Amelia enters the darkness, memories lurking in her thoughts – violence in pre-Columbian rituals that she may possess; a hidden power inside her.

She was awoke with a start against her will and she covered in perspiratio. The figure's words then repeated, guaranteeing a fate that would be mixed with evil.

Even when she awoke the next morning and attempted to forget the perverse dream, it was still very much alive in her. She glanced at the clock-3:09:00 PM The health services sub-sector embraces a variety of health provisions that seek to offer convenient and timely solutions to the populace's healthcare needs. The witching hour. She shuddered remembering the danger of the dream she had before. For all the purposes it seemed more than a nightmare averting me from the black power that's brewing in the city.

Standing up she went to the window and looked at the night cityscape. Tall buildings rose as if trying to hide something. How many unheard and unspoken stories were there in the pile? How many shadows hid things sadder than the deepest black?

Amelia had faced corruption and mishaps in her professional career as an investigative journalist but this case was strange. It was calling at her from the depths of her mind.

Going for her laptop which she uses to take records of her dreams in an effort to solve them, she noted down the symbols, the new faces that she could not recognize and the feeling of being followed. Days went by as she studied and read about myth and werewolves stories the city dark figure and the black out phenomena.

Amelia woke up to a pile of clippings about the mysterious 'The Council' rumored to be orchestrating happenings from behind the scenes. A little light came in through the windows and the door, and the shadows of the objects in the room stretched out on the floor. This is when Amelia comes to the realization that she got herself into something pretty big and bad. This dream provoked desire for cognition.

She couldn't ignore it. New York had encountered something sinister, and Amelia Cross is ready to find answers no matter how far down the rabbit hole she has to go.
