Chapter 1 Pink

In a locked room inside a popular club house, a girl could be seen seated facing the mirror. Her gaze was fixed on the mirror and she was focused on her reflection, trying to see if there was anything wrong with her heavy make-up.

The heavy make-up on her face was meant to make her look more pretty and different but it also made her look more matured.

That wasn't the first time she would be putting on such heavy make-up, but today she was not happy.

"Pink! Get up and stop staring at your reflection! Everyone is waiting for you" The lady she worked for, Lady Ama, informed as she entered the small room.

The girl opened her mouth to talk but she couldn't. Her head was aching badly and it felt as if she would pass out soon because of the pains. She took her left hand to her head and started massaging the scalp softly.

"Pink, are you not fine?" Lady Ama asked.

Her facial expression might have triggered Lady Ama to ask that question.

It wasn't as if Lady Ama was concerned about Pink or her health, she was just concerned about the growth of her business. Pink was the best stripper in the club and men flood the club just to watch her.

She was given the name pink because the color of her stripping dress and the artificial hair she wore to perform were color pink. Not that she didn't have a natural long silky hair, the pink hair was a way to disguise herself, same with the heavy make-up.

"I am not." She replied sharply and Lady Ama's jaw dropped. "Can I please just skip today, I'll..."

"You can not!" Lady Ama snapped. She didn't even allow Pink to finish talking.

Pink chuckled dryly and stood up from where she sat. She wasn't expecting lady Ama to give her a break because she was not fine, she knew that was the last thing lady Ama would think of doing.

"You don't care about me, you are more concerned about your business."

Lady Ama's face got covered with guilt and Pink could see that her words hurt the lady but she didn't care, she was more hurt.

"Pink" Lady Ama called softly and she spared her a stare. "I do care about you, you are my best stripper. But if you do not perform today, you know what will happen."

Of course, Pink knew what would happen if she didn't perform. The men might not visit the club again, because she was the major reason they paid for VIP, they wanted to see her perform. In other words, she was the club's biggest fish.

She nodded understandingly. There was nothing else she could do, other than to oblige.

"Thank you!" Lady Ama flashed her a smile which she failed to return back.

She picked up the pink wig from the table and wore it on. She stared at the mirror and she smiled when she saw her reflection.

Now she completely looked like pink the stripper, not Annabella.

"Let's go" Lady Ama urged.

They both exited the room, with Pink's heels making clacking sound as they hit the floor.

They got to the entrance of the VIP section and lady Ama bestowed on her to go in.

"You'll go home after this performance, I promise" She made her a promise and Pink flashed her a light smile.

Immediately Pink got in, the men's faces brightened up like Christmas trees. They were so happy to see her, they just couldn't hide their excitement.

She winked at them and catwalked to the stripping pole.

The sexy music started playing and she began doing what she knew how to do best; stripping.

As she performed, she could feel the stares of the men on her exposed butt cheeks and her cleavages and that emboldened her.

Apart from the money she was earning as a stripper, she loved stripping, and she loved getting attentions on her.

Minutes later, the music stopped and she ended her stripping section by splitting in front of the pole.

Loud cheering aroused from the men and she smiled widely, feeling proud of herself.

Her gaze moved to where Lady Ama stood and her smile broadened when Lady Ama gave her a thumb up.

She exhaled deeply, stood up from the floor and walked out of the club room without waiting for lady Ama.

A pair of blue eyes followed every of her movement till she was out of sight.

The young man who the eyes belonged to was seated in the club room and he had been staring at pink ever since she stepped into the place.

He was impressed by her stripping skills. Ever since he had been watching strippers strip, this was the best he had seen.

"The stripper that just left..." He spoke up, taking his gaze to the guy that was seated beside him.

"What about her?" Eric, his friend asked, staring suspiciously at him.

"I have never seen a stripper like her" He muttered and took a drag from the cigarette in his hand.

A smile lingered on the corner of Eric's lips. "I am glad you like it, Tyler. When I told you about it you didn't believe me."

He let out a scoff. "Don't feel too proud of yourself."

Eric chuckled, he picked the glass of wine on the table and took a sip from it, he didn't say anymore words.

"I want her" Tyler declared.

"Don't even think of it. A lot of men here have tried their best to have her but she doesn't do more than stripping" Eric informed.

"I am different, Eric. I get what I want" He dropped the cigarette on the floor and then stomped on it.

He was never the type of person to accept defeat, whenever he wanted something he made sure to get it at all cost.

"She is different also. I've asked the manager of the club to link me up with pink and she told me pink doesn't do such, she's only a stripper" Eric explained, trying to make a point but still Tyler was adamant.

"Pink is her name?"

"Her stage name actually. No one knows what her real face looks like, no one knows her real name, no one knows nothing about her, except the manager I guess" Eric replied.

Without saying any word, Tyler stood.

"What are you planning to do?" Eric asked, lowering his brows.

"Where is the manager? I want to have a conversation with her."

Eric stared suspiciously at his friend before pointing at Lady Ama who was conversing with someone near the entrance of the club room. "This is time wasteful, Ty. It won't lead to any result"

"I'll be right back, homie" He patted Eric's shoulder and then walked away.

"We'll see" Eric chuckled and continued sipping from his glass of juice.

For four years, I traced the bullet scar on Chace’s chest, believing it was proof he would bleed to keep me safe. On our anniversary, he told me to wear white because "tonight changes everything." I walked into the gala thinking I was getting a ring. Instead, I stood frozen in the center of the ballroom, drowning in silk, watching him slide his mother's sapphire onto another woman's finger. Karyn Warren. The daughter of a rival family. When I begged him with my eyes to claim me, to save me from the public humiliation, he didn't flinch. He just leaned toward his Underboss, his voice amplified by the silence. "Karyn is for power. Ember is for pleasure. Don't confuse the assets." My heart didn't just break; it incinerated. He expected me to stay as his mistress, threatening to dig up my dead mother’s grave if I refused to play the obedient pet. He thought I was trapped. He thought I had nowhere to go because of my father’s massive gambling debts. He was wrong. With shaking hands, I pulled out my phone and texted the one name I was never supposed to use. Keith Mosley. The Don. The monster under Chace's bed. *I am invoking the Blood Oath. My father’s debt. I am ready to pay it.* His reply came three seconds later, buzzing against my palm like a warning. *The price is marriage. You belong to me. Yes or No?* I looked up at Chace, who was laughing with his new fiancée, thinking he owned me. I looked down and typed three letters. *Yes.*

The heavy thud of the release stamp was the only goodbye I got from the warden after five years in federal prison. I stepped out into the blinding sun, expecting the same flash of paparazzi bulbs that had seen me dragged away in handcuffs, but there was only a single black limousine idling on the shoulder of the road. Inside sat my mother and sister, clutching champagne and looking at my frayed coat with pure disgust. They didn't offer a welcome home; instead, they tossed a thick legal document onto the table and told me I was dead to the city. "Gavin and I are getting engaged," my sister Mia sneered, flicking a credit card at me like I was a stray dog. "He doesn't need a convict ex-fiancée hanging around." Even after I saved their lives from an armed kidnapping attempt by ramming the attackers off the road, they rewarded me by leaving me stranded in the dirt. When I finally ran into Gavin, the man who had framed me, he pinned me against a wall and threatened to send me back to a cell if I ever dared to show my face at their wedding. They had stolen my biotech research, ruined my name, and let me rot for half a decade while they lived off my brilliance. They thought they had broken me, leaving me with nothing but an expired chapstick and a few old photos in a plastic bag. What they didn't know was that I had spent those five years becoming "Dr. X," a shadow consultant with five hundred million dollars in crypto and a secret that would bring the city to its knees. I wasn't just a victim anymore; I was a weapon, and I was pregnant with the heir they thought they had erased. I walked into the Melton estate and made an offer to the most powerful man in New York. "I'll save your grandfather's life," I told Horatio Melton, staring him down. "But the price is your last name. I'm taking back what's mine, and I'm starting with the man who thinks he's marrying my sister."

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.
